  1. Hi there. What part of NC? I'm near Rocky Mount. Congrats on your surgery. I'm still pre-pre-op. :-) Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
  2. Hi all! I have met another little milestone here at the beginning of my journey. I went to my PCP yesterday, prepared to defend my decision to have WLS, but it turns out that I didn't have to! She totally agrees with me, after discussing my family history and my own history of yo-yo dieting. She said she would refer me right then if it weren't for all the hoops we have to jump through for the insurance company. So my 6-month medically supervised diet starts today! One step closer to my goal - a healthier, thinner me!
  3. Way to go!!!!! Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
  4. After about 4 years, I FINALLY HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE!! So now I can get started on my 6-month doctor supervised diet. I am so happy...slow progress is progress nonetheless. :-) Bettina Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk
  5. I'm still waiting for my insurance to kick in so I can start my supervised diet. I can't wait to be as far along as you are. Congrats! Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

  7. Hello all. I have been feeling a certain way lately, and I thought I'd post it here to see if anyone else feels like this or understands... I feel trapped by food. It's a feeling I've just started feeling in the past few weeks or months. I am seriously just tired of eating. But if I don't eat, I of course would get sick. I start to feel like crap, headache, shakes, all that good stuff. So I have to eat. But if I try to eat healthy, a salad or something light, I don't get full. So when I'm cutting back, I still feel sick. Headache, etc. So I just try to stave off the sick feeling by eating a generous meal. No, typically it's not healthy, nor is it light. And what happens after I eat that? You guessed it...I feel sick. I literally have headaches almost everyday of the week. Not to mention stomach upset because I'm eating the wrong things. So that makes me not want to eat, which of course, leads me back to the beginning. This is one of the MAIN reasons I want to have this surgery. I want to eat less, but I also want to avoid feeling hungry. I know that RNY is the right procedure for me, because it will allow me to do both. And the idea of a liquid diet is really appealing. To be able to kick food to the curb for any period of time seems like an awesome idea. Anyway, if I sound crazy, please excuse me. I just really needed to get this out. Bettina
  8. I've always wondered if Soul City was a real city! :-) I pass that sign all the time heading to I-85. LOL
  9. That makes sense. I'll just check with my PCP to make sure. Thanks!
  10. I'm in Littleton...right near VA border in the eastern part of the state. Near Roanoke Rapids and Rocky Mount...they're slightly bigger so maybe you've heard of them. I'm glad to have some "neighbors" to chat with. :-) Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

  12. What if you haven't been approved yet? I am talking about the 6 month diet that a doctor has to supervise...
  13. I have the same question. I'm right over 40 BMI, with no comorbidities, and I'm wondering whether I can disqualify myself if I lose too much on the supervised diet. Realistically, if I do lose weight, I'll just regain it, but somehow I don't think the insurance company will care about that likelihood. :-/
  14. Littleton, NC...tiny, tiny little town. I'll be having my surgery at Nash General Hospital...no surgeon yet. Hello all. :-)
  15. Hello everyone. My name is Bettina. I am 32 years old, a wife and mother of two. I have been big my entire life...and I'm just tired. There's really no other way to put it. Believe it or not, I'm tired of eating. Seems like my existence revolves around food, and I need to break that cycle. I'm actually looking forward to the liquid diet part...is that weird? LOL. I've only just begun the process for surgery, but my mind is made up. I am just waiting for my insurance coverage to begin so I can start my doctor supervised diet for 6 months. I do have a couple questions...has anyone ever lost so much weight during the supervised diet that you were no longer a candidate for the surgery? Has anyone lost too much weight? I'm afraid of being too small...I would like to keep some of the curves. LOL Thanks everyone. Good luck to you all! Bettina
