Hey everybody! Help!! Im on my testing partt o the journey and my surgeon requires an upper gi im getting it done tomorow but what is that??? Do they sedate you cause im going in my own and im kinda worried anybody had this done pre-op?? I appreciate your advice!! :0)

No worries!!! You drink some lovely chalky gunk and they take x-rays. No drugs,no sedation.

When i had my upper GI done prior to surgery, I could not drive myself. They gave me (twilight), not complete sedation, but I do not remember any part of it at all. I had no discomfort afterwards at all. But I did have to sign a paper that I had a driver.

That would be an endoscopy, if that's what you're having you absolutely will need a driver!
