Congrats sorry to hear about the complications but glad the surgery went well.

Testing my determination
I've had SEVERAL! Sadly my "brake checks" sometimes led to full blown stop and pull overs BUT in the end it all worked out and I was banded. Good luck to you and congrats. Oh and thankfully you're still going to be able to move forward. Can't wait to hear how it went.

Starting my Journey
Just wanted to wish you good luck and congrats on starting your journey!! Be sure to write down any question cause like the above poster said you get nervous and or you're overly excited and you may forget things. I would think surgeons like when you ask questions too because it shows that you really are committed to this and you want to know as much as possible, my surgeon did at least. Again good luck and let us know how it goes!

initial consult tomorrow what happens
It's pretty easy stuff. Mine pretty much consisted of meeting with my surgeon, she basically quizzed me to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into. I met with my nutritionist who gave me all sorts of great information about what I was going to be eating (all my phases after surgery), what I should starting eating now (then). Then I met with the NP who basically gave me a whole physical. I don't know if every office does this BUT I had to bring someone with me like a friend, parent, or family member who was over 18. Honestly I still don't know why I had to bring someone, maybe to make sure you had good support for afterward but I know they wouldn't of seen me if I didn't have that someone with me. Good luck with everything!!

Shhh..don't tell my PCP!!!
I would have to say that if my PCP didn't support me I'd go find another one. It might be fun to flaunt in front of her in a few months once you've dropped some weight!

Hope it went well. Can't wait to hear about it.

After Seminar?
Honestly depends on your doctor and what s/he makes you do as far as pre surgery testing. Good luck!!

Liquid Diet
Drink water, that's how I fought most of the hunger. It's pretty hard the first 2 days but by day 3 I was feeling better. Good luck!!
-
Adding Fiber
Only reason I take fiber is to help me stay regular.

MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!
I was always scared that I'd be asked to wear a seat belt extension while traveling but thankfully I was always able to buckle up and no one ever asked me. I know the feeling though and it's pretty much a self esteem killer (not that I have any of that anyway). My trip to Disney is Florida, really excited!!

Still not Hungry
I wasn't hungry until about a week or probably closer to a week and half later. Good luck and congrats on being banded!!!

Where'd it go?
Congrats!!! That's awesome.

3 Weeks Post OP and STARVING
I'm about 5 weeks today and a week away from my first fill. I stay full by drinking my protein and water, it's been doing good so far. Good luck!!!

Energy level after surgery and during the journey?
I definitely felt drained for the first few days. I don't think driving is the best idea. Hope you can find someone to take you both!!

Wrapping My Brain around this
Early summer!!! Sounds exciting.

Gastro Scope??
At my hospital they check to make sure you have someone to drive you home. If someone asked me to get behind a wheel after that I probably wouldn't of been able to. Take someone with you, or they probably wont let you have it done and it's safer for everyone. Good luck!

How unsightly are the incisions?
My long incision is the port scar.

Got appppproved and date SO EXCITED!
My pre op liquid diet was supposed to be 14 days BUT they squeezed me in for my surgery a so I only had to do 11 days. You might NOT have a pre op liquid diet, might want to call and ask.

Nervous Wreck
I feel great!! I had surgery on a Tuesday and by I'd say Friday I was feeling 85% normal. As of today I am well over a month banded and feeling great! You're going to do fine, good luck!!

surgery in 4 days and I blew the pre-op diet
The liquid diet is tough, no matter what kind of diet it is. This is how I looked at it, it was 8 pounds that I lost and will hopefully never see again, after day 3 it wasn't that bad and I got used to it. And honestly it prepares you for after surgery. It sucks and I won't lie I messed up twice BUT I always jumped right back on the next day or even the next hour and my surgery was fine! Good luck with everything, you're going to do fine!

Approved!!!!
Congrats and good luck!!

Does everyone Throw up?
That doesn't sound normal and I think your friend should have herself checked out, if she is still throwing up after meals. I've been banded more than a month and I haven't even had a stuck period BUT I don't have restriction. I was told that yea it might happen once or twice but that's because you're eating too quickly or didn't chew well enough. It's not normal to do it everyday.
