  1. Surgery has been going ok here. I did have surgery. My WBC are still high..lol. They really worry about the WBC when other things in your blood work are out of wack. But when it is your WBC it really doesnt mean a whole lot by itself. I think my abdominal muscles are going to be the last thing to heal- they are still tender... or I may just be a baby..lol
  2. My WBC is ALWAYS higher then normal every time I have my blood drawn. Now it could be do to the fact that I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis but the doc said that may just be how I roll.. It was high post-op and it didnt stop anything
  3. Im right there with you. Last night was a bad night but I keep trying to remember things will get better. I hate the quote but love it at the same time " Nothing you want will ever be easy"
  4. So I went to see the surgeon Monday because I have been running a low grade temp since friday. Surgery was 8 days ago. I also have fluid in my lungs- I can hear it when I take deep breaths. I saw him and he said everything looked good and that I shouldnt worry about the fever or fluid.. Ummm...yeah... Not sure that is the right thing to do. Tuesday I had my first full day back at work. I was hurting so bad when I got home. I do not think a full day of work is wise. Im not sure if I should be worried or not. Anyone else have problems with fevers or fluid in their lungs?
  5. I too am a fast eater. I have been for all my life. I am having trouble breaking the habbit as well as not drinking with my meals or 30min before or after
  6. No hernia repair that I am aware of. I hope it does go away. It can get painful
  7. My post op pain felt like I did sit ups over and over and over again. I had absolutaly no gas pains. I am not 5 days post op and it still feels like ive done a lot of sit ups. It really isnt THAT bad but it still hurts.
  8. Also with this pressure feeling- It happens right after I swallow spit. If I spit it into a cup then I have no pain. Could it be that I am also swallowing air. Is this slimming? This happens even when I dont eat.
  9. I can not laugh at all it hurts so bad where my muscles are. If I do end up laughing it turns into crying from all the pain. Anyone else had or have this issue. How long does it take not to hurt when laughing or straining abdominal muscles?
  10. For almost all of today I have had this presure type feeling. It feels like it is air trying to come up from my stomach through my port. Gas x did help for just like 30 minutes and now it is back. It feels like it is gas but I am not sure. I almost feel like I could burp but I cant. Its really starting to hurt. Any advice?
  11. Hello All, I was just wondering how long you waited till you acutally started or were able to exercise comfortably. I am 4 days post-op and I am still having some pain especially where the port is. Most often when I stand up. I am walking but I can only do so much. My breathing isnt the greatest either. It hurts to take a deep breath. Also when you did start what did you do. Biking, walking, weights etc.
  12. Ive had a lot of burping as well since surgery. After every ice chip, drink etc.
  13. ok- two hours till surgery. I didnt sleep but an hour. Im nervous now.. Good luck to everyone in the next few days. Thank you for all your support and good vibes up until this point.
  14. Finger nail polish remover..it works getting the sticky residue off just dont get it in your open wounds cause it might burn
  15. Just got a call for the hospital..they want me there at 5:30am tomorrow... No rest for me... I will likely not be able to sleep anyway...and then getting up at 4am...uggh... but that can only mean I am surgery #1 for the day!! WOOT!
  16. The castor oil/bowel prep was not my choice. That is the request of my surgeon that I take it. I have done other bowel preps before for colonoscopys. The oil is nasty but it is MUCH MUCH more gentler then the pills, miralax or bicarbinate ( sp?) on your stomach.. It feels like ive already dropped a few pounds with this bowel prep. I also had to do the 10 day high protein diet. 4 smoothies a day.
  17. Surgery tomorrow!!! Just did castor oil bowel prep...
  18. I get banded on Tuesday.. im excited right now but family members are nervous. I dont think that will kick in till tuesday when I leave for the hospital.. Im ready..There was a point where I was pissed off with myself and I just wanted everything to be done. I wanted to have the band right away so I could continue with my new life... Guess that is part of the emotional process
  19. Since I have been on my pre-op diet which is the vanilla bariatric advanatage 4 shakes a day plus 2 cups of certain veggies. Towards the end ( 3 days till day of surgery) I have not ate any of my allowed food. I just dont want to. I drink and drink but I have not had any solids in a few days. Before then the food was my best friend, my comforter, my companion etc and realizing it will no longer be there really hit me hard. I hope that things will be easier after surgery but I know I will still miss it...
  20. I feel like my boyfriend is sabotaging my effort although not intentionally. Unfortionitally we live in a one bedroom apartment and anything you cook quicky smells up the whole place. He needs to eat I understand that but it kills me to smell it. I know he really wants me to have this done and be well. The last day or so he has been eating in another room. That does help but it is still tempting. On monday just 3 days after I started I had to put my cat to sleep. Talk about stressful times-that day I was to sick to my stomach to even do my liquid shakes. The next day I was dressed and standing in the kitchen with my bank card ready for McDOnalds... But I stopped myself. On my diet I can only have a few select ( 16oz) veggies/fruits a day plus my shakes. Absolutaly no meat, chz, or milk which has killed me...
  21. So I have been on my liquid diet since friday and let me tell you it has been a struggle!!! I had also lost my internet access untill today. I keep telling my b/f you know this would be so much easier if I had the support of the forum and from people who know what I am going through. I sure wished I had someones number so I could of called or something on my bad days. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. I am excited to stop drinking the liquid crap...But im back and I can get on here and talk or read if things get rough! Thank you everyone on LBF.
  22. This is good to hear, that has been one of my fears that I will never ever be able to eat certain foods again like steak or shrimp...Atleast that is what my surgeon tells me...I know everyone is different.
  23. So I started my pre-op diet on Friday.... starting weight was 253.... As of this AM I am 247... This has been so hard and I cried every day....I almost quit but I didnt...and I am so glad I didnt. I still have six more days but that is ok... For all of you who are hating the diet...please please stick with it...cry if you must....but please stay with it..It will be worth it in the end... No one ever said it would be easy..
  24. I have the yummy stuff...... I start the 30th
  25. You will need to get a sleep titration done for your CPAP machine. Most surgeons require you to be on it atleast 6 weeks before surgery. This can in turn post-pone your surgery.
