  1. Hi everyone..I was banded on 11/23/9 as of this morning I was down 63 lbs (15 lbs of that was pre-op) although my tickler isn't updated. For dinner I kind of eat whatever..we do family meals however since I have been banded those meals have been a lot more healthier. My mom keeps bringing pizza on her night to cook (my parents live with us) and I keep trying to remind her pizza isn't all that great for me so we kind of argue over that so I eat a couple bites of it and a salad..so i don't deprive myself of anything that might cause a craving but for breakfast and lunch I am very good and very strict. I also cannot live without an afternoon snack. My exercise is walking and chasing a 2 year old. Also, just FYI for anyone who might have noticed that Yoplait just came out with Greek yogurt...if you try Chobani..you cannot switch to Yoplait, I actually had to throw it out. Chobani is awesome!!!
  2. Benefiber is awesome..it doesn't have a taste or an aftertaste nor is it gritty. You can mix it in any type of drink..put up to 2 tsps into your drinks up to 3 times a day..you will be regular. This will help after you are banded and you want to cut out pills.
  3. You could just have a bug..the stomach flu has been going around here. An increase in fruits could also cause you to be a little more fluid in your bowels as well or at least they do me (fresh fruit anyway).
  4. eventually you will learn to make smaller portions for yourself. use smaller plates to begin with. It has taken me until now (almost 4 months) to quit having the thought "oh I want one more thought". I get the hiccups when I am full..then I do not eat any more. I know I will get some slashing for this but I have eaten pizza a couple of times..probably 3 slices total..(1 piece at 3 different servings) thin crust. Long story short but my husband and I recently purchased my parents house..but they didn't move out..so we all live together and my 7 yr old niece moved in also..we have a 2 yr old..so now we have 6 people in the family. We all eat the same meal. My parents are the ones addicted to pizza believe it or not. My niece and I say NO MORE PIZZA and here my mom comes home with more!! LOL. Your taste buds change...once you get banded you will see it is the best decision you will ever make!!!
  5. I was banded on 11/23 and I am down 58 lbs..so follow the rules, get your fills, walk, and anything can happen! :-)

I felt that it was very similar to having a c-section. If you use that same procedure of getting up & down/sitting up you will be fine. Also, take the pain medication. The quicker you get up and walk as well as the more you walk the quicker you will feel better and feel you self again. I have a two year old...so I wasn't able to lift him for 30 days (he weighs 39lbs). Other than that I was back to work in 1 week.
  7. How cute!! She is adorable!! I didn't see the picture before I posted!
  8. I know exactly what you are talking about!! My son is 2 1/2 and is 39 lbs and 38 inches..he has always been at the 98 percentile on the charts and was 9 lbs when he was born..he isn't fat but most do not believe he is 2...but when you see him eat and I am around..you get those looks. I had seen articles prior to being banded about kids who were embarrassed or ridiculed about thier mothers sizes, I swore then I was going to do something--it was kind of like the icing on the cake for me.

I keep looking for your postings...they are awesome!! They do crack me up but they are oh so true!!!
  10. excellent!!!!
  11. I started out after surgery saying this is not a diet this is a lifestyle change. I obeyed all of the rules..liquids to mushies and so forth but when I was able to move on to regular foods I ate and still do everything I want. I have a 10cc band and have had 2 fills for a total of 5 ccs. I do have restriction but I also get hungry sometimes. My indicator is I get the hiccups when I am full. I also watch my portions to a point..I just can't eat that much..so no weighing or measuring. I do make sure I get a minimum of 60 grams of protein in a day. I am not a huge breakfast eater and I am at work by 6am in the morning so I do have a protein shake for breakfast..other than that no one would know that I am "watching" what I eat besides I eat very slowly, I do not drink with my meals and I do not eat much (compared to them). I have a family of 6..we all eat the same meal..I don't cook differently for me. I was afraid that if I "dieted" now that when I reached goal and changed the way I ate..I would gain my weight back. My dr knows my "plan" and thinks I am doing the right thing and he is very restrictive. I do not eat sweets. I did give up coffee..I only had one cup a day..my taste buds changed and I don't like it any more. I drink SF hot chocolate instead. Fast Food..I will eat Wendy's chili but I prefer homemade chili. This is what works for me..
  12. dnunzo...are you still set for the 25th??
  13. I thought I was going to perform surgery yesterday and yank out my ovaries...not sure if it was the band of what. I am on my 2nd fill and I have never had cramps like that!!! Something had to give and I am not giving up my band!!! Cravings..I gave into a two very small handfulls of cashews. I thought that was ok..but the cramps..we will see how next month goes!
  14. Outside--from what I am learning from my insurance company..it is best that you do have the doctor's office file the claim. As I have mentioned before I am self pay also trying to see if they will reimburse me for anything. So far thier (the ins co) biggest complaint is "why wouldn't the Dr file his own claim?" Also, the Dr, the hosp and the anes all three gave me three different claims...so I don't think I would have gotten them all to file thier own. I have my fingers crossed..no rejection yet but I am not expecting anything either.
  15. Same here...ones that didn't look so much like pj's!

The only thing I would like to warn you about is the gum...I too was a big gum chewer but most dr's will frown about chewing gum. You do not ever want to swallow it...that would not be good. Just the thought of getting gum stuck..I broke that habit fast!
  17. Awesome!! Keep up the great work!!!!

I have ordered off of bariaticeating.com I got the smoothie drinks (chocolate)...very good! and I got the mmm Mrs K's cereral (individual bags..easy for work/measuring)? it is very good as well. I thought the same as you..it seemed a little pricey but I was quite pleased.
  19. AWESOME job!!! Yeah my first question was where did all your friends go..then I read the threads!! What a shame!! I have about 50-60 pictures up in my cube...wherever there is metal and a magnet can stick..there is a picture...my management thought it was great..especially whey I said that I am hear 10-12 hours a day so I needed to bring my family with me. Of course all of these pictures are not family style portraits..I have a 2 yr old...anyway. What an awesome job on your weight loss and even if you can't tell..we all can!! You are also a huge motivator with your entries and blogs!
  20. I agree..sushi...ewww!! I think you are fine! I am a PJ person..so yeah for the PJ's! I still can't seem to get rid of a couple pairs that are falling off of me right now!! After surgery you want to be comfortable!
  21. it will all be worth it in the long run!! :frown: I am allergic to caffiene (19 years now)...and I haven't had alcohol in 3 years or so (I had a stroke and the meds I take messes with carbonation in all liqiuds...so even before being banded all carbonation was flat..flat beer..yuk!) Milk you will get in a little while...no sugar..think of the weight you have lost!! As I said it will all be worth it in the long run. My diet was the same...only I had already been on it due to other reasons!! You might want to ask your dr if you can have B12 vitamins (over the counter)..they melt in your mouth...they will give you an energy boost.
  22. I am in the process of submitting my to the insurance company as well. Got my fingers crossed! They haven't denied it yet! My dr told me that he has seen others get reimbursed..for the hospital charges, anes, lab work..just not his fee. I'll take any reimbursement they will give me!!! Anything is better than nothing..not to be greedy!
