Humpty Dumpty
Ever feel like you've fallen off a wall and your not sure if you can be put back together again? I'm feeling a little out of sorts. I always knew I had food issues, but never knew how bad they were until I started this journey. I've of course known that my eating habits were not normal. The usual closet eating and emotional stuff. I never truely realized how much I was attached to food. I love it. It's my way of dealing with everything from boredom to giving my mouth something to do when I have nothing to say. I find a friend in food. I'm hoping that the fact I can see the patterns and am trying to fix them is starting in the right direction to recovery. They say admitting you have a problem is the first step so here it goes. Hi my name is April and I'm a food junkie.

Never wanted to be weighed before in my life.....
Today I had my pre-op appointment and I was really excited about going because it means that I am just that much closer to having my band. I went expecting the usual to be weighed and asked about my pre-op diet, blood draw, urine test, question answers, all those good things that come with surgery. I got all of the above except they didn't freaking weigh me! What the heck I have lost 15 pounds on my pre-op diet I needed some props and I didn't get it. I do understand they were trying to get me out the door because they knew I had to drive 2 hours and there was a looming snow storm but it would have only taken a second. Anyway I'm off my box now. I will be so glad to get banded and get through my liquid stage so I never have to see jello again. All I have to say is if I ever liked jello before this diet has ruined it for me. I don't want to sound over dramatic but I might kill somebody for a bite of a cheeseburger right now. Rip thier arm off just for one tiny bite. Well I guess that's just the food demons calling. I only have a few more days and I know I can do it. I plan on reorganizing my closet this weekend and try and size it so I don't miss out. I have a really cute jean skirt that I haven't worn in years that I hope looks good by the end of summer. And I have 2 words for ya Tank Tops! I have never worn them except for the privacy of my own home. To get my arms thin enough to wear one would make me do such a happy dance. Well I will leave you with a quote. Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't I give myself reasons why I can.

I EAT! (and by eat I mean over-eat)
Im only on the pre-op diet and I totally know what you mean. It's like I'm mourning food. Every commercial I see on TV I think of the last time I ate there and how delicious it was and how much I ate. I tend to associate food with happy feelings and memories. But I also tend to go to food to comfort me when I'm upset. It's all in my head but its hard. Getting on here and venting helps alot. I hope you are doing well.

Any hobbies I can do while I wait for my Insurance?
Hmmmmmm well I scrapbook and that's fun or you could re-organize your closet? Wow come to think of it I'm kind of boring. I guess you could try to watch every movie thats ever won a best picture award that would take up LOTS of time. That kind of sucks about your insurance but atleast they are considering it mine said heck no. Good Luck hope you find a hobby.

(8 days) I hope you get to feeling better and I hope the weight keeps coming off it's always something to look forward to. God bless.

Keeping surgery a secret
It is personal and everyone is different. I haven't been able to keep my big fat mouth shut about it! It's all I think about and I'm so excited that I want to shout it out I'm going to save my life!!!!! Well we will see how that goes. I figure most people just talk about everybody behind their backs anyway so they can talk about me and give everybody else a rest:)

Had Surgery on 12-18-09 and I can't Believe....
Wow way to go! Be very proud of yourself your kicking @**!

I have my surgery tomorrow morning!
Congrats and good luck on your surgery tomorrow. If you do have a hernia your surgeon should fix it while he is in there. It shouldn't add to your recovery time or anything. Good luck again.

Clothing Exchange
Dont be sad. Have you asked your team at your surgeons office? Or maybe if you go to a local support group you could ask around or maybe start one yourself. My support group has one also and you can sell your clothes or just donate them kind of like craigs list. Best of luck.:rolleyes2:

Blue Bird Day
How inspiring.

I am so ashamed
I think you can start over right now. If the head hunger is getting to you and you don't feel motivated to move atleast get on here and look at some of the inspiring stories. Maybe if you strive to do what others have done it won't seem so hard and you can be the mentor to someone later that is having the same struggles you are having now. I wish you all the best and know you can do it if you put your heart in it.

Big Day is Tomorrow!
Oh wow I am so excited for you. I have the same fear about waking up and having them tell me they couldn't place the band. I asked my surgeon how often this really happens and he said it has only happened to him twice and he has done well over a thousand surgeries. So we follow the diet we should be just fine. Congrats on your current weight loss and Good luck with your future journey.

Any January 2010 Bandsters????

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
OMG I am so glad I'm not the only goofball that plans on naming their band! I named mine "Kip" I don't know why it just came to me. I told my boyfriend and he called me a dork and asked why I wanted to name it. I told him so I could say things like "Kip your not still hungry" and "Kip your ticking me off." and "I love you Kip your the best thing that's ever happened to me." I know I'm a dork. Lol.

Start my preop diet on the 3rd
Well I am definately feeling for you taco bell chick that would be very hard. But I have found the best way to get through this is humor. Me and my boyfriend just laugh as I eat my incredibly delicious lovely serving of j-e-l-l-o! He makes me describe the flavor in detail and how savory it is. It makes us laugh and I just keep thinking I'm doing this for me. So good luck and God bless.

Pre-Op Diet????
I am on the 6th day of my pre-op diet and it's not horrible. The head hunger and cravings are starting to lessen. I have a protein shake for breakfast and lunch and a lean cuisine for dinner. I can have sugar free jello or low sodium broth as much as I want. And I can put fresh fruit with my shakes but I eat it on the side instead so I can chew. I have lost 11 pounds so far and that's pretty cool. I keep thinking shrink liver shrink.

Oh my goodness Oh my goodness
The days are flying by and I am getting so excited its hard not to jump around doing a happy dance all day. I've been on my pre-op diet for 6 days now and although it started out super hard the rewards are already showing. I have lost 11 pounds! I am so excited about this. The realization that this is really going to happen for me if I stick with it and follow my instructions is blowing my mind. I am starting to even have skinny dreams. I have to admit though I might never look at jello or broth the same again after a month of it. I am hoping to lose another 5 pounds before surgery even though my surgeon doesn't require it. Well I'm hoping the days keep flying by and I hope my pants start getting a little more baggy.

Embarrassing Diarrhea Question
I know this was an old thread but I just started a liquid pre-op diet and this helped ALOT! Glad to know I'm not getting the flu. Thanks everybody even though it's such a taboo subjest for answering.
