So, I had planned on my "last" meal before I started liquids 2 weeks before my surgery to be lamb korma from my favorite Indian food restaurant. I ate a big lunch and now I'm too full to even think about it. My husband thinks I should just go tomorrow and start after that, but I am going to do the right thing and just say no! It is so hard but I will feel terrible starting off my journey like that. I am probably not going to be able to have it until April, but I WILL be in control. I am in control, damn it!

I have Tricare as well and I thought they pay for everything but they aren't paying for the nutritionist. I am diabetic as well. They told me Tricare covers everything except for that. So, for 4 visits it is $323.50 and that is my total cost.

You're not! Thanks for all the info I'm starting my liquids tomorrow and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with which one to get and this is helping. Also, I'm not sure if everyone already mentioned it but www.dietdirect.com has really good prices!

I agree, research is key. Today actually my nutritionist told me about a couple people who had to come get theirs taken out because they got it done in Mexico. I'm sure you can find a good reputable place and then make sure the clinic you will see for follow ups where you live will accept you.

Hi, I was just hoping I'd be lucky enough to find someone at Fairchild AFB that's banded or getting banded soon.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I was awake during my C-section so that doesn't count...but it is so hard to find type 1's that are going through this. I'm also on the pump. It's so frustrating when people think I'll be off insulin when I lose weight! Anyway, thanks for all the perspectives, it made me feel a bit less nervous.

I am! I was diagnosed when I was 12 and I got the pump when I was about 24. I am getting banded on 1/31 and they were pretty vague with me as well. I have an endo appt. in a couple weeks so I will ask what to do. I am already do some "trial runs" of fasting to see if it drops and dropping the basal accordingly. I am nervous about it though. I had a c-section in 2008 and had to do something similar. I would hate for my sugar level to drop and to have to eat and post pone surgery or something.

Hi there! My name is Susan and I live in Washington. I am doing my psych exam today and then I'm done with the tests! I've already been approved by my insurance, Tricare. In October I went to a seminar, and things seemed to be dragging along but now it feels very close. I'm really excited to start my new life! I have type 1 diabetes and also curious to see how much better my control will be. I am hoping to lose 100lbs.

Same with me, I got approved within 48 hours. The doctors at this clinic won't even submit you if they don't think you'll get approved.
