  1. WOW thats awesome! I hope to be so lucky with mine =) thx.
  2. Well Like I said its low in protien. To feel satified and to make sure you are getting enough nutrients you need more then 20. I get a very yummy Vanilla shake thats 100 cals, 25 gms of protien and 2 carbs at Trader Joes or my local Vitamin store. Met-Rx Protien Plus. Other good tasting alts are: Muscle Milk Lite (several flavors for you to try-out) Designer whey Bariatrix EAS Lite herbalife shakes Isopure Low carb (fruity and clear shake) Isopure Plus (fruity and clear shake)
  3. I luckly dont have to do a pre-op diet. I am worried I will be newly post-op at thankgsiving. I have a lot of travel in Dec so I cant get it done then. I am really really crossing my fingers for beginning of Nov, but now that my TSH appt is mid oct & I am still trying to get a referral for my Upper GI Series, i am sure that isnt happening. So trying not to have a hissy fit. lol.
  4. Well I dont think anyone here has thoguht about what she is actually drinking. Both shakes are high in sugar compaired to what is on our Lists from the nutritionists. My nutritionist told me that I have to stay away from Boost, Glurcerna, Slim fast, carnation, Ensure because they are low in protien and high in sugar. They dont fill you up and cause a sugar crash and headache, ect. What you should be using is something under 10 gms of sugar, and over 20 grams of protien. Fiber around 3-5 grams a plus. There are many great tasting affrodable shakes. I personally love Met-Rx Protien Plus vanilla and Muscle Milk Cookies & Cream. Go to www.bariatricadvantage.com and check out some better options. Good Luck Hun!
  5. I got my appt for my TSH Blood Test that my insurance requires before submission. And Im gonna get my Referral for my Upper GI series. I was hoping to get the referral ASAP. Grr, but better then nothing. I hope I can get banded at the beginning of Nov. I would hate to be on liquids for Thanksgiving. I at least want to enjoy a few oz of mash potatos. lol. can anyone tell me how long they waited for approval after your doc submitted your TSH results?
  6. My BF just turned me on to a vanilla shake he got last night at Trader Joes. It is METRIX Protien Plus Vanilla ( they have chocolate too). Its 100 cals and 23 grams of Protien per scoop. It has NOOOO crappy after taste and is mellow. It reminded me of the ice cream vanilla flavor in a nestle crunch ice cream bar. I am so happy I found a shake better then Muscle Milk. Its ok but their after tastes are gross. Im heading to GNC to see if their price is better then Trader Joes ($23). So 1 container serves 32 scoops. Not bad! Hope this helps anyone on the search for a tastier shake!
  7. Im looking at my chart/list my nutritionist gave me. It says thinned oatmeal, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, yougurt are fine for week 1-2. Just think out with milk for added protien. you can add flavorless protien powder to this as well.
  8. UPDATE: So i was really stressing about my thursday and go back monday plan being foiled. I just talked to my boss and he said that I can work from home as long as i get IT to put some needed programs on my laptop. I feel like I just got a gift. I didnt have enough time off this year to cover a monday surgery and the thought of waiting until Jan made me cry. I LOVE MY BOSS!! =)
  9. Wow I guess I am one of the chosen few. My doc said I dont need a pre-op diet. My nutritionist recommended for practice and to get use to... for me to replace 1 meal with a shake. so I grabbed some Isopure on the way home. Will make it my dinner since I am always too tired to cook when I get home these days. lol.
  10. Has anyone tried The Bariatric Advantage High Protein Meal Replacement shakes? Anyone have a favorite flavor?? Im really picky and too sweet or too chalky makes me puke or gag. Anyone have a recommendation on another brand? Thanks.
  11. Ok so I had a great consult. I got a thumbs up from all my docs. I just need to get an upper GI track xray and a TSH blood test. What I didnt realize is when I said i was approved by my insurance I was worng. My referral got approved, not my surgury. Grr. I feel stupid. lol I new it couldnt be that easy. Ugh. So now I am getting that blood test so I can have my stuff sent off for surgical approval. I was also told my surgery can only be on a Mon or Tues. My plan was to have on a thurs so I could have weekend to recover and go back to work on monday. I am in a delema now. DOH!
  12. I have butterflies in my tummy. I know I was approved, but I have some odd fear that something will hold me up getting a date. Is there anything that I should watchout for in my appt? Any triggers that make them not want to clear you?
  13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! What a great way to enter your 30's =)
  14. What is on the list he gave you??
  15. I suffer from depression and I take 30 MG of Prozac. I can tell you that adding a B complex Vitamin to your morning will help you fight your depression. It will give you energy and will help, believe me. I know when I forget to take my B, so does my BF. He now takes it too and says he feels like poo when he doesnt take it. He is suffering from depression but is unmedicated.
  16. I prefer the EmergenC because the Vitamin C in it wakes me up in the morning. =) the rasberry is TASTY!
  17. For vitamins try EmergenC Multi-Vitamin or Viactiv Chewable Multi-vit
  18. WOW So jeaous. Good Luck with your recovery. =)
  19. Rats. I dont very much time off to spare. is it the sitting all day that is gonna hurt me? Or the stress?
  20. I have my consult with Dr. Roslin on Wed. I am hoping to be banded by Nov. So you would give a thumbs up for Dr. Roslin?
  21. 9/30 is my Consult with Dr. Mitch Roslin @ Lenox Hill in NYC. This is becoming real for me now. I truly didnt expect this approval to be so quick. My doctor only send the referral to HIPUSA last week. I am in utter shock. I am scared, excited, and have butterflies in my stomache. I am scared of pain, scars, restrictions. But, nothing else has worked for me so I guess I need to take the step and soon. Wish me luck!
