What do you wish someone had told you BEFORE your surgery?
I wish my doc had told me to get a tummy binder. I was in so much pain my 1st week. My sister who had a C-section let me borrow her old one and MY GOD, i felt like gold. The compression reduced my pain, swelling and I was only on pain meds for about 5 days. I sleep with mine and go to work in it. I feel that i can be more active with it and fear less about hurting myself when i bend over or go up stairs, ect. Amazon.com: Abdominal Binder: Health & Personal Care

you can get them at pharmacy supply store or just order online if u cant find. I was wearing my sisters band she got at a pregnancy store. I bought my own this morning at a mom and pop pharmacy store. it is a little more ridid then the post preggers binder. But it is actually helping my back too. lol

Is anybody wearing a tummy band for support?
I was having pretty bad lower abdominal pain for last couple of days. I ran out of pain meds and was waking in pain. I was afraid i pulled something or gave myself a hernia or something (lost of horros ran thru my head). But since wearing the binder it is better. I take it off and there is the pain again. Not sure what it is. Its about 9 inches to the left of my belly button. Feels like something is tore.

Is anybody wearing a tummy band for support?
I was talking to my sister who recently had a C-section and she asked me if I wanted to use one of her tummy binders for post op for paint support and gas reduction. I was like a what?? My doc never mentioned one. She said TRY IT! I did OMG I am 9 days post op and feel almost back to normal and I only wore it for a day and 1 night so far. =) WOW. I am not walking slow anymore, and hell there is a lil skip back in my step. I can tell you right now. Go to a pharmacy and buy a tummy binder. It makes you heal faster and helps with gas and overall pain. I got my surgery on a tues and was back at work on Monday. sleeping with my Binder makes me sleep like a baby. I no longer wake up because i accidentally tuned on my side and had instant pain. Last night I slept on my tummy and woek up happy! Best part is that it protect u from PORT PAIN. I can now where my jeans and real waisted pants to work. Thank god! GOOO GET ONE! =)

Port Picture
Hi There. I was very concerned about my port as well. My doc told me I would be able to see it if I became very preggers or had the luck of one day having a small % of body fat. Also, There are many places ur doc can put it. I chose to have it about 2 inches to the left of my belly button. He made my incision in the cave of my belly button so my scar will be hidden. I am happy. It looks like I only have 3 tiny incisions when in fact I have 4. If u look at my pics u wll see my post op pic.

I have my surgery tomorrow morning!
I am so excited! I have my surgery tomorrow. Today I am suffering thrui the 24-hour clear liquid diet. Its REALLY hard to be on it and be at work. Oye. I found out I have a tiny sliding hiatal hernia but have not been told if there will be a repair... Has anyone had this? I am waiting on my admitting nurse to call me back. I really hope I dont have to have hernia surgery as well. This news was a shock after i got my upper GI results.

WOW. crazy. IT looks like the hose isnt even connected to your port anymore. Does anyone else see that?

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
Are you kidding me?? he said NONE?? IF he said there is no difference then you need a better surgeon. I am not a doc and I KNOW there are serious differences.... Like a big one. the Sleeve actually permanantly alters your stomache. The lapbad is completely reversable and non-evasive. If you have to ask that question and he told you that... you need to do more research.

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
I am most likely a Jan bander. I got my approval today and was hoping upon hoping I would be able to get this all done by end of NOV and now knowing that getting my Upper GI series and final doctor ok will prob take 2 weeks. I am bummed, because I can't get surgury in DEC due to travel. Add me to the group. Congrats to all ye approved =).

Got insurance approval today!!! Cloud nine!!
I checked my insurance website today and found I AM APPROVED for the lapband procedure!! =) I am in shock! So immediately I called my surgeon's office to talk to the surgury coordinator. She never returned my call. GRRR! Next step. I called my doctors office to speed up my Upper GI referral and found out my doc of 7 yrs left the practice. I am freaking out. She was helping me jump threw all these insurance hoops. Now because her replacement doesnt start until 11/16 I cant see a doc for my final surgical ok exam. I am utterly pissed. I have seen her every 2 weeks for last 2 months doing tests for this surgury. She never mentioned this to me. Its gonna screw my Nov band chances. I am traveling in Dec so I will now have to wait until Jan. I am heart broken. I am thrilled I am approved. But at the same time my bubble was burst for 2009 opt date =(. I wanna cry....
