  1. I prefer Hell over this any time!!
  2. First off, you have lost a lot of weight. It will fluctuate. Do not beat yourself up over it. It is not enough to "watch" what you eat. Log it online or on paper and you may see that you are eating more than you thought. If you don't see what is causing it, you can discuss what you've logged with a nutritionist and they may be able to point you in the right direction. And drink plenty of water. At least 64 ounces a day.
  3. Congrats!! Set whatever goal you want and if you don't hit that goal just look at all of the weight you did lose trying to hit it and pretend you never set it.
  4. The surgery and fills have nothing to do with how much weight you lose or how fast. You lose weight by burning more calories than you consume. The band is just a tool that should make you feel satisfied after eating less food if you eat correctly. Have you been logging everything you eat? There are many free sites for doing this online. This really helps because you may see that you are eating more than you thought and it will also help when you visit a nutritionist. I have not been banded yet but am losing weight steadily by logging my intake and comparing it to the calories I am burning. There is a BMR calculator here: Basal Metabolic Rate : Calculators : Discovery Health That will show you how many calories you are burning while resting. You'll have to add any from exercise in.
  5. I'll be blunt. Your surgeon is an ass! My BMI was 55+ in September when I first met with my surgeon. We discussed my eating habits and sedintary lifestyle a little. He then discussed the pros and cons of each and asked me which procedure I was interested in having done. He did not try and steer me in one direction or the other and I don't think any surgeon should because of BMI. I am not banded yet but have done enough research that I could probably perform the procedure on myself. Well, maybe not that much. Losing weight with the band or bypass has nothing to do with your BMI. It is all about your eating habits and lifestyle. If you are ready to alter these a little then you will succeed with either. Keep doing research on this site and others and you will find this to be true. Good luck!!!
  6. I should have had my date 2 days ago but my cardiologist left something off of his release. Hopefully that will be cleared up by next week. This morning the scale said 300. Not only do I love round numbers but that means even without the band I have lost 1/3 of the 195 pounds I had to lose. Last week I was having second thoughts but I am gung ho to get my band now and it better keep me from ever seeing 300 again. I am figuring I will be 285-290 by the time I get it and around 265 for my first fill.

  8. I'm spend a lot of time at the dog park on Davis with my babies that as of today outweigh me! That doesn't mean I will be nicer

I found the numbers once but haven't been able to locate them recently. The fatality rate from lapband surgery is like 1 in 2,600
  10. Ah, why wait? I cheated and read her blog. She was about as far away from warm and sunny as you get in the winter. Canada. and she brought the Canadian cold air back to Texas with her.
  11. Too funny. You are going to love the answer!!!
  12. I don't know about health being the PC answer but I am surprised by the results. I figured it would be 5 to 1 for health. While reading a couple of other threads a lot of people were claiming that they wanted to look good and being healthy was just a side effect. So, I made the poll to see if this held true and I guess it does. I wish the best to everyone no matter the reason we are doing it.
  13. Two hours is way too long every week. Most of us just watch for the challenge and the weigh-in. There has to be 45 minutes worth of commercials during it. I'd like to see them give the viewer an idea of what we should be doing going into every commercial break. I.e. squats, crunches, etc... I may suggest this to NBC. What do you think?
  14. Borrow from your retirement if possible. Put it on a credit card. Talk to surgeon's office about a finance plan. Refinance the new house.
  15. Common sense would say that is enough justification. Unfortunately the insurance companies don't use common sense when figuring this stuff out. Somebody did post yesterday that tricare approved them in 2 days. So, that is a good omen. As for the psych eval; do not worry about it! They ask all kinds of questions but nothing really incriminating for lack of a better term. Depression helps you get approved, it doesn't hinder!
  16. Teddy K is dead and the cold air that was supposed to balance him is freezing the nation. :smile2:
  17. Great!! What are your plans for the extra $3,000?
  18. Hi, By feet and back problems, do you mean they hurt or have you had to have surgery or take medication for them? Do you suffer from sleep apnea; high blood pressure; high cholesterol, type II diabetes or depression due to your weight?

Have you already looked here? LapBandTalk.com - LapBand Surgeon Search If you are looking to ask people from Wisconsin for referrals, you'd should ask here as well: Wisconsin - LAP-BAND Good luck!

Next time you come back from Canada, LEAVE THE COLD AIR UP THERE!
  21. You pouch doesn't have to stay full. Once your stomach signals the brain that it is full, the brain is supposed to say, "see you in another 4 - 5 hours."
  22. This damn Canadian air mass should have stayed up north where it belonged!
  23. How much Water are you drinking. Water plays an important role in weight loss. It purges the waste from your system. as gatorgal mentioned, if you don't get enough water, your body will start retaining Fluid because they are not being washed away.
  24. Doesn't it kill you when somebody says, "you're only as old as you feel" and you feel a lot older? I want to strangle the originator of that line.
  25. Would you like some cheese with your whine?
