How Do You Log Your Calories?
I use Bodybugg for the calories I eat and the calories I burn.

Why are you losing weight?
There is no "other" choice here because I didn't want to offend. I want to lose weight for all of the reasons I listed but my health is by far the most important reason.

Pet Peeves
Keep on reading and you are bound to commit one of my peeves. This week's peeve is adults that think they have to explain themselves to their young children as if they were equal.

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Not Losing Loser needs a Mentor
You've lost 35 pounds. That is not failure!!! Are you feeling restriction and eating around it or did you never get to your sweet spot? I'm not a good mentor because I get frustrated easily and hurt people's feelings without trying to but I can give you a few generic tips for weight loss for the banded or gentile. Log everything that you eat. EVERYTHING. This will help you see how many calories you are consuming. You may be eating more than you think. Drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day. Try to walk at least 30 minutes 3 or 4 times a week.

Having slight second thoughts
Was supposed to get my date today but nothing ever works out for me. I'm used to it after 45+ years. No major setback at all, I just have to wait for my surgeon's office to contact my cardiologist and get his ok for me to stop taking Plavex for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I hope he is ok with it. I had stents placed in my coronary arteries after the heart attack 3 months ago and you are supposed to take Plavex for 6 months after. It just gives me more time to research and think.

Biggest Loser 2010
Less than half of them are fatter than I was 3 months ago at 365 pounds and I consider myself to be "typical" obese person. Come on MinPin, you're in Texas. Everyone is bigger here. I should make a poll too see how many think there will be a death on the show prior to them finding a 600+ lb contestant. No, I don't want to see a death but I don't know how they made it this far without one.

just got my date today
Congrats! I just got home from surgeon's office and I was supposed to get my date today but my cardiologist did not specifically list in the release for surgery that I could stop taking Plavex for 2 weeks. Now, I have to wait until they contact him and hope he gives the ok.

Are you a man, a woman or something else?
I have. Imagine when it is used in the context, "Who's that other guy with your wife?"

If I knew pre-op what I know post-op, I would have....
I am getting my date tomorrow and I am almost too confident going into this. I hope after I am banded, I can come back here and still not be able to answer this question.

It's contagious...
Great story and congrats on your weight loss to date. Keep and eye on everybody because that contagious stuff works in both directions. One person slipping can trigger an avalanche.

Pppl banded but not losing much weight!?! why?!
I suggest reading every blog. The success stories are inspirational but I learn just as much from those that have failed. Knowing why they failed is going to help me I hope. Getting my date tomorrow!!!

Are you a man, a woman or something else?
I guess the answer is D, All of the above. Both reasons you gave and I wanted to give an outlet for those that wanted to be counted but didn't feel like answering honestly. I don't think I have to genuinely care to be courteous, do I? MOTG, Please refrain from using the term immature when describing me or my actions. I am a 45 year old man. I am way past the point of immature. Below is a list of acceptable terms: abusive, bad-mannered, barbaric, barbarous, blunt, boorish, brusque, brutish, cheeky, churlish, coarse, crude, curt, discourteous, graceless, gross, gruff, ignorant, impertinent, impolite, impudent, inconsiderate, insolent, insulting, loutish, low, obscene, offhand, peremptory, raw, savage, scurrilous, surly, uncivilized, uncouth, uncultured, ungracious, unmannerly, unpolished, unrefined, vulgar, wild

I made it one year!

Wondering?
Janet, None of my advice is medical at all. Only a doctor should advise people on how to lose weight? What are you talking about and what does me not being banded have to do with anything?
-
Are you a man, a woman or something else?
It's where they don't punch somebody in the crotch to see if they have testicles. :smile2: Wow, I didn't mean to start this whole conversation with the poll but am amused. Keep it up.

Pppl banded but not losing much weight!?! why?!
Being banded does NOT cause weight loss. The lapband does not make you lose weight!! You can be banded for 50 years and gain 100 pounds. You lose weight by consuming less calories than you burn NOT by having a piece of plastic placed into your abdomen. No matter how long ago. The lapband is a tool that when filled appropriately will make you feel full sooner and quell hunger. Once again, YOU have to lose the weight, the little, plastic thing is just a tool.

I'm a mess. GAINED
Did your band not slow you down? I am getting banded to not gain weight. I can lose it on my own

WLS for teens - what do you think?
I think under 21 is too young. They aren't mature enough to make life altering decisions just yet. Nor have they been alive long enough to try the safer alternatives adequately. That being said, I am 45 and have no kids so my opinion really doesn't matter.

Nutrition appointment question??
I met one on one with the nutritionist once and then once a month in a group for my 3 month waiting.
