Borrow from your retirement if possible.

Put it on a credit card.

Talk to surgeon's office about a finance plan.

Refinance the new house.

thanks for the advice. Any ideas are welcome. The credit card is a no go, but maybe the house. Has anyone used a flex spending account?

I am very willing to travel. I can't use my house so I am running into many road blocks. I have 3-4 grand in a flex spending account but I still need 5-6 grand for the Dr. Kishenbaum in Colorado. Thanks for the ideas and keep them coming! ;)

Hi Sarah (Go Tigers),

Is your insurance not covering anything on the band? I went to Dr. Van Wagner in St. Louis and I believe he offers a payment plan, his part of the surgery is only about $3500, the surgery center is a bit more, but it's worth a look--and you wouldn't have to go to Colorado...although you may be dead set on that Dr. too, which I can understand...
