  1. I was sleeved in Aug 2014 and lost 130lbs and got to my goal weight of 165lbs. In January 2017 I got pregnant (not on purpose) and had my baby Oct 2017. My starting weight when I got pregnant was 172 and I gained about 43lbs. I am down to 195lb so I still have about 25-30 to lose. I had my first child (July 2009) when I was 270lbs and everything was MUCH harder and I only gained 19lbs. I ended up having a c-section with him but I am not convinced that was weight related so much as it was a provider issue. He was 8.4lbs (I am 5'10) but I measure super small during both pregnancies. I didn't have gestational diabetes with either pregnancy. With second baby weighed 8.8lbs and I measured small (several weeks behind) as well. I was unable to breastfeed either baby but that is unrelated to weight. Definitely concentrate on yourself first and THEN get pregnant. As almost a 4 year veteran I am struggling to get the baby weight off and it gets much harder as you get further out because your pouch isn't as restrictive. Plus during pregnancy you will find a way to eat more. As for deliveries- I had a unnecessary c-section with my first and a successful VBAC with my last in Oct '17. Find a provider that is supportive of low intervention methods and willing to wait it out and let you move during labor. There was an 8 year gap between my deliveries and had I known then what I know now I wouldn't have had to a c-section the first time.
  2. I'll be 2 years out in about two weeks. My hair is still falling out. It did stop about 15 months in but started back up this last March. I've lost about 130lbs. I also have PCOS and Hashimoto's but had this previously and maintained thick curly hair with no issues. I've been to several doctors with varying opinions...my PCP offered me a wig brochure. ???? It's definitely not to that point yet. My b12 was slightly low but nothing outrageous. My Iron comes back on the lower side of normal but my ferratin levels are a bit low. I've added in tons of supplements recently to see if that helps. It is very depressing going from tons of long lovely hair to short, thinning, dry hair. Help!
  3. Thanks for the tips Glitter Eyes! I will have to try that. LexieMustang, my thyroid is levels are on the low normal side. Around .7-1. I feel physically better than i have in a couple long time. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  4. Walkermy ...if you don't mind me asking what kind of hormonal issue? I have PCOS which is basically a hormonal issue but never caused hair loss prior to surgery and I have had it for 16 years. What kind of treatment did you use?

  6. 100lbs lost and now finding that I am just irritated with how my body looks. Yes, I know its not just about that. I get it. But right now my self esteem is not all that great. I've lost probably 75% of my once awesome thick wavy hair. My thighs are sagging, I have no boobs, and my arms are flabby. Its summer and I don't feel confident in wearing any of the stuff I can now fit in. I don't typically have body image issues...even when I was heavy but losing all the weight to feel disillusioned with how I look now is frustrating. Apparently my brain had tricked itself into thinking after I dropped all the weight underneath would be waiting a Victoria's Secret model. Silly brain.
  7. The honeymoon phase is officially over. I am post op 7 months and down 92lbs. The last 50 lbs. are coming off painfully slow. Maybe 3-4lbs a MONTH. So, I am regrouping and analyzing. I noticed my calorie intake is much more than I originally thought. What is the typically calorie intake this far out? Is it still 800-900 a day? Thanks!
  8. Its not an April Fool's joke...I finally made it to ONEderland on April 1st roughly 8 months after surgery. 4lbs shy of 100lbs lost. Now the hard work begins. Still have 49lbs to go!

    April 28th!

Well I am a red blooded woman who likes all of those things AND my husband had the sleeve done 3 weeks after I did last August. Collectively we have lost roughly 235lbs. We eat red meat now in moderation (probably one or twice a week). We eat a lot of chicken and sometimes pork. As for beer....we don't' drink anything carbonated. My husband was what I like to call a "beer snob or enthusiast" and he is worried it is a slippery slope. He has lost 135lbs in 7 months and he is afraid if he starts drinking beer again it will just stall his weight loss. Its just not worth it. It is empty calories and hard to control. I think as we get further out he may feel confident to have the "OCCASIONAL" beer but I think it won't be anytime before he hits his 1 year mark. He has tried other alcohol with low calories but all in all we don't drink much anymore. As you drop weight and see yourself drink you will find that beer isn't worth it when your scale doesn't move the next day. I would say don't plan on drinking beer for a long while. Keep your steaks lean and eat them in moderation after your surgeon clears it. You will find that your life gets filled up with new things to replace eating and drinking. Like walking, jogging, Frisbee golf, volleyball, going to the Sky Zone place for kids and jumping on trampolines and into foam pits. Eye on the prize....! OH and I forgot to mention the other big thing: SEX. It is way better. Worlds better. It is worth it. Stick with the plan.
  10. Don't get me wrong a majority of the time I am constantly reminded about how good I feel physically. That is 97% of the reason I did this surgery. But that last 3% finds myself wishing my legs looked decent in a pair of shorts. I didn't do all this work to know feel insecure and have a "better than nothing" or "at least I am not fat mentality." I want my cake and to eat it too dammit! I don't want to now be insecure about the saggy skin or flabby arms, or flabby but and deflated boobs. I will probably look into plastics once I hit goal. I have heard horror stories about thigh lifts but have heard fairly good stories about brachioplasty (arm lift) and of course boob jobs.

    The Honeymoon is O.V.E.R.

Thanks folks! I have started walking about 2 miles a day and adding outdoor activity on the weekends. We'll see if that helps. I won't hold my breath. I am thinking about joining a Zumba class. We'll see what happens.

    My very first bikini!

    You look fabulous! Congratulations!
  17. I am down 85lbs today. I have been a lot more private about my pics and journey in general. Its harder being a woman... My hubs on the other hand is a lot more open. I was thinking about posting pics at goal (still have 60lbs I'd like to lose) but I think I will start a new thread with current pics. Hopefully it will provide some encouragement for someone else.
  18. My husband and I both had the sleeve done in August 2014. I just wanted to share his awesome transformation so far! Best decision we have made for ourselves! Surgery Date: Aug 28th, 2014 SW: 353 DOS: 337 CW: 246 Hit his 100lb loss on Dec 26th, 2014 - 3 months and 28 days.
  19. Hi All, So I don't have my sleeve yet ( I am in the pre-op phase) but my husband and I are both planning on having it done. I am just curious to see if your love life has improved at all since losing weight. I adore my husband and think our sex-life is average...of course I am sure he would love more of it but I figure just the sheer energy and sex appeal has to increase....or is that wishful thinking? I would love to hear any experience feel free to be as private or detailed as you wish. Thanks!
  20. Thanks everyone! I have done well but I am just really proud of him and wowed by his transformation. I think when you see someone everyday you see them differently. I was floored when I saw this picture taken July 19th, I might add, because I never remember him being that heavy. The sleeve was always my journey and he jumped on board hesitantly at first only because he was afraid he would lose me if I lost weight and he didn't but now he is unstoppable!
  21. Sleeved on August 7th and down 70lbs...loving the new me already however, totally sad about the gobs of hair I am losing. I have always had a ton of beauftiful, long, thick dark hair. One of my best qualiteis and my security blanket. I didn't lose one strand of hair during pregnanacy or even after and I was sure that it wouldn't happen to me and if it did "I had hair to spare"! At about my two month mark it started falling out and has been ever since I even chopped it short to help and it seems to be getting worse. I am just so sad. I don't feel as pretty or feminie. I dread taking a shower becaue of the handfuls that fall out. It ends up getting pulled back everyday. I wouldn't trade my weight loss but its still depressing. I am a logical and practical woman but the hair thing is taking me for a loop. I think it is because I used it to help mask my weight. If I had gorgeous, long hair then it would take the attention off of my size. Who knows, all I know now is this sucks. lol Thanks for letting me vent.

    So sad about Hair Loss

Thank you soooooo much ladies! It is really nice to know I am not alone. As much as I thought I was prepared I wasn't. I am hopeful it will stop soon.
  23. I am 7 weeks out today and down 47lbs including the 8lbs I lost during the liquid diet.

    Favorite Vitamins

THE BA vitamins made me horrible sick. Now, I take AlternaVites which is like a pixie stick style that dissolves on your tongue. The ingredietns are pretty good too. For whole foods and excellent ingredients try Garden of Life Raw One for women. They have lots to choose from. I still cant stomach the big pills yet but once I do I will moving to those.
