I feel like crap ):
I am glad you are feeling better, it is scary when you feel sick like without warning. Even though it may melt in your mouth it must have clumped up going down your stoma, I notice that when I eat I can almost feel it filling up my esophagus and then I feel full. You should still be on mushies add some salt and pepper to your cottage cheese if you want that salty taste, or have the chedder and mash potato mix, that helped cure my craving for my favorite chedder potato chips. When do you go back to school, since I teach I go back on Monday and the kids don't come back till 27th.

scale question...
I didn't have a pre-op diet and stayed about the same weight up to surgery, which was 8/5 but then I dropped 18 pounds the first 13 days and now I have been the same every weight since, even though I have been walking more each day. I start mushies tonight, so I don't expect to lose anymore weight till my first fill which is mid September and wouldn't be surprised if I gain some but I don't know. Everyone who has some time on us say be patient it will happen.

now i need some encouragement =/
Yeah, I know what you mean, I teach high school and am off in the summer and I don't have a lot of people I hang out with. But I know as soon as I get back to work in a two weeks I will be so busy I wouldn't be thinking about how much I weigh or food I can't eat, all I will know is that my clothes will start to fit looser and looser and that is something to look forward to. You are doing great, keep up the good work... and Yes you will get there before you know it.

Your 1st goal and reward !!
my first goal is to get under 200lbs, and my reward is the Wii Active game to compliment my Wii Fit game. The other reward is an increased libido.

OMG!!!! I Finally feel like me...
Thanks, I was feeling so blue the other day because I was in pain, I felt thirsty, and I was expecting my dad to come over to take my son fishing and how much I wanted to go but I didn't feel too hot. then I woke up and only had shoulder pain once, I stayed awake and survived going fishing with little discomfort. I am use to major knee pain but no tylenol not tired at the end of the day it hit me I am back... So happy... So yes there is a light at the end of the tunnel and this morning I still feel good, little shoulder pain here and there but much better than last week or even the begining of this week...

Are they insensitive or am I over-sensitive?
No, you are not being over-sensitive as they were defintely being insensitive they know what you are going over. even hubby says they should have eaten that food before they got there. and you went through all that trouble to get food for them, I hope they realize how insenstive that was for you... Some people don't get it.

now i need some encouragement =/
Erin, you need to get with your support group via your surgeon, that way they can help you find someone close to your age range or at least your goal. The other thing is that you have to remember you just had surgery, and your body will rebel and hold on to weight if you push too hard too fast. Please honey, take it slow... I know the minds of the youth is to get things done yesterday but you have got to give yourself time. This band is not a quick fix, and I know you know that, sometimes people who don't rest enough will hold on to weight, as that has happened to me, it not just food intake. Believe me if you follow this you will reach your goal in no time...

Hernia discovered during surgery!
I had the same thing happen to me, but I didn't do any test to see if it was there prior, The only symptoms I would have is an occasional heart burn that would be so slight that I never paid any attention to it, I am just glad they found it as a friend of mine's father who was of older age, died two weeks after having his repaired after suffering years of this and never knowing the cause...

What kind of soups are you guys eating ??
I made a big pot of my version of the Olive Gardens "Zuppa Tuscani soup which is sausage, potato, spinach and cream, after I cooked I saved some in the frezzer for mushie stage and blended the rest after a day of sitting and it was very thin and good... then I have had Green Bean juice from fresh made greenbeans seasoned with Smoked Pork Neck bones, as well as black eye peas soup with the peas strained out. and homemade egg drop soup which has a good egg protien in it. Other than that canned chicken broth 50% less sodium turned out to be okay and Jello, My instructions were clear liquids for the first four days and full liquids to include Jello, pudding and Yogurt, but I am still feel rather full off of most of my clear liquids and protien shakes no sense of hunger till yesterday and even that is short lived...

abbypoo!!!!!
Congrats abbypoo - don't worry just continue to sip on water as much as you can for me I had no urge to eat or drink until day 5 then all I wanted to do was drink, just started feeling hungry yesterday but my jello and protien drinks last me four hours at a time still. take your pain meds on the prescribed schedule it really helps those first few days out.

My incision is infected!!
oh my, you poor thing I am glad you went in to get it checked out. I still have a stirri strips over my port sight which is when the knot is under my stomach area but it isn't sore, I may call and insist on an appointment sooner just to be sure. I hope it all works out so that you won't need another surgery..

DDR and Wii Fit
Hubby and I saw the premier of Wii Active on G4 and it is awesome, they measure your body by the scanner and you don't have to use the remote as much, it uses the scanner to meaure body fat and the wii board to weigh you in... I am so syched to get it. I think you may be able to look at it online via nintendo site or under G4 TV, it is going to be very nice... I did my wii fit today and it confirmed my 14lb weight loss so far I am too excited I just hope it is still gone when I start mushies soon.

I made it thru and happy
Good luck, I made it through the surgery a week ago, and at first I made could only take a sip or two for at least three-four days now I can take up to 6oz. at a time. it depends on how much swelling you have during the surgery and that differs per person.

What meds did your doctor give you after surgery?
I was sent home with Duladid (morophene) tablets very small, Protonix - 1 a day for six months, and Reglan 30 tabs to take as needed. and liquid regular adult tylenol, I have only had to take the duladid once a day now and tylenol twice a day so far so good. Gas-x strips have been my best friend

10 days post-op and still in some pain
I too have a knot under my port incision, the doctor says he thinks it is a seroma - which is a collection of cells almost like a blister but it will self absorb on its own it not infectious. But I would call and check with your surgeon if you are concerned.

Those that have been banded.....
LMAO - oh my goodness what a funny thread, I agree I thought they should have touched me up while all was displayed too... I went commando as well I was thankful AF didn't visit till after the surgery.

DDR and Wii Fit
OH my a girl after my own heart. I love DDR and Wii Fit I didnt think to get on the Wii scale, that is a great idea. I wouldn't do DDR just yet but the Step play on wii fit is pretty good and they have the walk run mode too... I played Karoke to help me expand my lungs and get the gas out with my children.
