  1. That is awesome, and what is great is that you can continue to see results with the band... I have started cutting out fast foods, but sodas are hard for me I love the fizz, but I know that will be a no no once I get banded... Great job:thumbup:
  2. Got the phone call from the pre-op surgical nurse today to ensure that they have all of my paperwork, and bloodwork in, i am so excited, my husband and I put together the "Liquid Menu" for the next month and are getting the ingrediants together to fix the broths so that they will be ready in serving size for when I come home... we have put together these so far... Collard & Kale Juice (made from fresh greens and pork neckbones) Protien sugar free jello - using clear protien with jello mix Cream potato soup - tastfully simple recipe Chicken broth - fresh chicken breast
  3. I just finished my pre-op appointment this morning got blood work and all completed, I haven't been put on a pre-op diet or anything just the usual don't eat after midnight stuff, I guess everyone is different. I am super excited and nervous at the same time. My husband and I have been planning the different broths to make to help me through the first three weeks of liquids, and food for the mushie stage too. My children are excited too. one week to go...:smile2:
  4. Congrats that is wounderful they approved you so quickly...:smile2:
  5. This has been a really emotional rollercoaster over the past few weeks, and I know you all mean well. I do appreciate the support, and input... Thanks again
  6. RestlessMonkey - thanks but I think you misread my last post... I cannot afford RNY,and I am OK with the option presented to me, and although not my first choice... I will be fine... I came to register on this site for support and to gain insight into a procedure that I will be having, and that is that.
  7. Thanks for all of your responses, I think I am in that stage where I am not getting what I was prepared for over the past few months and it just sucks. That being said I am not the type of person to play the self-defeated victim, so I will give it my all and I will be sucessful with it, it is more about those things not under my control that gets me worked up. So I am okay with getting the band with a child in college and three in high school I can't afford self-pay at this time, however, I am willing to give it my all, my husband actually wanted me to get the band anyway even though he has had the RNY, he thinks the band would be better for me, so I have the support here, but I don't have anyone close to me that has had the band other than the support group and the people I have been reading about on this site. I am pretty much a control type A person, so it just takes me a minute to get use to a change. I just got word from the insurance company that everything is a go, I have been approved as of yesterday I got my new instructions from the nutritionist and doctors office, and chewable Vitamins and now I am using this time to try the different protien shakes to see what I will like. Thanks again for your input it did put things into perspective, I look forward to sharing my journey with you all.
  8. Hi, I am in the pre-op stage of getting my lap-band, I must admit it was not my first choice as I wanted to have the RNY, however my insurance will only cover the band, so right now I feel like I am forced to choose a method I don't totally agree with. My husband had the RNY, and so have my sister and cousin all with great sucess, however, my view is that I am settling for next best. I have been researching the band and how people have done with it over the past week, since the insurance company informed me of the change. I know I will be okay but I am concerned about the possibility of having the band replaced in five years, or any other surgeries as a result of this decision. I hope that is not the case, as I am scheduled for surgery in two in a half weeks and I am trying to wrap my head around the liquid diet and pureed food, I don't know how one cannot feel hungry while eating so little, I plan to go to more support group meetings to get a better idea of what to expect, please share good bad or indifferent. Thanks, Abingdongirl:redface:
