optimum heart rate for cardio
I know everyone has their opinions on this but I would like to hear them. The program I am on has me doing 30mins of cardio after my workouts every other day. It states to keep my heart rate at 75-85% of my max heart rate. What does everyone else keep their heart rate at while doing cardio. My heart rate shoots up to about 170 and I really have to slow in down to get it into the 150s... opinions please.

Coffee talk
I have been drinking a cup of black coffee everyday since 3 weeks out. I actually use it as a pre-workout stimulant. I mix 8oz of strong black coffee with 1 scoop whey isolate and a pump or two of different torani flavors... usually french vanilla or english toffee. Its been almost a week with no ill effects. Actually it makes me feel great during my workout and gives me an added push during cardio.

Cardio after lifting... should I take protein before cardio?
Been back in the gym for about a week now only doing cardio. Today I started a 12 week lifting program followed by 30mins of cardio. I have read to drink Protein after lifting. So should I drink a Protein Shake right after my lifting workout and then proceed to do my 30 min cardio or can the protein wait until my complete workout is over. thanks

Breaking thru
That's great to hear... what do you think broke the stall. Do anything different or it just broke on its own?

I can't stop cheating on my pre-opt diet. :(
I cheated every day on my 2 week pre-op diet. I wasn't cheating in the sense that I sneak a small bite here and there. I was cheating in the sense that I would have a big steak dinner with all the fixings. I did not lose any weight on my pre-op diet. Every doctor is different and there are some that don't even require a pre-op diet. I am not trying to justify cheating on your pre-op diet but I am saying that its not as black and white as most make it seem. Dont get down on yourself for cheating. Just give it your best and try again to stay focused on your diet the next day. Also wanted to add that the pre-op diet is 100 times harder than the post-op diet.

Before and after photos (6 months)
Wow what a change in such a short period of time. You dropped 135lbs in 6 months? Was 335 your surgery date weight? I hope I have similar results to you... amazing.

Question about Protein and Water
I am actually not sure if you count it or not. I mix my shakes with almond milk for the added taste and calcium... I do not count the 16oz of almond milk I get from my two daily shakes towards my daily liquid intake.

Are Flintstones complete really good enough? Critic my vitamin list please
I am a couple days shy of 4 weeks post op. I am currently taking Celebrate Multivitamin capsules but sometimes they make me feel ill. Its hit or miss, has nothing to do if I take them on a full stomach or not. Sometimes they are fine and sometimes they make me feel like I am going to puke them up. So for the last couple days I have been taking 2 Flintstones complete Multivitamins. They are chewable, go down fine and stay down with no ill effects. I would love to continue taking these as my daily multivitamins but I have read so many mixed reviews on them. Can anyone verify if these are ok for someone with a VSG. I doubt they are good enough for DS or RNY patients but what about people like us without malabsorption issues. Can you guys check out my daily list of Vitamins I am taking to let me know if I am missing out on anything. Again, I have read so many mixed comments in regards to what I should be taking that it would be nice if I can get some feedback on the exact vitamins I am taking daily. I do not take an Iron supplement because I was told men do not have to... is this correct? I take... 2 Flintstones complete chewables 1 Celebrate B12 2 packets of Upcal D 500mg each of Calcium. I mix my Protein shakes with almond milk. I get an additional 450mg calcium per shake, drink 2 shakes per day. Total calcium 1900mg daily.

3 week Post op update!
Its nice to hear that your doing so well and rocking your sleeve like a pro. I was going to mention that's a lot of Protein for your body to absorb in one sitting but looks like its taking you most of the morning to finish... I think the rule of thumb is 30g max every 1.5 hours, but you probably already knew that lol. How are your incisions healing? Are you planning to apply anything to them to help with scaring? Congrats to your beloved Baltimore Ravens... wish my niners won, but it was a very entertaining game. Give my regards to your mom

how much can u eat?
Eating carbs makes you crave more carbs

Constipated... What else can I do? TMI
I think your Dr just wants you to focus on getting your fluids in. At 4 days out I was literally only drinking gatoraid, thats it. No broth, protein nothing. Just tons of water and gatoraide. On my 5th day is when I had my Protein shake and started logging my calories, protein and carbs. I think a week out I was already drinking 2 shakes a day and a few cups of Soup. You need to call you doctor and clarify what he expects you do eat.

Constipated... What else can I do? TMI
I am happy to announce that as of an hour ago I won that battle and finally feel relief... was getting a little nervous especially with the though of my doctor having to manually clean me out lol. I know it can't be a lack of Water because I drink at least 100oz a day. I am going to continue with the MOM for a little while till I feel regulated, incorporate chia seeds in my Protein drinks and try and come up with some type of daily "green" shake. How do you prep your chia seeds for your shakes... do you soak them first? Do you think added them to my morning and post workout Protein Shakes might be enough to cure the constipation?

Constipated... What else can I do? TMI
So I have been doing great post sleeve up until the last 2 days. I was having a BM every other day since surgery up until about 5 days ago. It has been 5 days since my last BM and I am getting seriously backed up to the point that its very painful. I have been taking a stool softener, milk of magnesia and today my first suppository. Nothing seems to be working and I seriously feel I might hurt myself if I try and push it out. Any other ideas? Once this passes what should I be doing/easting to prevent this from happening again? I know I need more Fiber in my diet but can anyone give me some examples... I don't want to add to many carbs to my diet so please keep that in mind. thank you

GOING ALONE
I was so happy that I went alone. I was a little nervous but I know myself and I knew I would have preferred to be alone. Everything went smoothly and never at 1 point did I feel I would have needed my wife or a friend there for help or support. If there is any advise I would give is to make sure you upgrade to first class or an exit aisle seat for the flight home. It was so nice to be able to get up and stretch, move around and get in a more comfortable resting position. Good luck
