    1/2 marathon & food??

    I am running a half marathon in january. I know you need to eat a lot of complex carbohydrates for energy, particularly the night before the race. However i can't eat pasta, ice, bread, ect. So im open to suggestions from anyone who has ran long distance with a active Lap-Band.

    thanks for all the replies. I believe im going to try the oatmeal and banana route. My Dr. suggested those as well I will give the gel a chance. im figuring im about 3hour runner for the half. so ill need to try it. The race is in January, phx, AZ So it will be nice out. im very intimadated but i tihnk i can do it. im still 195 pounds but i was 290. so to even imagine wanting to do this a year ago was a joke!!!! But i watched my boss train for the san deigo rock and roll one and she suggested i try it, i figured that will help me get the last 50 or so pounds off.

    Overeating!

    ive been in that boat and am just getting out of it. Try foods that are high in protein. Baked chicken, shrimp, fish ect. Also fills help! :scared2:

  9. biggest loser cardio dvd as well. It kicks my butt i would like to be doing 5 days a week :)

  10. Dont beat yourself up just get moving!!! God knows i slack it sometimes but then im also unhappy with my weight loss for the week :P

  12. I'm great! Down 40 pounds in 3.5 months!!! So im just pluggin along and learning that i need to follow the Docs order to the tee! Once i tried something i wasnt suppose too...not good :P Bread=bad for me :)

  15. I'm glad to hear that you plan on keeping up your weight loss even if you have to have the band removed. I wish you the best!!! :) keep in touch

  16. I would try and stick it out. Are you taking vitamins? if so make sure you eat before taking them. I'm sorry to hear you don't feel good most of the time. Have you talked to your surgeon about it?

  18. hey Vanity :) It is going good. Thanks for asking :) I'm down 30 pounds now and my surgery was on aug 6th. I've worked out 12 days in a row now!!! Trying to do it everyday. Im only doing a 15 minute "biggest loser" dvd. But it kicks butt! Once im used to it i will increase it to 25 minutes and so on. What's up with you?

  19. I've fallen off the wagon more than once. I'm not saying it is a good thing!! But it happens. Just pick yourself up and do extra cardio this week to balance it out One thing that helps me stay accountable for what i put in my mouth :smile: Is a food journal. Try it for a week. Just write everything you eat and drink. It helps with good decision making as well as good portions!
