The Band is not working for my daughter???
me again, I just looked at her pics...to see how old she is. She is beautiful, you must be so proud. hmm...remember too that she is taller than you and she has ...um, bigger um, boobs so she would be heavier than you even in the same size jeans. Ugh, this probably sounds so awful and I truly didn't intend it that way, I just wanted to point out to you that she is just fine, you are just fine, and you should not be concerned.

The Band is not working for my daughter???
I'd say leave her alone. She is old enough to do this on her own. 22 lbs is good. Okay I don't mean this in a mean way, but I am curious..why would you compete with your own daughter? If my mom kept asking me (that is what you said in another post) I'd never answer her. She prob feels bad that she is heavier than you and now you are telling her you are losing more weight than she has. 22 lbs is 4.4 lbs per month...that is right within the 1-2 lbs per week quota for the band. Crap I know this sounds mean, and I truly don't mean to be...but...leave her alone. Concentrate on yourself....who is doing awesome by the way!!! You are averaging 11.2 lbs per month...that puts you on the higher end of the same quota at 2.8 lbs per month. Hey all in all she is averaging about only 1 lb less per week than you...so there you go, good news for her after all! Whoops you were banded in December? okay doing the math again. you are losing an average of 7.37 per month which is 1.8 lbs per week...she is only a smidge behind you. Don't worry she will be just fine.

SOTC thread...Why NOT to post when your angry
I am a firm believer of to each his own. I hope I didn't offend any Catholics with my Mom's story...that was not what it was supposed to be...just me saying I thought it was odd. And again I think Father Michael is da bomb! lol...should I tell him that if I ever run into him again? Oh did I tell you I saw Mary's drape/scarf that she supposidly wore when she gave birth to Jesus??!! It's encased in glass in a church in Rome...drats can't remember the name. Even though I am agnostic, it was still totally cool to see!!!! I wish we had old old churches here in the US like they have in Europe. Hmmm ..It just dawned on me that I was more of a believer in Europe than here. I am gonna have to think about that more.

SOTC thread...Why NOT to post when your angry
I don't think that was an attack, its just factual information on some policies of The Catholic Church. My mom is catholic, she has told me the same thing. Her own church would not let her get married not because my father had been prev married, it was because his first wife was prev married.....how messed up is that. My mom couldn't get married in her church beccause it was "her fault" that my protestant dad married a divorced woman??!! Please! I don't knock the catholic denomination, my uncle died and the methodist reverend wouldn't give him last rites because he was not an "active" member...hmmm no, he had cancer and was ill, couldn't attend. It was a catholic priest who gave his funeral services....what an honorable man, Father Michael, I will never forget him! I hope he is truly blessed in his life for such a random act of kindness. Even though I am agnostic, I believe blessings are important. So there is good and bad (yin and yang) in everything.

When did you tell your children?
Hey Karen, I am getting banded the day before you. (I have been looking for others who are close to me in banding-you are the first) I told my 9 yr old daugher right away (back in April when I first started the process) She is happy for me. I even sat with her and we watched the surgery together online so she would better understand it. I have an 18 yr old daughter and a 17 yr old son, and I have learned never underestimate the knowledge and understanding of a 9 yr old. LOL she won't let me anyway! I feel I need her support and understanding just like I do of the others. Prob more so, because I am with her more. I understand you not wanting her to worry, since Rachel saw the procedure...she is cool with it. Kids are more afraid of the secrecy than they are of the truth. If you decide to tell her earlier rather than later, and you see her worrying.....just tell her about all the cool things you will be able to do with her that you don't do now. For me its I'll be taking her to the beach all the time next year...riding bikes is gonna be more fun! Oh you know, you could start by asking her what she thought if you were thinner, then go to what would she think if you had surgery to get thinner...start small. Mine I can jump right into because she has older sibs so she is a tough cookie. Good Luck and let us know if you told her earlier or later and how she took it.

I totally agree. And (ooops) I forgot to say that too that "you" was not pointed in any direction...it was just my way of not sounding preachy or self-important. :huggie:

Big Disappointment!
Hi, sorry to hear your news! But don't give up that easily...They cover life threatening surgery but not a "belt" for your stomach.....um no, that makes no sense....fight it---appeal it! Give them all the info you can get about lap band vs. GP and send it to them along with your appeal letter. Do you have any co-morbities??? If you do, use them to your advantage!! My sis had GP but for her I considered it life threatening not to have it. Its totally not for me. I read that GP costs $40,000 and lap banding is $28,000 (well here in NJ anyway) ask your insurance if they pay for all the medical problems that come from being overweight!! You can totally do this!!! GO GET 'EM!!!!!! Keep your chin up and keep at them until you get your way!!!

Getting Excited
I got my official approval today from Insurance. I knew I was approved but nothing says "Yay" like seeing it in writing! 28 days and counting!! I am getting so excited. Hubby asked how I am gonna do surgery and school...I got it covered...sis is gonna drive me to school the monday after surgery. I know that seems soon. And anyone who reads this and has been banded is probably thinking "is she kidding?" LOL I have had three c-sections...and two days after back surgery I was shoveling the driveway (which I know doesn't compare...just putting it out there on how well I heal) I will be able to manage this just fine. I bought slimfast already..it is not required before surgery to lose weight, but I want to do this right, so I thought I'd start conditioning myself now...lol. Got my sneakers out and my pedometer all ready to roll...lol :clap2:
