Hello Friends, I'm sorry that I haven't checked in with you for a few days. I have been on an emotional rollercoaster. I have had to cancel my sleeve surgery on the 15th. :svengo: My mother is to have by-pass surgery on the 16th. She has numerous health issues and I need to be with her. I'm worried about her. On the other hand I feel guilty because I'm disappointed for having to cancel my surgery. I feel so selfish. I know that I can get it done at a later date. I will have to wait until end of Oct. or Christmas break before I can get time off work. Please tell me to just shut-up and get over it. LOL I only have one Moma and I need to take care of her first. I just talked to Nina at Dr Aceves office and she said that a birth cert. and Picture ID with DR Aceves patients is still fine for this month. She said she would have to find out for the month of August though. Phew!!! The post office is trying to Expedite it but doubts we get it back in time. Thanks, Judy

We went to the post office today and applied for a passport. I was told that we would not get it back in time to leave for Mexico. I told them that we could show our reciept and birth certificate and they all laughed like we were idots. They said the law changed on June 1st and you had to have the the passport in hand. Now I don't know what to do. Change surgery date from the 15th or what. I need to pay for my plane tickets within 2 hours. Has anyone just shown birth certificate and reciept since June 1st. Did you have any trouble? Thanks, Judy

Welcome, Penny I am having surgery on the 15th with Dr. Aceves. You can call or e-mail them and they will e-mail you all the info. and the available dates. I contacted them 3 days ago and I already have a date. Judy

Thank You everyone. The support here is amazing. I feel like we have all bonded together and are helping each other reach for a new and better life. Being fat is not life. It is an everyday struggle to get through to the next day. Worrying about what other people are saying or thinking about you. Having to stand back and not be included in everyday activies because you are to big to join in. Too tired or embarrased to go anywhere. Suffering with all the aches and pains of carrying an extra person around. Being depressed about the size clothes we have to shop for. And most of all wondering what we are going to eat next. I am so ready to break the cycle. I am very determined to use the sleeve as my favorite new tool to get a life. Hugs, Judy

I finally got things worked out for July 15th with Dr Aceves. My hubby and I will arrive on Tues. the 14th for testing and instructions. Will anyone else be there at that time? I am so excited and nervous. This is the first time I have ever booked a flight. I checked everywhere for the lowest rates. It is going to cost us a fortune for the tickets. $1,100, can you believe that? Oh well, we are still going. My husband is being very supportive except for thinking that I will let him starve. LOL I do all the cooking. I've got to go to the post office tomorrow and apply for the passports and go to the bank. Can you tell that I'm excited? Just wanted to share my news. I've already started the pre-op diet and lost 6lbs. If anyone has any tips for me I'm all ears. Question: Does the Dr. make all the cuts above your belly button? I have a scar from my belly button down from a hysterectomy?(sp.) I hope that wont make any difference. Hugs, Judy P.s. Nina told me 2 sisters were having surgery the same day as me.

Give yourself a big pat on the back. You are on your way to a new you. Congrats on your achievement in loosing weight. I know that you were struggling for a few days but, you got through it and now you are on your way to a better and healthier life. (Maybe a little romance too.) Keep us updated on your progress. If I have my sleeve done by Dr, Aceves on the 14h, should I book my flight back on the 18th or 19th? How many nights will I be in the hospital? Thanks, Judy

I plan to go to the post office early Monday morning. I think I read on another post that I can use a paper showing that I applied for the passport. I hope that is correct. I am suppose to be getting an e-mail telling me what dates are available. Thanks, Judy

Edie, I am so put out with both the insurance company and the surgeon's office that I have decided to go to Mexico. I wish I would have know sooner about all this. I could have already had the sleeve and been back home recovering. I have to go back to work as soon as school starts and there is no telling how much longer I would have to wait for surgery if I get it here. I don't have a flex account so I don't know about that. Maybe someone else will know. I don't plan to tell anyone about the sleeve. Maybe my daughters after it's done. If I have a medical problem I will go to my family doc. but, I don't plan to have a problem. LOL This trip will be like a major big vacation for me. I have never been anywhere. I think I will get the best deal all around by going to Mexico. Surgery by the best surgeon and a vacation to go with it. And most of all, peace of mind. Hugs, Judy Good luck to you too.

Thanks, I contacted them today. They are going to e-mail me available dates today or tomorrow. I'm trying to talk my friend into going and getting the sleeve too. She has signed up with the same surgeon here to get the band. I think I have her about convienced to get the sleeve instead. I will keep you posted. Judy

Thank you Wasa for that info.. After all the stress over the insurance company and lack of communication from Surgeons office I'm 90% sure I am not going to give them anymore of my time. I'm sure I don't want to get into any fraud issues. I have contacted Dr. Aceves office and am waiting to hear back from them. I feel like that is the right thing to do. Thank you for all your help. Thank you Norma for your input on this. You are so right about this being our own body and having the right to choose what we want done to it. I have my heart set on the sleeve and I'm going to stick to my decision. I know that it will work out. I hope that things will work out for you too.
