  1. My Surgery is December 7th. I am coming around the bend on this last week of liquids. Man, 3 weeks of this stuff is very trying BUT I have come down 19 pounds as of today. Can't wait until monday.
  2. Yes, i was a lil confused too. Was almost jealous LOL
  3. hummm LOL i may be out of breath too but I don't think I pay it any attention. I hope it gets better for you sweetie.
  4. Ok, so I am worried. I have had sinus and chest congestion for about 2 weeks now. It seems like since starting the liquid diet it has gotten worse so I am going to the doctor tomorrow. My concern is them giving me antibiotics. My surgery is 2 weeks from Monday and i was told all meds has to stop but my Blood Pressure pills and Birth control. Has anyone else been through this? Should I be concerned? I plan to call my doctor on monday but I need something to calm my nerves.
  5. Like everyone has said, the band is a tool. Just like the equipment in a gym are tools. If having the band is cheating then everyone that goes to the gym and use the equipment are cheating. Instead of using the machines, they should go outside and walk or run and use their body weight for weight training. The band was created to help lose weight just as the equipment was intended to do. However, when you tell a trainer or a gym freak this they say NO THAT IS DIFFERENT. How it is different, they can't tell me. The most important thing is you are not living for you sister so don't let your stand in the way of your success. Keep up the good work girl!!!
  6. Even at 290 pounds, I have never had an issue with my sex drive. My main concern is how long I have to weight after surgery to have sex. And is there certain things that can't be done do to having the band. I don't want any complications due to hanky panky:unsure:
  7. Yes, that is my diet. Each doctor is different. There are 5 doctors at my hosptial and we all had different diets when we were in the Nutritional class. Mine is more strict . The other diets allowed healthy choice meals under 350 calories. I can only have 4oz of lean thin sliced turkey meat IF my hunger is unbearable:blink:. But my surgeon has had much success with this diet so he requires it. And I cant complain, as of Day six I have lost 11 pounds.
  8. I am on Day 4 of my liquid diet. It consists of 3 protien Soups, 3 servings of skim milk, 2 protien bars and 1 lite yogurt. My doctor requires a 3 week liquid diet with a product called Nutrimed. I had the choice of 4 shakes or 2 soups. I chose the creamy chicken Soup which I have just come to digest. But my cravings are off the chain at this point. However, I know I can't ruin this for myself especially since i have already lost 9 pounds in 3 days. Also, the nutritionist said if time get really rough and hunger is taking over that I can have 4 oz of a lean thinly cut lunch meat like turkey.:scared2: Check out my blog if you want to follow my journey.
  9. My Surgery is Dec. 7th too!!!!! I love these items as well. I really hope I can tolerate at least the Lobster.
  10. Ok, so I was approached by my doctor to be apart of a study for the pre op diet. This study is to test a new supplement that takes place of the Vitamins and minerals that are required post surgery. I want to way how this will benefit me. What vitamins and minerals are you guys required to take and how much is it monthly to maintain? I am not sure if i want to the the test subject for a new product.
  11. Yes Ma'am. You cant go to Jamaica on liquids or mushies!!!! Also, I needed my mother with me and December was a better time. So it all worked out. WOO HOO STILL SMILING:biggrin:
  12. So sorry you are having issues. I feel like I am one of the lucky ones. It only took a month for my process from the initial consultation to the surgery date. I didn't have to do a 6 month diet. I say keep the faith though, everything will fall in place and you will be happy you followed through.
  13. Today I recived my surgery date and can't stop smiling. As for the paper work submitted, it consisted of my psych evaluation and medical records. I also believe the surgeons office completed a form. As for the signature block, go to the user cp and click edit signature block. The weightloss ticker is another website which you can click on my block. You just copy the bb code in to the text box.
  14. I have been approved and given a date. I am so excited I cant even do any work. I am sure if i wasn't going to Jamaica in November, the surgery would have been then. But I am HAPPY!!!
  15. Well I guess it wasnt  The Engine that know she can!!
  16. Hey everyone, I just started my blog this week. It is in my signature block.
  17. I just got the call. I AM APPROVED!!! Now i am waiting on my surgery date. This is going pretty well if i may say so myself
  18. Hello, LBT I have finally submitted my documents to my insurance company. So the wait begins. I have been on this site for awhile and have read many many posts. I would like to thank you all for your honesty and success stories. I have started a blog and would love for you guys to join me on my journey. Thanks again and I promise to be more verbal from here on out. http://iknowicanwithband.blogspot.com/
  19. I cant wait until my paperwork can be submitted. Congrats on your surgery date!!!!
  20. I have Federal BCBS and so far haven't had any issues. I am not required to do a 6 month diet and I only need to have an approved psych eval and a bmi over 40. But I do have one question, who is responsible for being sure all the paper work is submitted? I have scheduled the appts and today my PCP said she will write the letter today and send my records. Should I call to follow up and be a pest?
  21. I have just started my process and have alot of appt dates scheduled. My supervisor at work wanted to know if everything was ok and I just informed her that it was personal. You really don't have to tell people your business. Even when I recieve my surgery date the answer will still remain personal. If after the surgery they question how I eat, I will say that this is what I feel like eating. Just like Sluggo, I can be a bit of a smart ass so they wont ask me too many times after. Only my family and my best friend know about my surgery and I feel it is my right to keep my business mines.
  22. Thanks for the response but it looks as if I will be waiting until after my trip.
  23. Well, that decision may not happen because my mother isn't able to be here with me in October. I can't go through this without her but I want to get the show on the road. A two month waiting time seem so long. Normally, when would a surgeon suggest you have a surgery date?
  24. I am new to the site and have my initial consulation on 9/11/09. I am going to Jamaica on November 12 and is debating the actual date for my surgery. One part of me wants to get it done as soon as my insurance approves it and the other is thinking of what retrictions I may have when in Jamaica. If done right, i would be on solid foods by the time of my trip. And since I dont drink, the ability to not drink as much is not an issue. If you have had experience in traveling out of the country with lap band, did it ruin your experience?
