  1. Ok! I have GOT to get this Water thing figured out! I think I drank about 20 oz today and that just is NOT good! I don't know what my problem is! It's like I forget to drink when I am allowed to. I want to drink when I can't... and I don't but this is driving me crazy!!! Very frustrated with myself! And today was the first day I have actually snacked. Today was really the first day I wanted food. I am making it sound worse than it was. They had a meeting today and served pita chips and hummus. I have never had hummus so I wanted to try it. I had a pita chip the size of a quarter and some hummus on it. (yum, btw!) Then I came home and had a bite of chicken salad. So it was literally 2 bites of food I should not have had so the world isn't going to collapse but still... LOL So I am thinking of doing a food log thingie thread on here. Kind of like the one on the food thread. I would like to see what my fellow 'july' peeps are eating.
  2. Hi everyone! I lost 1.4 lbs this week. I have 3.1 lbs to make my goal. Not sure if I will make it, but I will try! 3. Is everyone pretty much back on regular food now? I was given 'permission' for regular food at 1 month post op. I can basically eat anything now. But I haven't. I am scared to try some things. I haven't had a salad yet. Or any raw vegetable for that matter. I am still sticking to stuff I know I can eat. Most days lunch is about a quarter cup chicken salad and a couple bites of fruit. I am enjoying all the food I am eating, I am not bored with it. But I feel like I am still too chicken to try some new things. I did make a meatloaf the other night and it was SO GOOD! I made sure it was super moist and I ate about a half thin slice. And I did have an old nutrisystem entree (lasagna with meat sauce) and it went down fine. That was my favorite dinner so I saved a few! I only ate a quarter of it. I served myself half and then couldn't eat it all. That is about the most adventurous I have been. How about everyone else??? Are you all much braver than I am?
  4. Hi everyone! I am so sorry you are going through this. Hang in there! I am trying to look at this time with our bands as 'practice'. Really taking small bites, chewing super good etc. Good luck everyone! We can do this!
  5. Hi everyone! I forgot to post here yesterday. I lost another 1.8 lbs. At this rate, I am not sure I will make my labor day goal, but I will be close! 6. So how are we going to do this? We could have a separate thread for each challenge. Water challenge thread and exercise challenge thread. Then will everyone post daily their totals or just set a goal or what? What are your thoughts? I agree.. those two (water and exercise) are definately the hardest for me!
  7. See, this is why I have resisted thus far. I don't want to feel like that either. Although, I would like a record so if I am not doing so well, I can look back on what I ate when I was doing well. I totally get where you are coming from on this.
  8. Thanks for all the responses on this. I think I have decided I should journal in some fashion. The question is how. I have the realize band and was using their site but frankly, it is a bit of a pain. The food listing doesn't seem very comprehensive. Fitday is better for that. But, I like Realize My Success because it has a place for Water and my Vitamin. I am thinking a more comprehensive database would prove more useful. Oh and I also don't entirely like the fact my surgeon's office and look up my food intake. Makes me feel like I can't be honest. Why that is, I have no idea! still undecided!
  9. Down 1.6 lbs this week. Half of what I was losing but I knew that couldn't last forever. Funny part is, this is the week I started walking. Ahh well, it's a journey! NAME........SURGERY...START....CURRENT....TO GO Blaze21..........255.........176..........172.............8 Hdsantoni.......252.........187..........179.............7 Wyomingirl......376.........283..........280............12 Aivey.............270.........265..........251.............6 Enchanted......241.........187..........187............17 Raelita...........331.........310..........310............15 Doramae........305.........257.5........248...........5.5 Jennybeck......252..........228..........219............9 Bella..............242.........213..........210............11 Laurr925........285.........225..........215..............5 EmsMommy....252.........242...........242............15 Healthy-me....26...........215.........206.2.........6.3 syretta0728....200.........192...........190............ 8loosinit4good...327.........263...........263............16 FluffyJen.........220........183...........180.5............5.5 Zoom-Zoom.....218........206...........204............8 GlenSand.........252........185...........184............9
  10. I think if we do a challenge, it should be more on the mechanics of the band. Like an exercise challenge or a Water challenge. I think if we can get the mechanics down, then the weight loss kind of takes care of itself. Anyone else have thoughts on this? And where is everyone? We have lots of MIA's. Juniper comes to mind... there were lots of us!
  11. Perhaps when someone asks why you chose band over bypass you can just say, "I just felt it was the better choice for me personally" and leave it at that. Honestly, your reasons are your own and they have no right to demand that from you. Good luck!
  12. Hi! I was banded on 7/10. I have lost 32 lbs. I just had my 1 month post op and was given the go-ahead to add in pork, beef, raw veggies... basically everything. We skipped my first fill because I am losing steadily, eating about a half cup of food for my meal and not hungry between meals. It's funny though, no matter how well we do, we always wish we could lose just a few more. I think patience and persistence is the key here. Do what we are supposed to do and let the weight come off. It sounds so easy but that is the hardest part!
  13. Hi everyone! I had my 1 month appointment. I met with the nutritionist first. Basically, she lifted all food restrictions. I can now eat beef, pork, raw vegetables etc. We talked about pasta and carbs. Can I eat pasta? Yes. Is it a good choice? Not really. But if I chose to eat it, the wheat pasta or wheat blends would be better and not to make it the focus of my meal etc. We talked about bite size and chewing. Standard stuff. She was very happy with my loss so far. Then I saw the PA, Melissa. She will basically do all my follow up care. She asked all her questions... Am I getting my water? Exercise? Eating only 3 meals with no snacking? Drinking anything besides water (meaning caloric beverages)? So after all her questions she said 'What do you think?' And I told her I didn't think I needed a fill and she said 'because you don't'. She was extremely pleased with my weight loss and my body composition. So here is the skinny: Loss to date: 32 lbs Body fat % lost: 5.1% Only 1 lb difference in lean muscle mass so all my loss has been fat. She said it honestly couldn't be better. Then I saw my surgeon in the hallway and she hugged me and said I looked great. I got released to go back to work with no lifting restrictions. So all is well and I go back on Sunday the 16th! Great appointment! I think I can finally say I am thrilled to have done this! I wasn't unhappy before, but I wasn't happy either. Now I am!!!
  14. I am wondering how many of you are journaling your food. Why or why not? My program recommended it but didn't say I had to. I haven't been and I am wondering if I should. If you are keeping track are you doing it on the computer? On paper? Just curious!
  15. You can only find CarbMaster yogurt at Smith's because it is a Kroger brand. Kroger owns Smith's, King Sooper, Fred Meyer, Fry's, Ralph's (except in certain areas) Kroger's (obviously!) and just about a dozen others. I am not as familiar with the ones in the east. I live in Arizona and we have Fry's. Oh yeah, and I work there. :w00t: LOL It is actually pretty good yogurt... I am eating one now so I felt compelled to post!
  16. Hello everyone! I lost 3.2 lbs this week... with TOM! YAY! 17. Hi everyone! I haven't gone back to work yet so I haven't resumed my 'normal' routine. Anyway, my best friend who moved away a couple years ago is in town. We went to the movies. We saw The Hangover (hilarious, btw!!!). Then we went out to lunch. My first time eating out since surgery. We went to Applebee's. I had the tomato bisque Soup and a turkey club sandwich. I peeled the turkey and cheese off and rolled them up to eat. Then we went to Barnes and Noble and sat and read. I had half of a tall iced caramel macchiato. I should not have had that as my surgeon doesn't allow caffeine for the first month. But today is exactly four weeks so I hardly even jumped the gun on that. I only drank half so it was about 90 calories. I felt 'normal'. I want to be normal. I don't want to be the obese person who can't do things or not eat things because of her weight. Does that make sense?? It was such a nice day.
  18. I just realized I achieved a milestone with my weigh in today. According to my handy dandy BMI wheel I received in my Realize band kit, I am no longer 'morbidly obese'!!!! I am only 'obese'. Yay!!!
  19. I am soooooooo happy! I lost 4lbs this week! 20. My first appointment is 8/11. I see the nutritionist and then I see my PA for a possible fill. The swelling has gone down and I am still not hungry much. I am still eating maximum half cup of food at a time. I am going to try to hold off on that fill, I think. If I am losing without it, I would like to hold off. Now.. if I could just get myself into the exercise... <sigh>
  21. Hey Kyoto, Dr Blackstone did my surgery on the 10th! I haven't meant Dr Sprunger but I have seen him in the office!
  22. Is it too late to join??? I was just banded 3 weeks ago. I would like to get to ONEDERLAND! 23. hi everyone! I would love to hear how everyone is doing! What food stage are you in? How are you feeling physically? Emotionally? How much have you lost? How much are you exercising? Ok, I will start. I am exactly 3 weeks out. I am on regular food at this point with no raw veggies, no beef or pork. I am eating mostly turkey, fish. I am up to about a third of a cup of food at a time now. I just finished some hormel turkey chili with some cheese in it. It was absolutely delicious! I would think this would blenderize very well and make a yummy thick soup! mmmm... Physically, I feel ok. Tire out easily. We went back to school shopping for the kids last night and I am just tuckered out today! I still have my port incision that is giving me a little trouble. It just won't stay closed. It is like it creates a scab and then comes off. I did see my PA and she said it looked great. She put some steri-strips on it and said to leave it alone. So it is fine, just the thought of it bothers me. Emotionally, I go back and forth. Took the kids to see G-Force at the theater yesterday. It was a bit tough to sit there and just drink my Water. I felt a bit deprived. It passed. Sometimes I get really sad about possibly NEVER being able to have Pasta again. Not that I need it. I guess the thought is worse than anything. I hope it doesn't happen. I truly hope I am one of those bandsters who can eat bread and pasta (in moderation of course) someday. I don't mean bread and pasta, specifically, just anything. I hate the thought of NEVER. KWIM? I have lost a total of 26 lbs so far. 13 before band and 13 after band. I am not exercising. I should be. I am supposed to be. I live in Az, exercise outside it definately OUT and I can't find the key to my treadmill. I did find a few Leslie Sansone dvds (walk away the pounds) So I am going to start those. How is everyone else doing??? CHECK IN! :crying:
  24. I know a few people have said they take flintstone vitamins. My question is- those of you who do this, do you take one vitamin or 2??
  25. Buy cute shoes! Buy the ones I want and not settle for the ones that come in Wide sizes!!!! oooohhh I miss cute shoes and sandals!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait!
