Hi ladies, Not sure why I didn't post yesterday. For Monday: B: unjury shake with Peanut Butter L: carbmaster yogurt D: half meatball and zucchini ribbons dessert: quarter cup vanilla ice cream Had an appointment yesterday. She was happy with my weight loss. I lost 10 lbs in 4.5 weeks. I am not hungry between meals and I am still eating a small amount of food. So, no fill for me. She thought she was going to have to talk me into no fill but I stopped her during her speech and told her I don't feel like I need one yet. How I see it
Hi everyone, We are all basically about 2 months out or coming up on it. I think the 'honeymoon' phase is pretty much over at this point. Reality is setting in about what having a band really means. I think for all of us it is so different. Some of the things I have seen others struggle with, I haven't had and I think I am struggling with some things I haven't seen mentioned. For me, weight loss has always been more mental. I get in this 'magic zone' where my brain is in the right place and I do the things I need to do and BAM, 40 lbs slides off. Somehow I fall out of that zone and gain it all back. This has been my pattern over and over. The quickest adjustment for me has been portion size. My dr had me on real foods 4 days post op. My husband served me a quarter cup of something and it looked absolutely huge. A half cup of something still looks huge to me. My mind made that adjustment immediately. I don't know why. Fear, probably. LOL The other adjustment has been success. What I mean by that is, in my mind, failure is not going to happen. I WILL lose this weight. I WILL get down to my goal. When will it happen? That I don't know... but it WILL happen. I mean, I could lose weight before... just couldn't keep it going to get to goal. So now I have that tool that will keep it going. I have not been perfect. I have experimented with what I can eat. I have eaten Pasta and bread and cake and Cookies. I guess you can say I have sampled them. And that is ok with me. It's not going to stop me from getting to goal because this is a lifetime solution... not a quick fix. I have tried to take the emotion away from the scale. I weigh every day. I look at what it says and shrug my shoulder like, 'ok'. It is just a number. Now, I will admit to a moment of weakness on this. I have my 2 month appt on Monday with my PA. I have TOM this week so my scale hasn't moved. I thought, 'if I do shakes all weekend I bet I could lose a few lbs before Monday' NO! NO! NO! That is a DIET mentality and I REFUSE! It is, what it is on Monday and that's that!!! I think our perception is almost more important than anything else. I feel successful in this, so I am. Having said that, I still haven't started exercising yet. And I haven't had a single day yet where I got my full 64 oz of Water. <sigh> It's a work in progress! We can do this. We ARE doing this. How fast or slow, doesn't really matter. What matters is that we keep at it and don't give up!

July7th Bandsters....
Hi Bobbie! I am not a 7/7, but I was banded on 7/10. I have lost a total of 40 but 12 of that is pre-op. I have lost 28 lbs since 7/10. So, going by that, I think you are doing great! As far as staying the same for a few weeks, are you still walking? How about changing that up a little? Maybe walk with a few small hand weights or walk a little longer? Also, how about your eating? I find I am eating the same things. Try to change up what your eating. I don't think we can let our bodies settle in... I think we need to keep mixing it up. Good luck! You can do it! We can do this!

At what point did you start getting excited about your weight loss?
My surgery was on July 10th. I have lost 40 lbs. Basically I hit the weight I can get to on my own. It's funny you asked this question because my boss at work asked me if I was excited about the weight loss. I kind of shrugged my shoulders. She said, 'is it not fast enough for you?' It's not that. I don't want to get so excited I start to sabotage myself like I always do at this weight. Honestly, I think once I get past this weight and get down to a weight I previously haven't been able to get to on my own, I will be excited.

Happy Labor Day everyone! I had to work today so that should have kept me from eating. It didn't because I had to put out a luncheon for my co-workers. We served sub sandwiches, chips, dips, brownies, Cookies etc for 100 people. B: cherry carbmaster yogurt with a quarter of sliced banana L: half cup turkey chili with Beans with cheese and sour cream Nibbled on: about 15 potato chips (spread throughout day) and half a choc chip cookie D: the innards of 3 pork potstickers (from Trader Joe's) and a couple bites of the outtards, 2 slivers mandarin orange Part of me feels like I shouldn't have had the chips and half cookie but I really enjoyed it. And, after I got home TOM arrived. So that explains the lack of will power a bit. I refuse to feel guilt and will just move on. Water:  (was too busy eating chips) Exercise: marching my ass up and down the stairs checking on the food levels all damn day!!!!

Wow! Just rec'd the bill from the Hospital...
My total bill for the hospital came to $26,680. My insurance allowable was $12,200 so they had to write the difference off. I had to pay 10% of allowable so I paid $1,220. I still owe the anesthesiologist $118.00 (he hasn't billed me yet, I only know the amount from my insurance statement) And my insurance is duking it out with the psychologist. He is charging $900 for 2 written tests and 20 minutes of talk time. Problem is, he is charging the same code for the two tests so my insurance wants proof he isn't double billing. <sigh>
