11/18/10 Thanks for Sharing; A Blog of Substance

Hello Girlfriend and Triple HUGS and Kisses I was reading your blog and I can relate so well to all of it. I have stayed the same for 5 months now. I can remember being as tight as I ever wanted to be and that is so NOT a good place to be. I remember the unwanted weight plateaus, and how long they lasted. It just happens and I just had to deal with it. I can remember not owning a scale and having to wait until I went to the Dr.'s office to get weighed in. When I inherited a scale I started weighing myself morning, noon, and night. I was crazy. It made me crazy. Now I had to train myself only to step on it once a week. I also had to train myself to eat foods that would be helpful with my band. I found many foods left me hungry and some foods made me full for longer periods of time. I had to commit to eating foods that kept me full longer. I still have some cravings but they are more easy to deal with. I feel like I am a trained Dog!! LOL Yup imaluckydog Blogging is such an important part of the Training Program. I know I have done a better job of working with my band because of being able to read blogs and write them. We even blogged to each other the day I was banded. I will never forget your loving support and caring. I knew I had a friend I could share my thoughts with. I didn't even know at the time if my surgery would happen that day. I am so happy to say that you empowered me by saying it is was up to me to create my own destiny. I love playing with my band and I will always be a member of your band. Love you BandGroupie and Happy Thanksgiving. Best wishes, imaluckydog

    16 months Post-op

I wish you luck and just want to say you are going in the best direction. I loved reading your blog and I may suggest you get off the lean cuisine and the wt watcher foods (these are easy simple carbs), sounds like they do not keep you full anyway. They are not real foods. They are overly processed and simple. If you made your own foods with real (complex carbs) veggies and whole wheat pasta these foods will stay with you longer. Mind you, that you may not be able to eat that much but they are REAL foods. Our body needs real food to digest. I find I need to eat less but I stay fuller longer. Never drink with meals. Blogging is a great way to keep busy and out of the food. Choose to snack on carrots or celery sticks with a pinch of salt yup you are right get off the potato chips again a simple carb and will not stay with you. Eat colors and real, not too much mostly plants with proteins first. You will feel so much better. Best wishes on your journey. imaluckydog

    Is this Common?

Yes, it happened to me too. Chew slower and take smaller bites and if you start to get an acid taste get an unfill ASAP. You may need to eat less and not as much at one meal I had to break my meals into two. This is so the foods would stay down. You really do not want to be throwing up all the time. This is not how the band is suppose to work. I have had three un fills over a course of time. Nothing wrong with fine tuning the band. Best wishes and I hope this helps. You may be getting closer to your sweet spot. imaluckydog

  6. Hi, Have a Happy journey to you. I choose not to eat simple carbs and sugar is a simple carb. Breads and overly processed grain foods are also simple carbs. Not a bandsters friend. They tend to go right thru you and do not stay to help you feel full. Eat real foods, not too much mostly plants with proteins first. Slowly! I am in my journey 72 weeks way over a year and I am maintaining a 110 pound weight loss. I love to cook and make most of all my own food. I know what goes into it now. I am slowly becoming a food inspector LOL. My body feels so much better when I fuel it well. It has healed itself and I am so much better for this. Best wishes and enjoy you successes. imaluckydog

    Anxious and Frustrated

I ended up going four weeks early so anything can happen! Get everything done and be ready. I am sure glad I was when I got the call. We have a cancelation would you like the spot? Heck YES and I was called on a Friday and was banded on Monday. Yippeee for me. I am now down 110 pounds and have never been happier. Keep positive and get everything done that needs to be done. Best wishes imaluckydog

Day 1 of a new life.... Didn't go so smoothly

Days it took me 2 weeks before I felt great. Congrats on your new journey. Follow all bandster rules and take the time you need to heal remember you are healing from the inside out now. Go slow! I am now maintaining a 110 pound weight loss and I am skinny. I am a little over a year out. I never thought that would ever be skinny. I love my new energy level and zest for life. I was miserable at first but kept a positive outlook on everything. Best wishes imaluckydog Ps Keep blogging EVERYDAY. It helps so must to stay connected to others.

    when does weight loss start

I agree with all three before me. What great wisdom they all have!!! Do not get caught up in lost weight or when you will lose it. FOCUS on taking in all that Protein and healthy foods your body needs. NOT the fake and overly processed foods your body cannot use. EAT REAL FOODS. Your body needs to be able to work and digest these foods for energy. You have the exsercise down. I also keep in mind grams of protein everyday and the kinds of food I eat is Real, not too much, mostly plants, with proteins first. Never drink with a meal as it pushes the food thru faster and you do not stay satisfied as long. Band rules and be mindful and the weight will melt away. I only weighed in when I went in for a fill and that helps to just keep focus on what you are eating. This does take time. Be patient. Best wishes imaluckydog

    Help!

Mindful everything. You can do it!!! Sounds like you know what you want. Just use the band to help you get there. I visited my nutritionist regularly who works with the fill nurses. When I went in for a fill I also spoke with the people who know food. I have food addiction. Be honest with yourself and the LB people they are there to help you. Talk about what you are eating, do not be afraid the truth will get you to the results you want and wish for. It is not easy. I was banded June 29,2009 and I have been maintaining 110 pound loss. I can go up and down but when I remain MINDFUL and work with my band and (LB people) I am much more SUCCESSFUL. Best wishes being mindful. imaluckydog

just banded follow me on my journey

I was banded June 29, 2009 and I have over lost 110 pounds. I am so amazed at how well this band has worked with me. I fit in better now with the people I hang out with and work with. I always hated even dreaded having to buy clothes for a body that weighed in at over 250 pounds nothing looks or feels good on. I now have to be good as I spend all my money on clothes now. I am a size 10/12 and like to wear my clothes roomy. I think it is because my clothes were always so tight on me before. I have maintained my loss now for many months and I still need to look at myself twice when I walk by a mirror. I really do like what I see. I also feel great. No more pills, no pains in legs or knees, no more sleep apnea, no headaches. I am living the LB high life. Best wishes to all. imaluckydog

  15. Hi, Thanks for sharing about your surgery. Glad to hear all went well. I went to my Dr. to find out if I am a breast and Tummy candidate and sure enough I am. I wanted to know just how much have you lost and how long you waited before you had it done? I will probably wait until the summer to do it as I have some time off then. I am really nervous about it. Does everyone have tubes and drains? I have lost 110 pounds and I am short and sag everywhere. Breast are way to big. I feel I will be able to breath better. I just do not know if I am ready for another surgery. How did you decide? Look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes imaluckydog Kathy

    It's a false alarm - I'm just fine!

Best wishes and glad to hear the good news. I have had a few little situations and it can be very worrisome. Oh happy day. Best wishes imaluckydog
  17. Hi, I am so glad we are friends. I have not told anyone about my bad so I only get to talk about it with my friends on this site. Only my husband knows. Well with all my un fills. I would stress myself out and not be able to eat anything as my band would tighten on it's own. I would get upset stomach and all was not pleasant. I found after a fill it took about 3 to 4 days before I felt the full effect of the added fluid. Go slow and remember to chew to beat the band.

I try to make better choices these days and try hard not to eat too much. I eat so much slower and it helps. I practice only to eat 1/4 to 1/2 of what is on my plate when I eat out and I am amazed at how little food I really need. Being satisfied is my biggest issue at the moment. I think I suffer from head hunger.

I hope this fill is what you need. I must drive about an hour one way to my hospital. I am at my set point now, I will stay here for a good long while. Have a great night. Best wishes imaluckydog

  18. It took me a year before I made my choice to have my LB done. I should have not waited. I am HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY did I say Happy? With my weight lose with my LB. It is a tool that I can work with. I was banded June 29, 2009, I am now over a year and have maintained 110 pounds of weight loss. I wear a size 10/12 and people call me skinny. I feel great and have had an amazing journey. Best thing I ever did for myself. Best wishes on your journey. imaluckydog

To mask or not to mask!

You will feel 16 again. I do!! My daughter is 20 and she gave me her size 8 rain coat and it fit OMG. I am a size 10/12 in most things. Well, I could not button it completely but I could get away and wear it, not buttoned for sure. My daughter is so proud of me and I feel like a new person. No more pain meds or any meds except for a daily vitamin and calcium. Your journey will be what you choose to make it. You will follow the rules and visit your Dr. and take care of yourself. I had a BMI of 40 when I started my journey and I was so unhappy. I would do this again if I had too. I have lost 110 pounds and it has NOT come back. I have kept same weight for about 4 months. I love how I feel today. Take one day as it comes and keep healthy. I had a little cold the day of my surgery and I had no problem. Best wishes on your journey sounds like your journeys has had a jump start imaluckydog

cooking for the family post op....

Yes this is called mindless eating! Yah you are becoming more MINDFUL about what you are eating. This will help because the band will also remind you. Sometimes it is not so pleasant these band reminders. Go easy. Best wishes on your journey. imaluckydog

    It's a journey

Wow you are both doing so well. Congrats! I am a little over a year from my surgery and I find chicken a challenge. I can eat almost anything I want but I still need to chew chew chew to get by the band. Or to beat the band LOL.. I have had to have 3 un-fill and two barium swallows yuk. Be safe and go easy. Plan tiny meals if you are hungry. I am as happy as a clam now and I am down from over 250 to 147 this morning. It is hard working with the band but it is so much easier to stop eating with its' help. My mind is starting to adapted to this new way of life. Enjoy the journey. Best wishes imaluckydog
