  1. Yes you should stop TTC at this time. I know for me stopping was a hard decision to make but it was the best. I lost 156 pounds and all my fertility labs were finally normal and I got pregnant in the 4th cycle of ttc. My daughter is 12 days old today. It was worth the wait, you'll see. Good luck
  2. I went through multiple cycles of IVF and none were successful. I was banded may 09 and was down to 152 pounds when we decided to start trying. My ob gave me the all clear and all my fertility labs were now normal. I had been on thyroid meds since 06. It took me 4 months of trying. I had to have my thyroid checked monthly while pregnant and saw a high risk doctor the whole time as well (which was great because I go a sono every month, and every week starting at 34 weeks)
  3. I do and my daughter is 10 days old.
  4. I just had my daughter 5 days ago and I can tell you the pain at the port site got worse as I got closer to due. It did however go away right after delivery. I had to make sure I slept with an extra pillow under my port or just stay off my left side. Good luck
  5. Angie congrats on your IVF cycle. My husband and I did 3 cycles prior to my band, all we're a fail for us. After being banded for over 2 years I got pregnant. My daughter, Isabella, is 5 days old. She was born May 29 and prefect. I had a great pregnancy and my only complaint is that as I got to those last 6 weeks my port hurt tremendously. Soon as I gave birth the pain was gone!! I was a freak about my weight gain (35 pounds) but I've already lost 20 and planning a fill for 6 weeks. Just take it one day at a time and enjoy the experience!! Can't wait to hear your betas!!
  6. Light I hope you are back on track soon!! I am breastfeeding and surprisingly I am already down 20 pounds. I am planning on a fill at about 6 weeks. I am taking it easy right now and not worrying to much about what I eat, I don't eat horribly anyways, but not depriving myself of anything either.
  7. I am so sorry for your loss, many thoughts and prayers for you.
  8. I am currently 38+ weeks and so ready to have this baby. Yet I am extremely ready to lose this weight. I've gained 35 pounds and I am miserably fat! This has been a mentally exhausting 38 weeks. It's hard to talk to my husband or mom about it because they have not ever gone through banding before. Hope all is well with everyone.
  9. I agree my symptoms were not different with being banded just had to have a partial unfill due to nausea. Good luck
  10. I am a medical professional and I am honestly perturbed by other medical professionals blaming things on the band. There is no way that the band could alter your labs for downs. For the medical "professional" to say that was immature, unprofessional, and causing undue stress. Most low numbers for downs are usually human error when the venipuncture was done or the lab test itself was run.
  11. My numbers came back at 1:9500 for downs and I've been banded since May 2009 so I doubt that information
  12. I had 3cc removed at 12 weeks and I've had no nausea since. I eat whatever I want and am not following any of the band rules. My dietician said not to worry about food while pregnant, it was very hard in the beginning as I was obsessed but now I eat when hungry and if I am craving something I eat it. I was under 150 when I got pregnant and although it's hard to see my weight go up I know it's all for the greater good. I'm more concerned with the tales I've heard about never losing again or never finding that sweet spot again.
  13. I am currently 28 weeks pregnant and have gained 28 pounds. I had to have my band loosened due to severe nausea. I have heard that you will never find your sweet spot again and you won't lose like you did before. Anyone know if this is true and has anyone lost it all and been back to goal after having a baby? Thanks

  15. Hi everyone! I have not posted on the Friday weigh in but I am going to start. I had my lap band on May 11, 2009 and I had my third fill on Thursday August 20, 2009 with a total of 4cc's. I weighed 210 on Friday and I am pretty restricted at this point so hoping this is my sweet spot!! LB 05/11/09 Starting weight 258# Total of 4 cc's in 11cc band
  16. I also have a port that sticks out and hurts. It has been almost 3 months and I am going to have it checked out on Tuesday.
  17. I got my second fill this morning! I have a total of 5cc's in and I am so happy!! I have lost 41 pounds to date and I can't wait to reach my first goal of 200 in the next month or two!!
  18. I have my second fill tomorrow and I am so stinking excited. I have lost over 40 pounds and I am ready to lose some more!! How is everyone doing? Who is up for their 2nd fill??
  19. John- your second fill is only going to be 2 weeks after your first?? I am so jealous. My second fill is not until 7-7 which is nearly a month after my first. I am staying really full so far and that si good but I am ready to find that sweet spot everyone talks about!!
  20. So my appt went well. I lost 3# in 3 weeks and they put 3 cc's in my band. My bariatric nurse had said it would be 4-5 but I am totally happy with 3. They used lidocaine which I was SOOOO thankful for and she had to poke around a bit but finally got it. I sipped my glass of water and was free to go. Liquids for 24 hours then a soft diet for dinner tomorrow!! I am so excited and ready to start losing more weight!!! How is everyone else doing since their fill?
  21. I go in today for my appt and I am praying I will get a fill. I am so hungry and according to my scale no weight loss. I will post as soon as I get home!! Off to work out...Have a great day all!!
  22. I live in Odessa, Texas and I was recently banded by Dr. Davenport. I love his team and they are so awesome. I work at Medical Center Hospital and my insurance covered all of my surgery but I had heard thet they will let you pay them out over the span of year and you can then have the surgery as soon as it is all paid.
  23. My first fill was suppose to be June 16th but my appt had to be changed due to my work being a PIA. So now I am on for June 9th and I am not sure he will fill me so soon. My bariatric nurse said my first fill will be 4-5ccs and I am so excited!! But also reserved that he may not fill me so early, I was only banded on May 11th so holding my breath until then!!
  24. I have never been told nor can I find it in my owner's manual. After banding but before first fill how much should I be eating? I eat till I am full but I am worried about stretching my stomach out. Can anyone answer this for me? Thank you Found my answer!! Thank you!
