  1. Just you wait Pam, as soon as I got my license I did (almost) all the grocery shopping and cooking for my family. Put that boy to work! Nicole-Congrats on the apartment, and the committing thing. Perhaps this move will be just what you need to focus on building a stronger marriage. And that place sounds awesome! Christine- Now you can tell Candra how Dr. Fisher's fills are. April- I'm so sorry about your accident! I hope your back/neck don't give you trouble too long. I love our group... We're all in different places in our lives, and we even have a band baby on the way! Now we can learn through Christine! Tina- My supervisor asked our Lt. about the furloughs today. We don't have an answer yet but he's looking into it. I have a feeling we'll be furloughed. "most of the Sheriff's Dept" that you mentioned, is probably everyone non-sworn. Riley- They're probably counting that your 3% raise is because you'll be doing the work of other people, and it'll still save $ by laying others off. Foregoing the raise probably won't be enough to save those jobs.
  2. Congrats Christine!!! Tina, I still haven't heard anything! We don't have the same email as the rest of the county, so it may be that someone will have to send it out dept wide. You're my informant!
  3. It may help though... when we were going to lay off 230 deputies, the Sheriff took it straight to the media. He was on the radio and the news talking about how bad it will get. "We will not investigate property crime" (at all) People got pissed (righfully so) and we got $10 million restored to our budget. Unfortunately it came from Tina's dept. And the $10 million saved some jobs, but there were still around $200 laid off and countless others demoted and all that. So maybe people will get angry about CPS and find a solution to the problem, not just robbing peter to pay paul.
  4. So Tina, I did some searching on the county's intranet site and found the memo that talks about furloughs (16 hrs per month). What bugs me is there wasn't even an email! I went looking for it! I don't know how this "no-CPS" thing is going to work. I can't believe 10 years isn't enough time to keep you on. Ugh. I had my new class tonight. It's so much better than the other one, I can't even compare them. This one is a blended format so it's 1/2 the time in the classroom and 1/2 the time online during the week. So much better than 4 hours in class at night (after a 9 hour shift at work). So, I like this class and even though the first paper is due in a week I'm not stressing. I'll be in Petaluma on Saturday. I'm going to stay in the area Sat. night. I have friends in the area and we're going to visit. I'm excited for our weekend! Nicole, I'm totally on your side about the floorplan. No one wants to be sharing a bathroom with a 2 year old. I won't live somewhere without 2 bathrooms now, total requirement. Did you guys look at the apts off Mather & 50? You could be really close to Reggie and Mike is right off the freeway.
  5. And I just did some total mindless eating while making lunches for tomorrow. What for? Ugh. I just need to go to bed!
  6. No talk of furloughs with my union. Thats where it gets wierd. I know a lot of us would rather take furloughs than see so may layoffs but because they'd be voluntary furloughs, they can't be counted on, thus not a fiscal savings. Somehow I knew that money came from your budget... it's so frusterating. Sheriff's Dept, Probation & CPS are vital to the safety of the county. Maybe I'm biased, but it seems like those 3 depts have taken huge hits. It's like we're being asked to do impossible tasks, you have to do the work of 10 social workers, we still had to cut over 200 deputies and the state wants to release felons! We're not prepared for that! Probation can't handle it, what are they thinking?
  7. You're so close to surgery you can see the light! We're forced to stick with it! Ok, wierd thing today. I've been wanting to pig out all day. Total head hunger. I didn't do anything but I was wanting to just eat junk. I don't know if it's one of those last supper feelings or what, but I wanted to get a full calorie coffee drink, cookie dough, enchiladas... all sorts of stuff. I don't really know what that's about, but I'll drink my orange vitamin water 10 until it passes.
  8. I just did 20 minutes on the bike and the Turbo Jam 20 minute workout (ok, not all of it) and I'm wiped out! I'm dripping sweat. Thanks for the reminder Tamra! This is an awesome workout!
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSiCYpjcqKs That's an informertial for it. Apparently we can't post embeded videos. Who all is going to Petaluma this weekend?
  10. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSiCYpjcqKs&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSiCYpjcqKs&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Turbo Jam is a video workout, I haven't been able to find it anywhere but online/tv. It's good times!
  11. Oh no Tina! We're going to miss you like crazy! I can't believe you're at risk, haven't you been with CPS for like 8 years or something?
  12. I'm 25 and am still waiting to get to my surgery goal weight. I have a pretty strict surgeon. He wanted me to lose 84 lbs pre-op. I haven't heard of anyone else like this! I'm doing good so far, I expect to have surgery in Dec or Jan. Mia & Army Wife, congrats on your upcoming surgery dates!
  13. I love my turbo jam! But I don't do it that often, which is wierd. I usually do the bike or the elliptical at the gym. And I love my Wii Active. I should whip out the Turbo Jam again.
  14. Lol. At least you told the group! You didn't just eat all that in shame. I'm finding I have to remind myself that every calorie counts. Like somehow if I eat some shreaded cheese before I put it on my eggs, it doesn't count. Logical right? Just keep at it, don't get discouraged! Do some extra cardio tonight to make up for it.
  15. What kind of exercising are you doing? It helps to change up your exercise too! Your body gets used to doing a certain thing a certain way and sometimes you need to wake it up!
  16. Not 1999! Although I was smaller in 99 than I am now I still wasn't that small! Anyone on chat tonight?
  17. Here's the picture from today!
  18. Tina, I love these clothes! Seriously! I've been trying them all on. I love this! Everything is super-cute and I can wear so much of it to work. I even put on the gray pants I got (I don't think they were from you, could be though) and they were a 20! I can't wear them to work all day, but if someone said "I dare you to wear those size 20 pants" I'd so be able to do it. They zip and everything. I can't wait to be able to wear them all day! I found some Vitamin Water 10 at costco this week. The have a 20 pack of 20 oz bottles for $18 or something. Still cheaper than at the store, but you know...
  19. Go Tamra! I know it can be really hard to avoid desserts. I had a lot of fun today ladies! Donna is such a pro at leading the group. Awesome! And Tina, I love the clothes you gave me. I'm wearing the blue dress right now (size 20!) and it is super cute! I'm so excited! After we left Mimi's, I went over to the mall to return some pants at Lane Bryant. I had bought them online and used their sizing chart online. Well the "right fit" wasn't such a right fit. I walked in the door and the manager there told me "Um, I'd put you in a red 5". I was returning a yellow 10. 5 sizes smaller! Of course, they were always big to start with... but come on 5 sizes...! They fit great, it'll be nice to have pants that fit. Here's the problem. I bought the pants in March and they have a 90 day return policy. Since it was over the 90 days, they couldn't give me a refund even though I had the receipt, and the pants were still in the bag they were shipped in. Never even taken out of the bag. So they couldn't refund me the price I paid ($40- on sale) and I just thought, whatever I'm just exchanging. Uh..no. She could only give me the lowest price the pants ever sold for $29. And the pants I was exchanging them for were $59 or something terrible like that. I'm so flippin' mad at lane bryant right now. I'm going to write a letter to the regional manager or something. It's just absurd. It's not like I was trying to return a seasonable item 5 months later, that I would understand. This was a wardrobe staple that they still have on the racks, and it's just not fair! I do admit, I should have returned them much sooner- that is my fault. But still. Lame.
  20. See Tamra... you're exercising your resistance muscle! The more you work it, the easier it is! (Unfortunately, the same goes for that give-in muscle). I worked that resistance muscle today. The ladies at work wanted to get take-out. They decided on LaBou... my how I love LaBou. *sigh* anyway... I decided not to get anything, since I had a perfectly mediocre lunch I brought from home and because I can't justify spending $7 on a salad when we're trying to buy a house. So I resisted! Woohoo! I realize, the "resist muscle" works with saving money too.
  21. I'll be there walking tomorrow! Yay for Mikes new job! Go Nicole! What part of town are you looking to live?
  22. Oh, and I love the idea of walking before the meeting!
