Hi from Louisiana

Is it normal post-op to be tired after exercise?
I am almost 3 months out and JUST in the last couple of weeks do I feel as though my energy level is (almost) back to normal -- there were times when it was all I could do to stay awake until 9 and then had to force myself to get up at 6 (and I used to go to bed at midnight and be up at 5:30) ... I literally could (and did) fall asleep sitting up -- I think it is normal - you've been thorugh major surgery and your body needs time to adjust, plus you're taking in less calories, so less energy reserve.

Carrying your own meds to and from mexico
Wow, I didn't even give it any thought -- I just put all my pills in a 7-day pill box - one for each day that I took at the time and put it in my suitcase. Coming home I had all the nexium mups I had purchased at the Pharmacy, along with some soradol and put them in my suitcase and never gave it another stop -- they don't care what you bring into Mexico and I really don't think they care what you take out of Mexico as long as you declare it - i.e., fruit, meats, narcotics. Nexium Mups isn't a narcotic so I truthfully don't think customs in Mexicali is going to care what you're taking out -- when we drove into Mexicali ourselves - we had to go back to Calexico to mail something and othe rthan sitting in line to get out of Mexicali for over an hour (it was early in the morning) we had no trouble going through customs. On the trip home the line wasn't as long - and the only thing the customs officer did was look in our back window and said have a great day. When I had my surgery, and Ernesto was driving, all they did was ask for all of our passports and then called our name out one-by-one and gave us the passports back -- they didn't even look in the windows. Ernesto goes back and forth every single day and they know him and who he is transporting. Do what makes you comfortable; however, I think you're stressing out about it way too much.

Pre-op diet day 3
Thanks Nanna - we plan on having a GREAT time ... I had to have a hiatal hernia repaired, so that is how I get around the weird eating and the weight loss -- as I eat lunch with the same people pretty much every day, too. So you might try that route --mine isn't a total lie, just an omission of the VSG surgery -- I truly did have a hiatal hernia repaired and it is really what is causing me the problems with my eating - more so than the sleeve. I also have the belching - sometimes with no warning - quite embarrassing.

No More weight coming off...and bummed
Hotchocolate -- no you are not alone - EVERYONE has hit a stall -- I'm at stall #3 in 3 months - however, I've lost 43 lbs. so I'm not complaining - and I know the scale will start moving again (or I'll catch that little gremlin unawares and he wo't be able to keep his foot on the same number button) ... hang in there, you're doing great -- remember, it didn't come on overnight, it's not going to come off overnight either -- and take encouragement in the NSV (non-scale victories) like your pants and panties falling off -- however, please be at home when that happens okay?

Surgery 9-3-2009
Glad to hear your surgery went well; sorry to hear you were sick and in pain. Trust me, you will feel SO MUCH better after a shower. Funny how that helps. Keep walking, walking, walking and sipping, sipping, sipping. If cold water hurts, try warm or herbal teas. I've always had better luck with warm drinks at least until noon and then I can tolerate small sips of something really cold.

Out of the twos!

Pre-op diet day 3
I chose not to tell people at work and most of my family for the main reason they are very judgemental and I didn't want to be under constant scrutiny--it was a personal choice.

Otay -- tell me about the sleeve
With the number of people on here who have gone to Dr. Aceves, I bet his numbers are up over 700 by now! He did Dr. Campos' and Ernesto's sleeves too, plus when I was there there were others, not on this forum, who had also had sleeve surgery.

Dehydration Issues.
You also have to remember that you aren't eating as much so there isn't as much to push things through (in my surgeon's words) and so it is not unnormal at all to go several days without a BM. Plus at the liquid stage, liquids in, liquids out. This may be TMI; however, I am almost 3 months out and I do not have a BM every day - sometimes it is every 3 days. I am do not have the constipated feeling and so, after speaking with my surgeon, I don't worry about it. As long as I am getting in enough fluids, eventually there will be enough whatever to make a BM.

Thanks Daisy - now if I JUST felt that way too!

Having trouble transitioning into maintenance
I'm glad I don't go to your doctor - I would think he should be pleased with any weight loss -- it means you didn't gain. I don't really care what my doctor thinks about my weight loss - the fact that I am losing on a regular basis makes me very happy and to me, that's all that matters. I'm sorry your doctor wasn't happier for you -- if it's any consolation -- I'm very happy for you -- keep up the good work.

Has Dr. Alvarez had any VSG Leaks?
Welcome to our family and congratulations on making your decision. I have read things on here about Dr. Alvarez, but truthfully, I can't remember if it was good or bad -- you might try doing a search of all posts or threads with "Alvarez" as the topic - it will bring up all posts with his name in it and you can read the ones that are pertinent.

Lack of interest in food
I agree with Tiffykins --- everyday is an adventure!

How much help do you need when you get home?
I was fine at home alone - I was driving the next day - I am sure you will be fine if you can't get someone to stay with you. The only thing you'd really need help for is to life anything over 15 lbs. and if you're by yourself, then just don't lift anything. Also, I suppose it would depend on how long you are in the hospital after surgery -- I was there 3 days and felt fine when I was discharged - never had any dizziness at all from the get go.

New Photos
Thanks guys for all the nice comments -- Bearded keeps telling me I'm shrinking -- I can tell it in my clothes, but not to look at me -- so I appreciate all of you who say you can tell too! HUGS to you all.:blushing::grouphug4:

New Photos
So I finally figured out how to get all my photos in to one album - I have posted 4 more - 43 lbs. down - I can see some difference, but not much -- I can tell it more so in my clothes than in looking at myself ... I hope I can SEE a difference in the mirror soon.

Greens
Something I tried when I was an mushies - you blend an egg yoke with some cottage cheese (you can add a little LF Mayo). Lots of Protein and easier to get down than scrambled eggs. Some thought it was gross - and it probably sounds that way; however, I liked it and it went down easy - Ruthi liked it too.

Surgery date getting closer!
You can't have milk on clears - you'll have to wait on that until you move to clears.

Another question about Dr. Aceves
I think he only has one - at least it was the same one for me and Bearded - young and VERY handsome!
