  1. I have always been extremely open about my surgery. To be honest, I think it helps me make good food choices especially at work. If I am having a weak moment and feel like making a bad food choice, the fact that others know helps me pass on bad choices and helps me stay the coarse. I do worse when I am by myself because there is not that accountability. I also like helping others who might benefit from lap band. Hell, I wouldn't have gotten mine if others had not been generous enough to share there story, so I figure its my job to pay it forward. Just my 2 cents.
  2. Drews - I am with you. I had to wait last week for my fill and the office was full because the doctor got held up in surgery. I heard several people say that they didn't understand why they weren't loosing weight and the band wasn't working very well because they could still eat anything they wanted. I kept thinking to myself that just because you can doesn't mean you should. Good luck with your interview. I started my job last week after being out of work for 2 months and I know how nerv racking it can be. Kepp us informed of how it went
  3. Can you all beleive that we are at 6 months out this month? Amazing.
  4. Started my new job yesterday. The only problem was lunch. There is no onsite place to eat and they ordered lunch for us - thick crust pizza:cry . I was good and just got a bottle of water and waited til I got off work to go eat. Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to pass on the pizza. Go for my 4th fill today. Can't wait.
  5. Besides, you know this is the reaction you were looking for when you started this thread, you didn't honestly believe everyone aggreed with you. Did you?
  6. I am far more embarassed of Clinton and Carter. Not embarrased by Bush at all. Bush acted on intelligence he thought to be credible (as did everyone at the time)
  7. Wow, I come to this site to get support for my weight issues and get this crappy thread. I obviously don't support the views here, but is this the site for this? I guess you all will be more happy when we become a democrat controled socialist state. Good luck with all that!!
  8. Just wanted to give an update. After being out of work for 2 months, I start a new job on Monday. The kicker is that I will be making 10K more than I did at my last job. I will be glad to get out of the house and away fromt he refigerator all day. I think it will be great for my continued success. Also, I go for my 4th fill on Tuesday! hope to get some good restriction. Have a great weekend everyone.
  9. Alicia, Don't get discouraged. Mine is slowing down a lot too. The closer we get to goal, the slower it will come off. Like someone told me, I didn't put the weight on overnight and it won't come off that fast either. Hang in there!
  10. I went to Six Flags this weekend and have a blast. I am down enough that I was able to ride all the rides I wanted with no problems fitting. I hadn't been able to ride for some time. I was able to make good food choices. I got a smoked turket leg, took the skin off and ate a little less than half of it. Just thought I would update everyone.
  11. Telly - You look fantastic!!!!! I can't wait til I get to that stage.
  12. Today is makes 5 months post op and I hit 100 pounds lost when I got on the scales this morning. I could not be more happy with my band! Thanks to everyone here - you have been such a great support system. I still have a ways to go, but know I will get there. My latest pictures are on my website below. Current picture was taken about 2 weeks ago.
  13. My wife says I no longer snore. So I guess I am "cured". Go me!
  14. Both are fine with me. Its funny. Like others I get better steak now. Iw ould not order the better cuts of meat pre-banding because the portions weren't big enough in my opinion. Now I get better cuts because it is still more than I can eat.
  15. My doctor made me wait 6 weeks for solids, but didn't make me do pre-op diet. As others have said, each doctor is different. i would follow your doctors guidelines
  16. I voted for my belly, but have loose skin all over. Started a little higher at 48 BMI. I hope to have PS some day, still have plenty more to loose first. I will say though that the extra skin is well worth feeling as good as I do minus 90 pounds. Wouldn't change that for the world. My BMI is now down to 35.
  17. Same as most posts here, took a shower the day I got home. I had no stitches or bandages so I don't know if that makes a difference. My doctor used skin glue and liquid bandage
  18. I had started out thinking that PP would not be a priority, but now that I am loosing a lot, I can see where a TT is going to be necessary. I have been obese most of my life and my apron is considerable. Got a ways to go, but will definately be checking into it in the next year or so
  19. Thanks for the encouragement. Hard to imagine I inspire others, but will gladly take that roll as so many on here have been inpiring to me. Good luck with your upcoming journey.
  20. Hope you enjoyed your one year of glory. It will be short lived. Go SOONERS!
  21. Yes I am hooked on reality TV in general (Survivor, Amazing Race, Treasure Hunters, Hell's Kitchen, etc) but Big Brother is at the top of the list. Hate to admit it because reality TV is kind of mindless, but count me in as a fan.
  22. Great job!. And this is just the begining. Keep up the great work.
  23. September already (well tomorrow)? Where does the time go?
  24. I got bad news yesterday that I needed to find other employment after 6 1/2 years at my current job. That is the bad part. In the past, this would have been a prime time to binge eat because of depression. But the good news is that I din't. In fact, I had to make myself eat because I didn'r have an appetite. Strange but fantastic. The other good news is that I should have a better opportunity for new employment. We all know us fat people get descriminated against, but being down 80 pounds and having more confidence - I know I am going to land on my feet and do well. Just wnated to share. Kind of a bad way to find out how great it is to be banded, but I will take it.
  25. To each their own I guess. I think it is too important to help others that may need more information. After all, if others hadn't been open with me, I would not be here today. Your right that you can never take it back - nor would I want to. Pay it forward is what I say!!!
