  1. Great job ladies! Raquetball sounds so fun. It is a great aerobic excercise.
  2. When? May 9, 2006 Why? To save my life and give me a better quality of life. Who? Dr. Cribbens in Dallas Texas Insurance or Not? Yes How it felt? Easy surgery, went back to work after 3 days with no complications What has changed?Everything, things are better than I ever imagined Pictures!I have pictures on my website ( www.nealslapband.com )<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
  3. I had Flouruscopy done the day after surgery. My doctor wouldn't release me until it was done to make sure everything was ok before I went home. I had mine done here in Dallas.
  4. Good luck Puddin! Let us know how things go. I hope to follow your footsteps later this year.
  5. Ok, this is hard to narrow down, but I would have to go with: 1) Halle Berry 2) Denise Richards 3) Kelly Carlson (Kimber from Nip/Tuck)
  6. I think it has been stated, but for results like that, there is probably an uderlying health problem or they ate "around" the band.
  7. I will second that Dreslou! The quality of life has increased dramatically. I had a similar experience at a Dallas Stars game on New Years Eve.
  8. I will just say ditto to the others. I will add this though. Once the weight starts coming off, you will have more energy and self-confident than you have ever had. It get better - much better! Hang in there.
  9. What an awsome transformation Alicia.
  10. I would say this is not a common occurence. It is probably the most common type of complication, but in the percentage of overall lap-banders, I would say it is a small number.
  11. I get mine at GNC or Vitamin Shop
  12. Congrats on your date. Let us know how things go.
  13. That was not your original question. Your original Quest had nothing to do with yo-yo dieting. Please refer back to the original post: Just a general question here would like your honest opinion. Are Obese people unattractive and unpoular. PS, Not my views please be reasure of that.
  14. This might be dificult, but not impossible. This is not a UHC issue. Your employor who the the policy is through has excluded lap-band as a way to save money for the company. They probably got a better deal by excluding certain things from their coverage.
  15. I agree with Weetsin on this. I also agree with NGAdams. Its all how you carry yourself. I have been big all my life and yo-yo constantly loosing significant weight several times only to gain it back with interest. I think the point is that a lot of us, myself included have never enjoyed some of the pleasures in life because A) we can't physically do it, or we don't have the confidence to do it. There are certainly exceptions to that. I use myself as a perfect example. Before I was banded and at my higher weight, if I saw an attractive girl (such as checking me out at the grocery store), I would rarely make eye contact becuase I thought to myself that she must find my size disgusting. Now, I have much more confidence and I will look them in the eye and smile. So was I unattractive? Yes, because of the way I thought of myself.
  16. The best that has happened since lap band is that I can go into any store and buy clothes that fit.
  17. I wish I knew mine. Maybe my doctor's office will have them. The only thing I know is my pant size has gone from a 54/56 inch waist to a 36 inch waist. Us guys just don't think about stuff like that I guess.
  18. Hi Regina - just sent you a PM.
  19. PB virgin here too, hope to keep it that way.
  20. Alicia - those measurment changes are great! Its interesting your arms are now even
  21. Probably means that it is a white creamy gravy like used for biquits and gravy and chicken/country fried steak. Just a hunch.
  22. When I joined the gym a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned I was having that problem and he recomended Shea Butter (in the lotion section) I bought some to try, but it hasn't been long enough to see if it works.
  23. Its already been said, but everyone's journey is different. Mine has been great and complication free. Most doctor's have their prefered WLS, don't be talked into or out of anything. The decision is yours alone. Just keep in mind that any WSL is not the magic cure. Work still has to be done and rules followed for the most part. But the band makes those rules much easier to follow. I was banded in May 2006 and have lost 138 pounds as of this morning. I am 5'9" and started at 334 pounds. I have followed a low carb/low fat/high Protein diet and I think that has helped me loose at the rate I have lost. Has it been easy - no, would I do it again - in a heartbeat. Good luck with your decision. By the way. I have before and current pics on my webpage. the link is in my signature.
  24. Drewslou - Thanks once again for creating a new months thread. You are doing so well. I wish everyone a happy new year. I con't remember entering a new year with so much hope. Its a great feeling. I am down to a size 36 waist pants and a large shirt. That feels weird not having to put at least one "X" in front of large. I went to a Dallas Stars hockey game for New Year's eve and felt comfortable in the seat for the first time. The last time I went I had to wedge myself in the seat. This time I sat comfortably and my whole arm fit in between me and the arm rest. Hope everyone had as good of one as I did.
