  1. I say don't go. I'm not a teller, and when you tell someone you aren't eatting because you "have a stomach bug" or "aren't hungry" they get suspicious. I didn't tell any of my co-workers at work about it,and about 3 weeks after surgery my boss asked me if I had surgery, b/c i was losing and never eatting at my desk. People notice. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
  2. Here is my experience, from my surgery & working in a hospital for 4 yrs. Typically you don't get a catheter in your bladder with the lap band. So you get to get up and go potty :hurray:. The nurses will probably let you change into your jammies if you want, aslong as you dont have any IV's and such. But I say, just stay in your gown that night. I didn't stay the night with my surgery, but man was I sleepy from the anesthesia! Do you have sweat pants or something? I wore my workout clothes for like 3 days after surgery. Good luck! I hope this helped alittle!
  3. Hi All- Im nervous about my first fill tomorrow morning. What should I expect? My doc does the 1st fill under fluoro <or however you spell it>. Got the jist on, not eatting or drinking 4 hrs prior. Am I going to be sore afterwards? or just feel tight? My doc also does the "fill diet" afterwards, 3 days of clears, 4 days of fulls, 1 week soft. So that will be fun again! haha. I'm excited, i'm ready to get the weight really coming off, just nervous. Advice?
  4. Im still semi new to all of this. But i've found that Taco Bell Nacho's is a slider for me. I got em and said "ill just have 2" yeah right. I have to stay away f rom Taco Bell!
  5. No cheating, i was good! I'm proud of that too. There are reasons why they give you a pre-op diet. It's not just because they are mean. lol. It's for your health. I say don't cheat, otherwise you might screw yourself. I had 5 days of clears. It wasn't much fun, but hey by day 2 I wasn't even hungry anymore.
  6. Joint Pain is considered a comorb. Aslong as your doc has it documented, etc. I have BCBS. Had a 5 yr weight history, Psych eval, 6mo supervised diet with my PP, etc etc. Goodluck! Stay on them, push & push. The best advice I was given was "stay on your insurance company, where they know you as a person, and not just another case." Worked for me I called them every other day for a week, and got my approval.
  7. Hey there- if you dont mind me asking, how long have you been on the lexapro? Lexapro made me crazy. I had to get off of it. They say Lexapro is more fast acting but doesn't work very well long term. As far as the weight loss etc, I dont have any advice. But I did want to share that bit of knowledge with ya. Good luck!
  8. Ya know i'm alittle over 3 weeks post-op and I've never had any problems with my skin. And now? I have a pimple the size of a planet on my chin! I hope they are right, and it clears up and no more issues. I dont like it!
  9. Thanks everyone!!!! Let's see how it goes tomorrow! I'll let ya know
  10. Ok, so I was banded 3/30/09, so I'm still fairly new. I'm still suppost to be on mushy food. I had decided not to tell anyone at work about my surgery choice. Now, the problem is.... I have to go out to a lunch meeting on Tuesday & Wednesday of next week. I dont want them to notice me not eating as much, and not guzzling down my beverage. Advice please???? To make matters worse I work with a close girlfriend, we've both been heavy our whole lives & struggled, so she will notice my eatting or lack of. I really don't want her to know. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated & welcomed! Thanks!
  11. Definately shop around. I had BCBS, but if I didn't have insurance, they would give you a deal of like $11,000 that included everything & you got the program fee waived, and you got 1 or 2 after surgery care included. Shop around! Good luck!
  12. My doctor & support group tell me that straws are a big no no. They encorporate air in the pouch, causing burping etc. Also, I was told no carbonated beverages, b/c of the gas expanding in my pouch. Best of luck to ya!
  13. I was banded 3/30/09- lost 7.5 pounds so far. Struggling to get enough water in. I dont know if anyone else is having this problem, but it seems to be hard for me when I go out to dinner w/ someone, and try to concentrate on eatting my cottage cheese slow enough. I'm so used to being able to just shove it in and swallow, ya know? Anyways, all is well here though. I'm down 15.5 pounds from my 5 days of clear liq pre-op diet. Yay!
  14. Hey There- I'm still pretty new to band land, and new to the lap-band. I was banded on 3/30/09 and my stats are as follows::: Age: 26 Gender: Female Marital Status: why does this matter? eh. Lost: 7.5 pounds  Occupation: Desk Job Location: Central IL Weight to lose: 120ish Anybody willing to deal w/ me? :tt2:
  15. I had a big issue w/ being tired on the pre-op clear liquid diet (5 days) my dr had me on. But they allowed us to have Protein drinks like Isopure on the pre-op diet, which totally helped my energy. As far as being post-op working-out, I've been told to drink my Protein Drink like an hour before I plan to work out & pair it w/ a carb to energy. Also, make sure you are doing ur drinking while working out, it will help. Hope this helped
  16. Well, maybe your doctor should've helped clue you in why a person who needs to lose 100 pounds and a person who needs to lose 200 pounds Pre-Op diet being the same.... your liver needs to rest & it needs to strink. Fat people tend to have fat livers. It's an easy answer. Just being honest, maybe you should have the bypass if you are having such a hard time with the 2 week pre-op diet. Just an idea, best of luck
  17. Hey there- Welcome to bandland. I was banded 3/30/09 and just got put on pureed foods today, so you are lucky, haha. I just wanted to agree w/ Susan, the Magic Bullet is the best! I bought one primarily for use w/ this surgery. Good luck!
  18. So I'm newly banded, & am still on the "full liquid" phase, but as for a really thin crust pizza, do you have a "Monical's" around where you are? Maybe ask the waiter to make it extra crispy and small bites and chew chew chew! I've been told as far as the cheese, cheese is good it's a Protein. I have no advice on the pancakes! Good luck!!!!!!
  19. Hello- So I'm new to the game still. I know it's important to do muscle building or maintaining exercises. So, do i go straight for my elliptical again? or start off slow with the treadmill? Another thing that I'm worried about, when working out, how close to my 2 oz meal? I'm thinking to do a Protein drink right before my workout to help fuel me along. Am I thinking right?
  20. I can totally understand. Reading your situation was like looking in the mirror. I was sooo worried bout the "going to sleep & not waking up." haha. But, it was a quick nap, well it felt like a quick nap. I am soo happy I did it. I did stay with my parents for the first week post-op to help with getting up & down, and get me my water. Good luck!
  21. Gotta Force em down. It's so important, that's what is keeping your body going & keeping you energized! Not to mention, healing your wounds! I gotta choke my down too, something that you just gotta do!
  22. Thank you all for your responses. I was thinking pureeing a deviled egg & pureeing baked beans (of course, 1 oz of each only.) I'm only to have 2 oz for a meal. I'm still on liquids, is it pathetic that I'm looking forward to my pureed egg & baked beans? haha.
  23. Hey all- Like I've said in a previous post, I am newly banded 3/30/09. I am still on the "full liquid" phase of my diet. I am worried about Easter coming up. I will be on "pureed" by that date. Any tips on what's decent to puree for Easter dinner? Anybody anybody? Thanks!
  24. Hi All- I'm a newbie to Bandland. I was banded on 3/30/09, no real problems so far. Well, unless you count me ending up in the ER on 3/31/09. I went in because I had this horrible tightening pain episode. It came & went, I baffled the ER doc. No problems though, band is were it should after taking the abdominal xrays, etc. I was already dehydrated & had a slight fever though. That came on fast. So now I'm drinking 24/7, well it feels like it anyways. :welldoneclap:
  25. Good deal. I hope all is still going well. I am also new to the bandland and was banded on 3/30/09. :welldoneclap:
