So, I know this is probably a silly question, but my lap band surgery (May 22!) will be my first time at a hospital. Do I bring pajamas or do you sleep in gown? I assume loose clothing is most comfortable after surgery and when I leave. Are pajamas appropriate to walk around in when you leave? Unfortunately, that's all I have with an elastic waist. Also, if you're staying overnight, do you have to use a catheter or can you get up and go to the bathroom?

Here is my experience, from my surgery & working in a hospital for 4 yrs. Typically you don't get a catheter in your bladder with the lap band. So you get to get up and go potty :hurray:. The nurses will probably let you change into your jammies if you want, aslong as you dont have any IV's and such. But I say, just stay in your gown that night. I didn't stay the night with my surgery, but man was I sleepy from the anesthesia! Do you have sweat pants or something? I wore my workout clothes for like 3 days after surgery. Good luck! I brought my pj's but never put them on. I ended up wearing the hospital gowned. It was open in the back so I was glad I brought a large robe. It covered me up when I did my walking around the hospital wing every 3 to 4 hours. it was easy on and easy off.

I also took pjs but it was easier to just leave the gown on. Plus my surgery was late in the day and I just slept all evening anyway. I would not have wanted to get up and change. They even gave me warm socks so I didn't need slippers from home either .

I didn't have to have a catheter or have to stay. I wore my excerise clothes home, but they would let you wear your pajamas home as long as they are easy to get on and comfortable. Good luck!!

I had a catheter but it was removed in recovery. I took loung shorts to change into got them out and never put them on they sat on the tray table until I packed them back the next day when I left the gown was just easier.

I just wore sweat pants and a tank top - pretty comfy as they weren't tight at all and I could pull them under my stomach if I was uncomfortable - One thing to add though - Take a pillow of yours in the car for when you go home and place it against your stomach it'll really help, my mum picked me up after surgery in my car which is like 25 years old so pretty bumpy and although it was painful it would of been worse if I didn't have a pillow

My hospital is going to give me a catheter even though the surgery is short and I leave the same day. I plan to take some loose pants similar to sweat pants and a large loose shirt for the ride home. The "girls" will hang free for the day! Also, my hospital said they would provide a stomach pillow for the ride home, so the post above is right on point.

Other posts I have read suggested taking Gas-X strips and something to moisten your lips, so I'm following that advice.
