  1. I am nearing the end of my first day of the liquid diet. I must say that it is not as bad as I had imagined it being. The protein shakes are very important... they help the hunger really by taking it away. I drink water/tea in between with some sugar free jello and I have been doing very well today. The worst part is when you get hungry your immediate reaction is to eat... then you remember... oh yeah! That realization bites, but other than that HEY!!! I got this! We will see if I feel the same on day 2, 3, 4 etc... ~ Jason
  2. Hey & thanks for the messages! dgrimes - Heck yeah! Are you ready or what? I am pumped. I started my Pre-Op diet today and am not too excited, but found that the protein keeps me full for a while. Drink Drink Drink!!! I got a lot of meds for after surgery today too... Yeesh. I was given two liquids, injections for control of clots, anti-nausea meds etc... Small price to pay I suppose, but it sure seems like a lot of stuff to take. Anxiously waiting... Jason

    Congrats abbypoo!!!!!!
  4. Restless - Thanks for informing us that you can ask them to remove most of the gas after surgery. I did not know if they could or not. I am going to ask tomorrow during our Pre-Op Class. Jason
  5. It is getting real and very close... I start my liquid diet tomorrow. I have been reading my instructions and it sounds like a blast! HaHa!! I have the Pre-Op class tomorrow from 10:15am to 5:00pm. Should get a good bit of useful information. Talk to you soon! Jason
  6. Well... was I shocked today when I went to weigh in! This past week I ate a bit more than normal. I continued to eat healthy, but still took in more than I have in the past few weeks. I was wondering if I would simply flatline or perhaps gain a lb or 2. Much to my surprise I lost 8lbs!!! This puts me at 82lbs lost in 15 weeks! I was pleasantly surprised to say the least! I start my liquid diet this coming Thursday & am due for surgery on the 20th still. I am ready & waiting!!! I hope everyone is doing well & will talk to y'all soon. Jason
  7. Hi everyone! I lost 8lbs this week which puts me at 82lbs lost in 15 weeks. I am down to 407 & on my way to surgery in less than two weeks! Jason
  8. It is pretty rough for your sister not to support you, but I say hold precious those that are supportive and concentrate fully on those positive things. Don't let anything hold you back. YOU know you are doing the best thing for YOU and that is what counts. You keep your spirits high and you only have 2 days left!!! Power through the tough times! Best of luck to you. Jason

  13. My wife, Dana, is very supportive of just about anything I do in life. She is & will always be my best friend. I share everything with her and this is no different. We both are trying hard to lose weight. She started at 230lbs & is down to 203lbs. She is a type 1 diabetic being diagnosed in 2006. It is difficult for her to lose, but she is committed to her well being. Dana lost her mother in 2003 to type 2 diabetes & watched her for several years deteriorate because she did not want to care for her disease. Dana is determined not to follow her mother's footsteps in that manner. We are both improving our health & quality of life for one another & our two children! She tells me that she is nervous about the actual surgery, but who isn't nervous about having a procedure done on a loved one ya know? I keep assuring her that all will go well & we will be home together soon afterwards. She will be there waiting for me to get out of surgery, of course. Jason
  14. abbypoo - My liquid diet starts on Aug 13 and my surgery date is Aug 20. The liquid diet will continue for 4 weeks past Aug 20. Thank you! Breaking through to 399 will be a great feeling and then hitting my 100lbs lost at 389!!
  15. Incredible & Awesome!!! Congrats!!!
  16. I had my weekly weigh-in yesterday and lost 4lbs last week. I am at 415 currently & started at 489 on Apr 27, 2009. Hoping to hit 399 before Aug 20 (surgery date)!!! Jason
  17. Hello everyone!! Thanks for the awesome responses! I had my 14 week weigh-in today. I lost 4lbs so I am up to 74lbs now! I have to stop taking the Phentermine (appetite suppresant) this Friday. On the 13th I start my liquid diet which will last a total of 5 weeks with one of those weeks being before surgery, of course. As with many on the forum the day is getting close & closer. I am getting more excited with each passing day! I am ready. About the blog - I have never done one and only read 1 person's I think. Don't know much about them. How do people know when it is updated & when to go read something new if they are interested? Someone will have to school me on blogging I suppose! HaHa!! So far I have enjoyed just updating this post I guess. Is that alright for a while?

  20. Hello Greg. I am certainly not a fake man & I am having the Band put in on August 20, 2009. If you look through the sub-forums you will see one called "The Men's Room." This will give you several guys to talk to about the surgery. If you decide to go forward with it I wish you the best of luck! Jason
  21. I just got my surgery date yesterday!! Jason__________ Thursday August 20 @ 9:30am!!!
  22. Well... It has finally happened!!! August 20th 9:30am is my surgery date! I do my Pre-Op class on Aug 13. Looks like I will have 7 days of liquid diet before the surgery. I am ready for this day to come! The tests from the GI doc came back negative so that was great news. Dr. Fox & my primary doc agreed that my mild anemia was due to my rapid weight loss. Things are looking up as each day passes!!! Now ... the waiting:)~
  23. Oh I see... once I read your post again I understood a bit more. At first I thought you were having trouble with that office. Sorry for the confusion. I am glad things are going well for you! It is an exciting process and I know I am ready for the surgery. Like I said.... keep us/me informed of how things go with your journey. I would be interested in hearing from someone else so close by. Best of luck! Jason
  24. I live in the Tri-Cities and am using Dr. Fox in Richland. I highly recommend him for his services thus far. I have been working with him for the past three months and am due to have surgery sometime in late August. He is very thorough and keeps you updated about your testing. If you are close enough to give him a chance I think you would be happy with the decision. Otherwise I hope all goes well with Rockwood. I have not heard anything of them since I am living in the Tri-Cities. Keep up informed. Jason
  25. Very cool!!! Congrats & thanks for the encouraging words! Jason
