I'm a Christian also, and my pastor does get onto us "regularly" about overeating. Our bodies are temples. We are to treat them as such. I have abused my body for many, many years with food. The lapband is giving me the tool that I need to get my temple back to where it should be. Actually, my pastor's wife had lapband about a month before I did. I still occassionally have the thoughts of why I couldn't control the eating through prayer, etc. But I am doing what I can now to present my body as a living sacrifice to the Lord each and every day. God Bless!

You know, Band Groupie, your blog just makes so much sense. My gosh...The definition of full was an eye opener. I've never thought about it like that. Thanks for sharing. Happy 4th!

I have an office job also. I took one week, and was extremely tired when I went back. Ended up doing 1/2 days for the first couple of days back.

Congratulations and Happy Birthday!

I can't imagine the temptations that you are facing. Plumcrzy2 is right. This is about you. You do what you have to do for you. No cakes. If he wants one so bad, he can fix it himself. or...Most grocery stores have single slices of cake. He can get that. Keep telling your family that you will need their support... Hopefully, they will come around. For now, walk away when they start eating junk food.

Make sure you drink in 2 oz. sips right now while you are healing. You may be sucking in air also when you drink which can cause some pain. Also, try rolling/rocking/walking to get the gas pains to move on out. Sounds like you are doing awesome!

That's a good question for your doctor. They told me to wait 4 weeks before I started lifting weights. I could start walking good distances after 3 weeks. I would suggest calling the doc office and asking. It probably varies by doctor and patient.

Thank you both, Band Groupie and btyboop58! I know I shouldn't, but I can't wait till I weigh less than her... It's exciting to have a goal and know that you can reach it. Thanks for the advice.

I know that you have all kinds of people who either support or don't support our decision to have lapband. I am getting some flack from a girl who is very competitive, and doesn't like the fact that I am about to catch up to her weight. Now, she's saying "well, she had to have surgery to lose. Atleast, I don't have to do that." Sick to death of that... Yes, I did have to have surgery. I've fought weight issues my entire 43 years, and I knew this was the best option. Just wish I wouldn't let her get to me like this. I never can think of a good come back... I usually steaming when she says it.... gripe, gripe, gripe... Thanks for listening...

You will read lots of blogs where we all have had hurt feelings, anger, crying spells, etc. Unfortunately, people can be cruel sometimes. I know I have felt and been where you are (and still am to some extent). I was banded on 3/30/09. I made the decision because I was tired of life passing me by. There was so much that I wanted to do. Have confidence in yourself. People are missing out on a great friendship with you. So now, you just concentrate on you, and get ready for a wonderful adventure. God Bless You!

I didn't feel any restriction with my first fill either. I went back in 4 weeks for my second fill, and I can tell a hugh difference. Call them back...
-
I agree totally!!! Get a new doctor. Your concern about restriction would be enough to justify a new doc let alone all the other problems. I was told in the seminar and now with my regular doc visits that I will "feel" the restriction. And I do. I know when to stop eating; I can actually feel it. You know if you take one more bit you will be sick. Best of luck! This is just too important to go along the same path. Change is needed...

Sounds like you have hit a plateau. Are you exercising? Remember to take small sips of liquids (1 to 2 ounces). Chew everything, then chew again, and again... Go back to the basics of lapband eating. You will drop weight. Your body is still trying to adjust. Best of luck!

Congratulations! Each day brings renewed appreciation for the blessings we have.

Amen! I was banded on 3/30/09, and I've lost 31 lbs also. I am not going down in clothes sizes yet either. I am eating right, and exercise daily. I can't wait to actually see a difference. We'll make it...Hang in there.

I didn't feel any restriction on the first fill so I move my second fill up by 3 weeks. I had my second fill on June 10th. Man alive, I can feel the restriction now... Liquids are no problem, but solids are a different story. I really have to eat slow, tiny, tiny bits, and chew, chew, chew... Best of luck to you...

One more day! I have always been told..."Pray for it depends on God, and work for it depends on you." You can do this. Happy day before your new birthday!
-
Glad you are feeling much better. I also had some pain, but was told beforehand that I would. My previous gall bladder surgery though was much harder. It took me about 7 days before I felt "normal" again...
-
That's amazing! I am excited for you, but at the same time envious. I eleven weeks post-op and I am down 31 pounds. I am working out 5 days a week. I do a protein shake for breakfast, small protein of some type for lunch, same for dinner. You are inspiring!! I need to kick it up some. I just had my second fill this morning. Hoping to feel more restriction. Thanks for the inspiration!

Happy Birthday! Congratulations! A new life is on the horizon.

I was banded on 3/30/09. I didn't feel any hunger for about 3 weeks. Then I was hungry. My first feel was 6 weeks post-op. Didn't have any restriction. My second fill is tomorrow. I am very hopeful that I will have some restriction. Because right now, I can eat anything. The period between 2-3 weeks post surgery till your first/second fill is called "Bandster's Hell." It requires lots of willpower (at least for me it did). You will make this a success. Remember that the band is just a tool for us. We still have to keep working. I keep reminding myself of that. I want this to be the magic pill with little effort on my part, but it "ain't" so... We'll make it through. This forum/blog is wonderful, and I have learned more from all these people than my doctor's office. It's invaluable to all of us. Best wishes, and God Bless You!

Things taste different after surgery. Can't explain it, but they do. Take it easy...
-
Bless your heart. I have my second fill on Wednesday. I have been the same as you. I could basically eat anything (and did) I want. I am hoping that the second fill will provide restriction. However, from what you are describing, you are too tight. They haven't found her sweet spot yet. I would continue to call the doctor. You have had plenty of time to "heal." (Comments just from what I have read of others experience.)
Fills, Eating Out...Rants of Frustration

Hello All...Brief history on me. Banded on 3/30/09. I've lost 38 lbs so far. I've had 2 fills (up to 6.5 cc). I've noticed that a fill only works for me about 3 weeks, then the "I can eat anything" comes back. My doc scheduled me for another fill on 8/12 but I just changed it to next week. WishI could reach the elusive "sweet spot."
I am struggling with eating out. Before surgery, I would eat lunch out every day. Now, I might eat out once every two weeks for lunch (today for instance). Just so frustrating. No restriction at all. I ate too much food. Makes me feel like a failure. No control on my part. The guilt is overwhelming at times.
I feel like the weight loss is a little slow, but I am happy that I am losing. Just wanted it faster! ha! On the positive, my exercise is awesome. I never was into exercise. Now, I actually miss it if I don't walk, lift weights, swim or something. That's a hugh change in my life.
The last week of July we are going to Florida, and I am so worried that I won't stick to the "rules." I do good (most of the time) when I am working because its a structured day.
Well, enough of the pity party. It is so encouraging though each day to see so many successes. It truly gets me going each day!
Thanks for listening!
