I am 35 years old, and began my journey weighing 336 pounds.  I have been overweight my entire life, struggled with weightloss pretty much on a daily basis.  I researched lap band for over a year prior to my first consult at Day One.  I began dieting 6 months prior for insurance approval, lost approx 30lbs!  Had my surgery on 4/29/09.  I remember weighing in on the surgery day and for the first time in over 7 years I was not 300 pounds anymore! This was a major turning point for me.  The entire post lap band has been a learning experience.  I've learned a lot about myself, I eat way too fast, I eat food because it is there to eat, not because I am hungry, I've learned that I am an emotional eater, I could go on and on.  The lap band is a tool to weightloss, you have to work with it, or it won't work. It still takes determination and will power.  As of today 9/22/09 I weigh 265 pounds.  I have lost 70 pounds, and I feel GREAT! I still have a long road ahead of me, my initial goal is to weigh 200 pounds, and then I will see how I feel at that point.  I am grateful to my surgeon Dr. Carlos Galvani and the Lap Band for helping me acheive my weightloss.  I am grateful for having a supportive loving husband who loves me no matter what I look like.  And I am most grateful for my 5 year old daughter, she is my inspiration, my motivation, my determination. I am on my way to a new and healthier me, and I am enjoying every moment!!!
