    Weightloss Challenge

If it's not to late, I would like to join the challenge. I had my lapband on 3/30/09 and I've lost 53 pounds. I had foot surgery on 12/2, and I can't walk (for exercise purposes until 1/7). I can lift weights though, and I really need the push. I feel like I am stalling. What do I need to do to join? Thanks so much! Tracye:redface:
  2. Good Morning All, Just some background info. I was banded on 3/30/09. I've had 3 fills; 2 unfills. I've lost 44 lbs so far. It's been a hard road lately. My third fill (2 cc's) was way to tight. I went back and pull out .8 cc's. Still to tight, went back and they pulled 1 cc out. So now, I have 6.5 cc's in my band. Now, it's not tight enough. I can eat just about anything. Dangerous road for me! My next fill is scheduled for 9/16. I am working out six days a week. Now, I am back up 2 lbs. I seem to sabatoge myself. For some weird reason, I am tighter at night instead of in the morning. I end up eating too much in the morning. I just need to get my head on straight. I know it's a process, and I am very happy with what I have done so far. Just worried that I will lose control (like I have so many times in the past pre-band life). Thanks for listening...
  3. Wow! You are an inspiration to so many of us! Congratulations! I was banded on 3/30/09 and I am down 44 lbs. Every day though seems like a struggle. Would you mind sharing what a typical day looks like for you; i.e., what you eat? do you exercise? What type? I know I would appreciate it very much. Regards, :thumbup:Tracye

    eating not so good...

OMG, I wish I knew the answer. I was banded on 3/30/09. I have had 3 fills (last Wed was my third). I had to go back Friday for a .8 cc unfill. I am exactly the same way. Some days, I can eat fine; some days I can't. I can't even pinpoint the type of food. Very frustrating. I am PB'ing way to much! I know it's not good for me, and I worry about damage. I just don't know how to control it. Best of luck to you. If you find the answer, let me know. :crying: God Bless You!

    Disappointed in Myself

It's been one of those days. I had a dear friend that had a nervous breakdown last night (husband left after 34 yrs marriage). It was so sad. Five hours in the hospital then to a facility for her to rest. Three hours of sleep then to work. I just ate 1/2 a cheesburger and 8 french fries. I am paying for it too! I never really thought I was an emotional eating, but I proved to myself I am. I am so disappointed that I did this! When am I going to learn! I also have a painful heel spur and can't walk right now. Just needed to whine a little... :smile2:
  6. Hello All...Brief history on me. Banded on 3/30/09. I've lost 38 lbs so far. I've had 2 fills (up to 6.5 cc). I've noticed that a fill only works for me about 3 weeks, then the "I can eat anything" comes back. My doc scheduled me for another fill on 8/12 but I just changed it to next week. WishI could reach the elusive "sweet spot." I am struggling with eating out. Before surgery, I would eat lunch out every day. Now, I might eat out once every two weeks for lunch (today for instance). Just so frustrating. No restriction at all. I ate too much food. Makes me feel like a failure. No control on my part. The guilt is overwhelming at times. I feel like the weight loss is a little slow, but I am happy that I am losing. Just wanted it faster! ha! On the positive, my exercise is awesome. I never was into exercise. Now, I actually miss it if I don't walk, lift weights, swim or something. That's a hugh change in my life. The last week of July we are going to Florida, and I am so worried that I won't stick to the "rules." I do good (most of the time) when I am working because its a structured day. Well, enough of the pity party. It is so encouraging though each day to see so many successes. It truly gets me going each day! Thanks for listening! Tracye

    Fills, Eating Out...Rants of Frustration

    Christians and Closets

I'm a Christian also, and my pastor does get onto us "regularly" about overeating. Our bodies are temples. We are to treat them as such. I have abused my body for many, many years with food. The lapband is giving me the tool that I need to get my temple back to where it should be. Actually, my pastor's wife had lapband about a month before I did. I still occassionally have the thoughts of why I couldn't control the eating through prayer, etc. But I am doing what I can now to present my body as a living sacrifice to the Lord each and every day. God Bless!

    7/1/09 Redefining 'Full'

You know, Band Groupie, your blog just makes so much sense. My gosh...The definition of full was an eye opener. I've never thought about it like that. Thanks for sharing. Happy 4th!

    Can't control the hunger

Those of us who are banded have admitted that food has been a problem or an addiction. For me, food was my drug of choice. I had someone tell me once that an alcoholic craves liquid sugar and a food addict craves solid sugar. Makes sense to me. You have taken a hugh step, and should be extremely proud of yourself. I am finding that changing my mindset to food is harder than sticking to the band rules. It's something I constantly have to work on. This forum offers so much hope, real life feelings, experiences, that it will guide you through. My doctor's office offers counseling for anyone that needs that extra help in controlling those feelings of no control. It would be wise to seek out help. You will be successful. You have taken the first hugh step to a healthy life. Now, for the next steps... I'll be praying for you. God Bless You!!:bored:

    Recovery Time

I have an office job also. I took one week, and was extremely tired when I went back. Ended up doing 1/2 days for the first couple of days back.

    Need advice for thoughtless family

I can't imagine the temptations that you are facing. Plumcrzy2 is right. This is about you. You do what you have to do for you. No cakes. If he wants one so bad, he can fix it himself. or...Most grocery stores have single slices of cake. He can get that. Keep telling your family that you will need their support... Hopefully, they will come around. For now, walk away when they start eating junk food.

    Odd Pains

Make sure you drink in 2 oz. sips right now while you are healing. You may be sucking in air also when you drink which can cause some pain. Also, try rolling/rocking/walking to get the gas pains to move on out. Sounds like you are doing awesome!

    Is something wrong?

Sounds like you need another fill. I've had two fills, and I can eat about a cup then I am full. Also, there is a website, Five Day WLS Pouch Test (?), that I've read about on this blog. You might want to see if you can google/bing that website. It has some good advice to see if your pouch is stretched.

    Playing Sports after getting banded...

That's a good question for your doctor. They told me to wait 4 weeks before I started lifting weights. I could start walking good distances after 3 weeks. I would suggest calling the doc office and asking. It probably varies by doctor and patient.

    She had to have surgery...

I know that you have all kinds of people who either support or don't support our decision to have lapband. I am getting some flack from a girl who is very competitive, and doesn't like the fact that I am about to catch up to her weight. Now, she's saying "well, she had to have surgery to lose. Atleast, I don't have to do that." Sick to death of that... Yes, I did have to have surgery. I've fought weight issues my entire 43 years, and I knew this was the best option. Just wish I wouldn't let her get to me like this. I never can think of a good come back... I usually steaming when she says it.... gripe, gripe, gripe... Thanks for listening...

    She had to have surgery...

Thank you both, Band Groupie and btyboop58! I know I shouldn't, but I can't wait till I weigh less than her... It's exciting to have a goal and know that you can reach it. Thanks for the advice.

    For everyone....Has Weight stopped you...

You will read lots of blogs where we all have had hurt feelings, anger, crying spells, etc. Unfortunately, people can be cruel sometimes. I know I have felt and been where you are (and still am to some extent). I was banded on 3/30/09. I made the decision because I was tired of life passing me by. There was so much that I wanted to do. Have confidence in yourself. People are missing out on a great friendship with you. So now, you just concentrate on you, and get ready for a wonderful adventure. God Bless You!

    Do I Need A Fill???

Try drinking hot tea (or something hot) first thing in the morning. It helps loosen your throat.

    Question about 1st fill

I didn't feel any restriction with my first fill either. I went back in 4 weeks for my second fill, and I can tell a hugh difference. Call them back...

Need advice for the office! Restriction--what is it?

I agree totally!!! Get a new doctor. Your concern about restriction would be enough to justify a new doc let alone all the other problems. I was told in the seminar and now with my regular doc visits that I will "feel" the restriction. And I do. I know when to stop eating; I can actually feel it. You know if you take one more bit you will be sick. Best of luck! This is just too important to go along the same path. Change is needed...
