  1. Cool about the flip flops. I'm gonna mail you a check. PM me with your address. Now I'm going to jump on your head: You need to fuel your body with good, healthy food. Just because the band allows you to eat less crappy food doesn't mean that eating crappy food is okay. Your body need nutrition to function well. You need the stuff that's in vegetables and protien. What do you do for a living? Oh, yeah, something medical, right? Well think about the fuel you are sticking in your body. Crap will make you feel crappy. Care about your intestines, your stomach, the fat on your ass, yourself and make some better choices. You know what you should be doing. Now do it. I heart you. I don't think I should quit my day job for that motivational speakers' gig...
  2. I've been biking to work this week as part of a Bike to Work Week in Columbus. I have to say it's not nearly as horrible as I pictured it would be. I'm only 5 miles from work when I don't have to drop my DD at child care. Alas, that's only half the week.
  3. TX, Oh No! Write on the back of your hand or something..."FILLED" so you can remember. sorry. eww
  4. Portion Size, Then and Now Here's an article about the change in portion sizes in the last 20 years. Interesting.
  5. mental_floss Blog How bicycling emancipated women. It's a cool, quick read.
  6. ZZ, Both pink and as similar as you can make them. And wait and see your feet still may shrink. Mine have. I'm 5'2''. Shorty Mc Shorty. At least your feet are proportioned to your bodies. My college roommate was 5'3" and wore size 11 shoes. Her hands were long and elegant, her feet were too, but she walked like a duck. TX, Good news on the fill and the downward moving scale.
  7. Well, that's because you volunteered to help with the convention, so I ASSUMED you'd be there. And it's your ass and Brandon's we'd be coming to see. Size 10? How tall are you?
  8. One year at band camp this girl who tap danced was really mean to me. She threw her tap shoe at me and I was tramatized. Ever since then, anyone who tap dances, or dances or even watching Dancing with the Stars sends me into a cold sweat. I don't know you, but I'm sure I wouldn't like you at all because of your name. I hope that was sarcastic enough to not be believable, but really, that's how people think. Every once in a while I find that someone just loathes me, and I'm like, well there's one of my 25%.
  9. I gave them up...I also gave up watching commercials thanks to my DVR. There are more food commercials on kids' TV than there are toy commercials. Food is everywhere, and it's bad, bad food. I'm going to start thinking of it as porn, that bloomin' onion and those cheese fries are triple X rated. I just don't need to see it! But no, I don't watch the cooking shows because I was one to go print off the recipes and try them...:hurray: It's just too tempting.
  10. Boating sounds delightful!
  11. ZZ give me two pairs. Zoe has a BFF who'd dig um too.
  12. Yeah, I could care less about the actual convention info. I mean it would be cool, but you KNOW we'd all have to go just so we could meet. Ohio and Michigan would represent I'm sure. Carol, Stacy, am I right? How about Indiana? Traci??? Do we have Idaho on board? D??? Suzzzie, I know you're planning on being out of the country...balls to that is all I got to say. I'll call JC if we have a good contingent and get him there too. Now, that's a party.
  13. Call the woman out on it. Be sure she's the one who told your business before you get too pissed with her. People might have put two and two together if you've dropped hints trying to get you to react.
  14. Those are so cute. I can't wear filp flops! It's a particular kind of torture I get when where them. It feels like one person took my big toe and someone else took my other 4 and ran in the opposite direction. My daughter however would go crazy for them. Girls size 2, in shade of pink? Let me know. It is super quiet in here. Anyone, anyone????
  15. Well, that's fantastic! As for offending others, girl, 25% of the people you meet will never like you. Ever, and it has nothing to do with you. You remind them of a bad babysitter or the mean lunch lady... I love stories of courage and bravery. They are inspirational!!!
  16. My two cents are that if you are soliciting only from this site good luck getting 20 people to attend. I tried to get a group together for Las Vegas this past January and NO ONE showed up. Mind you it wasn't a conference, it was just a LBT let's all meet kind of thing. I will be staying in a hotel. But having two threads is a might bit confusing...
  17. It does morph into something different. I don't wake up thinking about what will I eat. I don't worry about what people will think about me when they see me eating. Do I focus on food like I used to. Not so much. But I am more successful when I plan my meals and bring my food to work with me. But I think most people who eat mindfully pack their lunch/cook more, simply because you can make healthier choices. It is vastly different, but it isn't an off/on thing. It certainly feels more in control instead of being controlled. HTH J
  18. I'd say I had a stomach virus or some such thing if I tossed my Cookies at friend's house and it was apparent something was amiss. Sorry you had to deal with that. Ugh.
  19. Hi everyone!!!! How's the cycling going? How about food? I'm getting back on the stick again, like I said I would. I'm going to the gym today and getting me a trainer. Also, I'm trying to find that middle ground where I'm not new at this and I'm not maintaining my wieght, but where I'm developing a life long desire to eat well and be healthy for the sake of my health, not for the sake of losing weight. I figure the weight loss will come naturally with better eating. Lots of stuff has been going on in my head, wanting to get my original mojo back like it used to be when it was new, but it isn't all new, so that expectation is a bit out of wack. So I'm working on new expectations that can get me through the rest of my life, not just through this weight loss journey. Anyway, I'm feeling positive and thought I'd holler out to you all with my rambling thoughts. Anyone doing any good rides soon? I know BG, C and I are meeting in Lansing 6/7. But what esle is going on?????????????????
  20. On the weekend until you see how quickly it gets you moving.
  21. Yeah the field trip is going to be a blast. Zoe has already started the morning fighting with me.
  22. You poor thing! Try to find some humor in your situation if you can. It is awful. Absolutely. I'm sure it doesn't help now to hear this will make good fodder for stories later. Yuck!
  23. Well I'd prefer the second weekend in October as well...but we'll see. If it happens it happens. If not we will come up with another plan. I'm sure.
  24. People think I'm cruel to my DD who will wipe out, look at me and I say, "keep on moving." She keeps on moving without tears. I think she's mini you. I have to make her stop when she's bleeding so I can take a peek to make sure she's not really broken. I came to learn that when she cried at the playground she was REALLY hurt, otherwise a bump or a fall just made her angry because it slowed her down. As for excuses not to exercise, I didn't mean any insult. But it is good to know, the bottom line is you'll be okay to move freely about your life doing what you want to do. The only time I felt my port in the way was while I was doing heavy weights on a leg press and my iPod was on the waist band of my pants where it hit my port. I moved the iPod and was good to go.
  25. Suzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzie Thanks for the pic upload. You're awesome. It would be very much fun indeed if the convention happened in Texas this fall. BTW, I couldn't type "TX" without thinking, " A convention happening in Stefanie." We might not get to bike together but we certainly could get to see each other and visit. I so would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that!
