Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
you have time. It's 6pm EST. So what's that for you? Yeah I'm grillin again. Last year I only ate a few tablespoons of food and it wasn't worth it. Now I grill and freeze. And duh, I eat more.

First fill was today - it SUCKED - bad!
Dude, I feel you. I don't allow my doc's LPN to get me. She sees me and starts sweating. I'm a tough one to fill and my doc and I talked about repositioning my port because of it. From now on insist on lydocaine always and a doctor. I do.

I'm making grilled chicken tonight with some peanut sauce thing...wings and drummies maybe thighs. Breasts are too dry for the most part for me to eat anymore. Also there will be grilled stuffed mushroom caps and grilled zucchini and summer squash. Saturday's dinner will be grilled fish, cole slaw and grilled corn. My SO is in town so I'm actually cooking for more than me and a picky 6 year old. Makes me happy.

BG No to the phone with pictures thing. I mean it certainly might be able to recieve pictures but I don't know how to do that. Between you and Shannon I will get into the 21 century. I'm just going to have to trust you, and I do.

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
I got Crank Bros clipless @$%^&^*@!! pedals. On my 5th fall I moved to a hybrid SPD system with walk around shoes. The pedals are a platform on one side and an SPD on the other. My walk around shoe got stuck to the pedal and I had to throw them away. So I switched the cleats off of my road shoes to SPDs and I use them on the hybrid pedal. But the platform doesn't do too well with the road shoe. It's a mess. I do use my road shoes for my spinning class, however. So now do I just change my pedals out to typical SPD's or do I get a new set of walk around shoes? Either way it's going to cost me another $50. But yeah, I fell just standing. I fell slowing down. I've crotched myself for my shoes slipping on the pedals. I nearly panic at every stop sign. It's getting better but yeah. It's not pretty.

October 4th for the 10K? Yeah, I'll plan on it! I'll have the mini and they can run. (I heart calling her the mini!) She needs to see K & J anyway. It will be fun. I put it in my planner. Now I have to do it!

D you are a hill monster! Our ride this weekend is supposed to be hilly. I'm actually excited. My cycling fever kind of wained this season. I think it had everything to do with falling down over and over again. That and grad school kicking my bootie. Anyway, I'm excited at the prospect of riding which is a change, indeed. I knew if I just kept at it it would turn around. BTW, on my way to Whole Foods. I'm at home with a child who's just a little sick...I've got laundry caught up, I'm making a gourmet dinner and will mow the lawn before long. I could be a SAHM...well for one day a week!

My planner had Rosh Hashanoah and the phases of the moons but it doesn't have Labor Day listed. I'm such a dork! Of course it's not September 28th. The ACC should be a blast. We'll have to decide how to make it happen. When is that run? Maybe I'll do it with you.

You paste your ticker in your signature box. If you go to the CP User link you'll find the signature box. As for did I think I'd be here now when I started? I actually thought I'd be closer to goal. Don't get me wrong, I'm going to see my goal, but the loss slows the further you get from surgery. I just thought I'd maintain -10 a month until I hit goal. That's just silly. I have had every expectation since the get go that I would be fit, powerful, and happy. I am those three things, so in that aspect I am where I thought I would be. Vague huh?

Hey look, I'm posted more than you now too. Regardless how I beat you, you will always trump me in that you are 40 years younger than me and you always will be.

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
You know BG, when you look at the Goalies, the people who have made it to goal, they are runners or anorexic. I like me some food so I think I need to run to my goal weight. Alison wants to run too, so I thought we'd set that as a challenge. And since you're being competetive the idea is to do it in an hour or less. Yeah, 10 minute miles. So I'm working on buliding my speed a little then I'll start adding distance. I want to run but not for more than an hour. That's just silly. AND.........depending on my school schedule and how I'm feeling about biking in general we are talking about doing the Apple Cider Century again on Labor Day. It's in Michigan. You interested? Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters
Hi smokers. I'm not one, but I know on the larger threads they've talked about this very thing. Perhaps you should put your thoughts out there, if you haven't already, to get some feedback. Jason, it's nice to meet you. I'm a 40 y/o (ack!) who returned to college like you. I'm just getting my BS and working toward my MBA. The beauty part about this life is that we can be and do anything we want to do. I spent all my 20s and 30s saying I was over weight and under educated...well no more. So what are you studying? What part of the world do you come from? Welcome, welcome!

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
Hi Choopie In my opinion and what I did was...I only walked, strolled nothing powerful for the first two weeks after surgery. I was an exerciser before surgery so I just chilled. Two weeks out I started using the elyptical, the stationary bike, the treadmill and got sweaty for 30 to 40 minutes. But I didn't stress my tummy by doing inclines. I wouldn't have ridden my bike because I would have been scared of falling or getting hit or something until I was 6 weeks out but my bike trail is pretty congested and I live in a city neighborhood so there's a bit of risk just getting to the trail. At 6 weeks out however, I hit the gym hard; there were no restrictions on what I did. As for running I tried at 260 pounds by walking a minute and running 30 seconds for for a total of 20 minutes. I moved to a walk a minute, run a minute and so forth, you can find all kinds of variations on how to start running. My knee started to hurt when I was able to run 5 minutes. I figured I needed to get more weight off then pick up running again later. I really started biking around that time, it helped that it was May too. The weather in Ohio is good for riding in May. At around 215 I started running again and I do about 3 to 6 miles a week now. I'm not nearly as dedicated as many runners but I still like it as part of a power workout. My points are 1) if it hurts don't do it, find something else. 2) Try again later. 3) Always have a stretch workout goal that you are striving for. It feels better than losing weight when you meet those goals. Mine so far this year have been running a 5-K, and doing a century (100 miles in a day) ride. I have a horrific relay race that is running/cycling and obsticals in August with Babygrl1234 who I met on here and running a 10K in the fall. Hope that helps.

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
I got my first whistle yesterday while biking. I have to say I was surprised. Since now most my chubbiness up front and center I can see why someone might whistle at me from behind. Yes, she did just say that. As for what people might think I tried to give up that mentality when I left high school. When I was big if you wanted to see what a 300 pound woman looks like I'd say stare. I was showing my stomach-ass to other LBTers in the food court at the mall last Saturday. Life's too short to be worried about the foolish behavior or thoughts of other people. And welcome btw. Cycling does start slowly and with short distances. You'll surprise yourself at how quickly you'll add distance and time. It's pretty quick and rewarding. Cycle ON!

Marchies- JULY Independence
Jeni, Good to know about your doc. Nice he's looking out for you. Also fantastic on the weight loss. You'll have to keep us posted on the PS goals. Paula, Cycling is fun! Keep it going! Gwen, I too struggle with making the best choices when bad food is easier. I'm blaming school too. So we can be partners in crime! Tia- That cheap man isn't worth your time. Sorry your heart is hurting but it opens you up to meeting someone who is worthy! Carol- Chin up. Any little bit you can do with exercise will benefit you in the end. Love you all my Marchies!

B- Dude, I've been thinking about you. I hope all turns out well with you and your band. Traveling has got to be hard on so many things, from eating right, to exercise to seeing the wife. Sorry that stinks! Irregardlessly (I love saying that) DO, DO, DO keep in touch. If not here IM me! I don't want to lose contact with you.

Marchies- JULY Independence
Jeni, Sorry to hear about your troubles. But to answer your question. I see the doctor about the same as before, but my pap came back with "a-typical" cells so I had to get one again 6 months later. That too came back with "a-typical" cells so we are watching it. My PCP believes it has everything to do with my drastic body change in the last 16 months. So we shall see. Aside from that I think I have had fewer colds and just am in better health because of the exercise and Vitamins I take daily. How about the rest of you? What do you think? Actually Jeni, I'd love to put this out there on the general forum to see what the overall experience is. Would you mind?

C Good going on the weight loss during vacation. That's always a challenge. You mean to say Bowling Green has Starbucks but Flag City, USA doesn't? That's just so funny. I can think of 8 of them within 3 miles of my house...I just went to Starbucks.com and entered my zip code there are 10 within 3 miles of my house. That's some craziness. No wonder they have to close some stores and lay people off. Glad you had fun.

Frosting is the work of Satan. It's delicious work, but OMG I can't not eat it. I've taken to baking bread. Why on Earth do I need to bake bread? In July no less. There's something wrong in my head.

Has anyone taken up Bycyling?
I like the "monkey on a cupcake" analogy. I think something like "an old man on a bowl ice-cream" might be accurate too. But I just went to a party where the median age had to be 70. A bunch of old cyclists who volunteered for that TOSRV ride I did in May were sitting around eating cake and ice-cream like nobody's business. Anyway, we got what you meant Whos. Bigb- What are you catching up on? Not this thread I hope? There's much fluff written here. Also a lot of good stuff, but golly I wouldn't wish reading this whole thread on anyone. Welcome to the madness.
