Back from my mini Vacay!
Sounds like you had a great time! Don't fret over your eating....you're doing great. I eat a piece or sometimes two of thin crust from Fridays South in Collinsville every couple of weeks...just like you said, slow and easy. Congrats on starting running! I'm doing the Italian Fest 5km on the 21st....care to join us? It's at 8am....but the start line is walking distance from my house. I've been doing the path they are taking for a couple of weeks now. AND I can tell a difference since I started running. As the support group folks kept telling me, I've gotten some new threads....down two waist sizes in the last two months. I don't EVER remember being a 34" waist! Maybe in junior high...haha. HAPPY! See you soon.

Why would you think you're broken? You are down almost 90 lbs! I think thats great. It took me 3 years to really get to a good point with my band....and my head. You can do it! Never, ever give up.

Alcohol
Not a stupid question at all. Its discussed all the time on here. The beer I drink is carbonated, and I don't have issues with it. Carbonation: There are some who will say that its forbidden after banding. And some who say "as much as you want".

Too tight?
"can't keep liquids down" Dehydration can set in FAST....sooner than a few days. I'd suggest calling today, like now...just my opinion. Best wishes.

Mad at myself.
Healthy and skinny people eat cookies. Don't fret over a cookie or dessert treat occasionally. To me. ... that's what's so great about my band now. I can have anything I want. Just much less of it.

Alcohol
HA! I am too lazy to type all that...it was copy and paste! So.....just for you Moscato drinkers. "There are around 780 calories per bottle of Moscato wine."

Anyone have an opinion on Thermogenics?
I ran out of my fav Protein powder, and walgreens didn't have it in stock....so off to the GNC. They had this and the salesperson said he had heard good things about it, (don't they all say that). http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=17905666 I bought a small container and THEN got home and did some reading... seems to be quite a bit of difference of opinion around the use of thermogenic's. The only info I could find on LBT about it was back from a 2006 post... http://www.lapbandta...nic#entry309188 I'm NOT using it for weightloss reasons, just as a pre workout Protein Drink. At 20 grams per 100 calories, its a good choice in that regards. So, anybody else use thermogenic supplements? Anybody KNOW good/bad things about them? I'll ask my surgeon/nutritionist next month when I visit what their opinion is too. I've used it for about two weeks now and am undecided.... Thanks for any advice/opinions!

Exercise needs to become a daily task
Congrats on your amazing success Jim! I read a good article a couple months ago and posted a link to it on here. If I can find it, I'll repost it. It discussed not worrying about some long term fitness goal, but just concentrating on your progress today. If we concentrate on what we do today...the long term goals will come. Heres a quote from it. ""Einstein didn't think he was intelligent, because as his intellect expanded so did his ability to comprehend how much there is to know. Exercise works the same way. As you become fit, you become more aware of higher standards of fitness. Identifying yourself in the scale of being fit can be the cause of depression that will cause you to quit. You must not think about a future state of fitness you want to obtain. You must only think of physical motion in the moment. You must develop sets of physical motion without setting a goal of obtainment. You just do it as a ritual. You don't think about the time involved. You don't become over exhilarated. You just do it." http://drsimpson.net/fitness/aeobics/aerobics.htm

is my band too tight?
You mention sometimes you can sit and eat everything on your plate. Hearing that, I wouldn't think you are too tight, but learning this new restriction level, and new eating habits like chewing more, smaller bites, eating less. How long ago was that last fill you mention? It can take some time for us to adjust...at least it did for me. And some of us don't "eat" breakfast anymore. Of course if in doubt, consult with your doctor. Best wishes.

FIRST FILL- Little Confused
I wouldn't suggest trying to get a fill every week, at least once your close to the green zone. My experience, it took AT LEAST two to three weeks for me to learn the new restriction level. I had to adjust, once I got close. I was EATING too much...too fast. But the band DOES help with this. As far as the band providing restriction..... You'll hear differing OPINIONS about restriction, as should be expected. So here's my experience, after I got to the GREEN ZONE, very similar to what you will find on this site ( http://www.lapband.c...-about-lapband/ )...from the maker of the LAPBAND. 1. The LAP-BAND® System reduces your stomach's capacity, restricting the amount of food you are able to eat at one time. "Restricting the amount of food you are ABLE to eat at one time." BUT, it was not that way until I had adequate restriction...for me. Once I got close, it was a VERY small tweak in adjustment that made a BIG difference. And I've never had an unfill, due to being too tight. Best wishes for your continued success.

Help! Fills
According to your surgeons profile, he has three years of experience..... You say hes using fluoro, so hopefully you'll get there soon. It is not real uncommon to hear folks needing to get to to the higher end of "capacity" of their band....some even have more.

Help! Fills
Hmmm... Look at what you said. 1. You eat small portions, and you feel hungry all day long. 2. No restriction, but you've had so many fills. 3. You don't feel like yor doctor fills you correctly. 4. You eat healthy AND exercise, and "nothing"....no results. Seems its time to get to the green zone, because you are not there now...reading what you wrote. BUT you can get there. I'd have a VERY serious conversation with your doctor about why you are a year and a half post op and not there yet. Maybe a fill using fluoroscopy would help? To make sure all is well with your band, placement, etc. Thats my suggestion. Best wishes...and Never, Ever give up!
-
What's your green zone?
I'm always hesitant to say cc #'s because they really aren't a indication of adequate restriction, speaking from EXPERIENCE. But I completely understand why people ask about CC's.....because, unfortunately, most don't use fluoroscopy on a regular basis. They guess. But the number answer is this: I started to "feel in this zone" about 8.2cc's. And over the last year or so, have tweaked it up 0.2 at a time to where I now am at 9cc's. I think I'm done...I KNOW I'm happy. Pastor O: About 4 seconds into the video you should be able to see the small stream of dark contrast material pass through my band opening.

What's your green zone?
Mine looks like this. It took a while to fine tune it....but so nice now. Hang in there. It gets much better.
-
Pills/Capsules, problems???
I rarely take any meds....but if I need to, I can take a pill the size of a 200mg motrin/advil without much difficulty....just one at a time with some coffee or something.

Tough fills
Hi! All my fills are done using fluoro now. Not really needed for finding my port, but to SEE everything inside. Congrats on getting back to your doctor. Best wishes Heres a link to the post showing what mine looked like. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/173120-heres-what-my-restriction-level-looks-like/
