How much have you lost?
I was told by my nurse this week that the average LB patient loses 50lbs in a years time. That's a lot of weight! Slow is better, so be patient with yourself and ignore the questions. Just tell them you don't weight except for doctor appointments or something to keep them off you. It's all about you anyway....not them. I have lost 50lbs in 12 weeks. With that being said I work my patootie off. I exercise 5 days a week. Belly Dance, Water Aerobics, Treadmill, Eliptical...(need to add weights now). AND....I only eat what is on my list my doctor's office gave me. I do not stray. I have not added bread, pasta or rice to my diet and if I can walk to a destination, I walk. Remember.....everyone is different with the LB and you may be slow out the gate but you will pick up speed. I wish you much joy and love. It's a journey.

Scales - Sometimes its fun being a scale whore, sometimes its disgusting!
Funny that you got a comment from Band_Groupie. I just responded to her as well. You guys know being a woman with hormones that have their own brain makes a difference. Could be one little hormone who is holding you up. Relax, she will jump back in line. Scale Whore....GIGGLE...I needed that laugh today

Did I Over Do It?....Laura Key....12 Weeks Post Op
Did I over do it? I had a fill this past Tuesday. I now have 6cc's in my 10cc band. I was able to eat more than a cup before with 5.5cc and was not hungry between meals. But now with 6cc's I can only take a few bites or a few sips of something. I am not in any pain. I am not PBing or sliming. I do feel tight after a few bites. So I am eating SLOWLY and gently. I am on soft foods until this weekend but I think I may have to stay on soft foods for a few more days. Literally after a few bites I am FULL. And then my throat, tummy makes all these weird noises. Not sure what to think after all this. ________________________________ UPDATE: It's been four days now and I am as tight as can be. I can only get 3 or 4 bites in, then I feel like I have eaten to much. I remember when I had my 2nd fill I was tight for about two weeks, then it's slowly loosened. I am going to try and get through this and if two weeks pass and I still can't get anything down, then see the doctor. On a good note....I've lost the additional 2lbs so I have hit the magic 50lbs!

3rd Fill...Almost 12 weeks...6cc's
Today I had my 3rd fill. I am now at 6cc's. I had pretty good restriction with 5.5cc but I think this is going to do it for me! My doctor's office said I was a rock star! Yes I am tooting my own horn. He said the average lapband patient loses 50lbs in a year and here I am just at 48lbs in almost 12 weeks. Boy....am I proud. I am very happy I have put the work into my band that needed to be done. Next week my new bellydancing classes start! I am also looking into Zumba classes. Variety will help me reach my goal. I love my band!

Things have suddenly picked back up...
Mr. Wilson will be just fine and because you stood firm yet gentle, it kinda made it hard for him to be a hard butt. (smile) Might have lit his lightbulbs too! I wish you much love and happiness

I took a full week off. I am glad I did...because I'd be in mid-sentence and fall asleep! Giggle. I had trouble with the ansthesia too! Welcome to the other side....it's beautiful here

Exercise Motivation Needed
Grab you some fun belly dancing videos! Or...grab some "Walk Away the Pounds" tapes. Those are fun and you can do them from home!

"Restriction, Sweet Restriction"
I am so happy for you! I currently have 5.5cc's in a 10cc band. I have some restriction but I go in for my third fill this coming Tuesday. I have a feeling I am going to be dead on for my sweet spot. Right now I've lost 45lbs in 11 weeks. I don't get hungry between meals but I can eat a little more than a cup. I am very proud of myself. It is a live change and I am loving it. Buying shoes and a few outfits so I can look "fly" while the scale goes down. It feels wonderful and I am glad we can share our joy here!

In this case, the grass has been greener on this side. I am so happy for you and I wish you much luck on this journey! I am loving it!

Week 11 Progress
Well, I dropped a few more pounds. I have now lost a total of 45lbs in 11 weeks. I have been working my butt off (no pun intended) on the treadmill for the last few weeks because I have had clients in the evenings and have not been able to do other things at the gym. My treadmill at home has been my lifesaver. I have kicked up the treadmill routine quite a bit. Lots of inclines and even jogging! Whew! I PB'd for the first time last Sunday. Not fun but it was totally my fault. I was rushing to meet a client and ate too darned fast. It was over in 10 minutes but dang.... I go in for my third fill on August 11th. Not sure I will need many more cc's. Right now I am good. I can eat a little more than a cup but I don't get hungry in between meals. Someone told me in chat that I am already at my sweet spot. So I guess I will discuss that with my doctor next week. My husband has booked our trip to Hawaii at the end of November and I am SOOOOOO looking forward to it. I can see myself walking those beautiful beaches and really not being concerned about my weight. What a freeing thought! I had wonderful Aloha dreams last night. I went shopping last night with a friend and got this ADORABLE outfit that I will be wearing tomorrow. Shopping is FUN now. I try not to buy much since I am going down in sizes. Maybe one or two just for business purposes. I even tried on some really cool shoes. I was shocked to see they fit. Guess my feet are losing weight too. Did not buy them though. Lord I can't pay $69 for some shoes! Maybe later.:frown: I hope to take a good photo of me in it so I can post. I feel better, I look better and I am still very happy I made the decision to be banded.

Does everyone get numbed for a fill?
I got numbed the first time. That nurse did not exactly know where my port was and she poked me a few times so I was glad for the numbing. My second fill, no numbing but that nurse assisted with my surgery so she went straight to it and it was over. No need for numbing. So as long as the assisting nurse is the one filling I am cool!

Life is Good
I just love this post. It's so nice to hear you are doing well and you are cruising along. It's a journey. Spinning your watch is such an accomplishment. I felt that way when I had to switch my rings to my big finger! Life is good and I am so glad you are sharing it with us!

Lunch with Dave, I'm so FRUSTRATED!!!
I was asked the same thing by a friend before I was banded. It upset me too but not because I felt I was a failure but because I felt this person had no right to assume I had no will power. Some of us just have the gene that does not let us know when to stop. Some of it is genes (and I hate people who say that's not a factor) Who knows and who cares. You made this choice for yourself. You are not a failure! No one is good at all things....if we were then what a boring world it will be. We all have our struggles and weight is one we all share in common in this tiny fragment of the internet. The band is a tool. It allows us to feel and get in tune with our body, to grow stronger and healthier. I commend you, I applaud you and most of all I support you! We have a sisterhood and that means the world to me. Now, go on, brush your shoulder off and walk your walk girl!

Monday is D-Day!
I did not have issues with post op pain. I got a body pillow and a heating pad ahead of time and it was nice to have both. I am sure you will be just fine and I am wish you much love and joy!

Going for Gold...Laura Key
I tell you...sometimes being a Realtor will throw your life into frantics. It's been a busy week but I am extremely proud of myself for turning off my phone for an hour a day to exercise and refresh a bit. I kicked up my workout this week and it's kicking my butt in a good way. I did not get to take my water aerobics classes this week but I worked out on my treadmill all week. I added five more minutes for 35 minutes and a five minute cool down. I now jog one minute, then walk with different inclines for four minutes. It switches up just a plain old workout. I also added some arm exercises. I hope to combat some kind of flab. Shoot, I am aiming for "brick house" status by next year. I have dropped a couple more pounds for a total of 42lbs since May 21st. I have not had any issues with stuck foods or foods that I can't eat. I have not added pasta or bread to my diet yet. I don't miss it so I see no reason to add it back just yet. My 3rd fill is scheduled for August 11th. Right now I think I am good with the restriction I have. I have to say, it's been so nice for people to see me and say....WOW. It's a good feeling and the loose clothes are a huge plus. I have a full closet of clothes that need to be taken to consignment. Time for a couple dresses for business and maybe one or two new pairs of slacks. I am not trying to purchase a lot since I won't be in them long. Life is good! OK...this is an edit, just three minutes after my post.....I just PB'd for the first time. I think I ate my lunch to fast. It's not pleasant! Don't want to ever do that again!

Almost one year later..........HUGE difference!
I often think why we feel RNY and the Lapband are like rivals in this forum. It's a decision we all make and I am so happy to see you are doing well and are HAPPY. I am happy for you! Congrats.

Surgery was yesterday. Day 1 is HARD.
Thanks for posting your true experience. Sometimes people hold back on bad things because they want to scare people, but people need to know sometimes not everything is a bed or roses. I truly hope get better from here. My 1st day was rough as well. Not as bad as yours, but I had nausea and before my hubby could get my meds I was heaving. No more after the first day but it was scary! Everyday will be just a little easier!

Sanity vs. Risk
I won't scold or pretend I know better. I just hope everything is going to be ok for you. I was on liquids post op for 14 days but it was liquid/pureeed so if I could puree it then I was ok. Some people have issues with eggs so I hope that is not the case with you.
