  1. I had my surgery on 9/9/09 and I was told to be on clear liquid for 3 days and then start my full liquids for 11 days well the day i started my full liquids I experienced a "dumping" type issue. I had dumping when I had my gallbladder removed and to this day I still have some issues with it, but last night I went to the bathroom 7 times in a 3hour period........liquid poop (gross I know sorry). It's very similar to after my gallbladder removal 3 1/2yrs ago. I am following my diet completely. I just dont understand. They also did the barium liquid stuff on the day I had the surgery and everything was fine. Anyone else had this issue????? Amanda
  2. ONE more thing..........I've lost 9lbs in a week and a half since my bloodwork and being on clear liquids after surgery. Is it safe to say that i'll probably gain a couple of pounds back after switching to full liquids since my belly was pretty much empty for so long???
  3. For anyone that has already had the band surgery..............I am on my full liquid diet now 5day post-op and i'm noticing that my "full" feeling is so totally different from the full feeling I felt prior to being banded. Is this the case for anyone else???? Maybe it's because I'm still so early in my recovery, I don't know. It's not a bad feeling just different.
  4. I too was banded on 9/9/09 and i'm having the same pain, but it's only in one leg, actually it's my calf. It feels like I had a really bad charlie horse maybe and this is the soreness that you get after, thats the only way i can describe it. Should I be concerned if it's in one leg???????
  5. I was banded on 9/09/09!!!! Right now i'm a little sore from gas and my port site which I was told that it would be more sensitive than the other incisions. It's not that bad really, i'm 4days post-op and just ready to get to my full liquid stage which is tomorrow thankgoodness. Today is the first day that i've had a hungry feeling though. I'm so excited to see where this journey takes me. I'm excited to see my husbands reaction in April/May of next year when he comes home from afghanistan. I'm still hoping i'm not the only moron it doesn't work for, hahahahaha. We'll see
  6. well said they up to a week but they are putting me on a full liquid 40gram protein diet for 11days starting tomorrow. I know they are all different i'm not arguing that, my pre op diet was totally different than most. I'm just wondering how long he said no protein???????
  7. well i was told by my doc that after week one you need protein, and with the unjury you can add it to chicken broth so you can still stay on your clear liquid. How long did they say that you had to be on that clear liquid diet??????...........I'm on clear for 3 days then full liquids for 11days then move to purees and so forth.....
  8. You definately need protein..........try unjury unflavored protein powders...........You can add them to Anything
  9. now will it work if i dont add it to the email everytime?????
  10. trying to see if my ticker shows up
  11. congrats on the banding I was banded 9/9/09........the dietician that I had to see gave me a packet that I was supposed to follow in phases............. I was on clear liquid for 3 days then I move to full liquids for the following week and a half which is like protein shakes and yogurt with protein powder and stuff like that (things that can fit through a straw) I will move to purees next then soft solids then solids .

  13. Which pre op diet are you on???? I was on a low carb diet for 13days had to keep carbs under 60 grams and then liquid only for 24hours prior to surgery.
  14. HEY LADIES (and gentlemen, not sure if any guys are in the group) I was banded today at 9:45am!!!! Feeling good just sore, shoulder pain from gas minimal but still annoying. Sorest spot is my port site but I feel like in a week I will feel much better. They gave me liquid hydrocodone for pain. Goodluck to all of you that have surgeries coming up!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I was told Low Sodium V8 juice was good, and also Special K protein water and shakes.
  16. OK.........so I really messed up today. I am on the Low Carb diet for my pre op diet and I am in 7days with 7 days left to go. I am only supposed to have 60grams of carbs or less per day, sounds decent but it's really hard. I went over by 24grams today!!!!!!! I didn't even realize it, but whether I realized it or not doesn't make it OK. Do you think that this one day of mess up is going to affect my liver??? I mean thats the whole point is to burn fat on your liver. I'm so afraid that i'll go in next Wednesday and they will say I'm sorry Mrs.Bryant your liver is too fat come back later. Can I get some opinions??
  17. I am getting more and more anxious about my surgery, thankgod i'm already on Lexapro (hubby is deployed to afghanistan and I have a 16 month old and a just turned 4yr old so thats taking it's toll being with them 24/7 alone, I love them but whew!) anyway thankgod for that or else who knows how the anxiety would be affecting me, lol........September 9th here i come!!!!!! anyway.......i was actually trying to come up with some names for our little september group my sugguestions so far which i don;t know if they are corny or what but all i could come up with was September Superstars or September BandStars I don't get the whole star thing not sure why that was on my mind???? MMMM if anyone has any other suggestions it'd be great to hear them, in the meantime everyone take care I hope we can all faithfully stick to our pre ops, lol.........i'm just LOVING my chicken water, thats what my 4yr old calls it. Does anyone else think that it has a strange aftertaste????? OH and 60 carbs is ok but it's alot less than I thought it'd be. :w00t:
  18. I will have this diet but only for one day the rest is just low carb......however i am planning to do like I did today, eggs with some cheddar cheese for breakfast, no sugar added carnation instant breakfast for Lunch, salad, and chicken broth and a sugar free yogurt for dinner...........
  19. hi ya'll .......I just found out that my date was moved up, I'm so super excited I can not contain myself. It was October 6 now it's Sept 9.............RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER OMG!!!!!! I sure hope that I have a change by the time I go to visit my family for Christmas...........
  20. I am on a low carb diet for the 2 weeks prior to my surgery. They are requiring 60grams or less per day and no calorie limit. I have to do a liquid diet 24hrs prior to the actual surgery but thats all. It doesn't sound as bad after reading some of the other peoples diets.
  21. Luckily I don't have to do the liquid or calorie restricted diet. I just have to eat lean meats, veggies and low carb foods. She asked me not to do anything such as atkins or anything unhealthy that may raise my cholesterol since i'm doing it for a month prior to the surgery. I did however have to do a liquid diet for 4 days prior to having my son, I was on Mag for high bp and it was the chicken broth, popscicle and jello thing and OMG I hated it BUT I did it because I had to do it, no choice, YOU will do the same, this is a decison you made.......to have this surgery, no one is forcing you into it, you've come this far so I have total faith in you that you WILL DO IT because YOU HAVE TO..........this i believe will be the easiest in our journey, we all have bad lifestyle eating changes to overcome. Goodluck girl
  22. I started my process in May and I just got approved on July 30th (it only took 2 days to get my approval back with tricare) My surgery date is October 6th. I wasn't told to lose a specific amount of weight, I had already lost approx 5lbs since I started the process (how I did I have no clue water weight maybe???) I am supposed to start a low carb (65g or below) for two weeks prior to surgery, thats all I was told.
  23. Carrie My surgery date is October 6th. I have known my hubby for almost 16yrs, we're almost 30 now. He's seen me normal, chubby, normal, overweight, then obese. He has probably forgotten what I looked like without this double chin, hahaha. I was joking with him when he called me last week and told him I was going to pick him up from his bus wearing high heels and NOTHING else.......that probably gave him something nice to think about
