  1. YAY!!! Goodluck with everything. I was approved last week, it only took 2 days to get my approval back, I was expecting a couple weeks so I was very excited to hear it. My surgery is October 6th..........My doctor only told me that I had to do a low carb diet of 65grams or less. Those were my only instructions. He is listed with the center of excellence so I am not going to question this but I'm used to hearing liquid only.
  2. one more........I will NEVER AGAIN fear the day that my kids tell me I'm FAT
  3. I will NEVER AGAIN feel my stomach on the tops of my thighs as I'm walking up stairs. I will NEVER AGAIN dread bending over to tie my shoes. I will NEVER AGAIN shy away from Empire waisted tops/dresses because they make me look pregnant. I will NEVER AGAIN keep from doing things with my family because I think people will laugh at me.
  4. i was in a size 16 when I got married almost 6 years ago (in november will be 6yrs) I used to think I was big back then, and now that i'm in a size 22 i'll never think that again if I can get to a 16. I was just approved and my surgery date is October 6th. I keep thinking I'll be ok if I can just get to a 14/16, however there is always that thought that what if I'm the only one this doesn't work for. I'm not worried about the eating part, I've changed all my bad habits for good ones over the last year but with a multitude of other things that have happened the weight just hasn't come off.......at least i've maintained. I just keep thinking there will be some sort of malfunction. I am really hoping to be one hot mama by the time my husband returns from Afghanistan in April 2010. He'll have been gone an entire year by the time I see him again, and although he can't keep his hands off me as it is, I still just want to be sexier for him or at least confident enough to do it with the lights ON when he wants hahahaha
  5. I was told that if you have to lift any children over 15lbs then to try and have someone there to help you a few days. I just got approved on Friday (YAY!!!) and I have a 4yr old and a 15month old that weighs 19lbs.......so my grandma and aunt are coming to help me for the week after. The 4yr old will be in preschool most of the day though.
  6. sorry didnt mean the eyerolling face meant smiley:smile2:
  7. well im glad i already meet the standard:rolleyes2:
  8. I just did the elbow measurement test, just as it said to do it and my elbow is seriously almost 4 1/2 inches.......the bones, I could clearly feel them, thats NUTS
  9. That's awesome!!! Congratulations!!!
  10. we are in camp lejeune............and greenville, and wilmington are the only two places that have practicing surgeons for this surgery. They didnt' have any openings for me on base to be seen at the naval clinic, i'm sure that has to do with us not living on base since we bought a house. I am being seen out in town so I can't do my stuff on base, and the base doesn't have a nutrional counselor or dietician that is familiar with the pre and post op diet for lap band patients. My insurance is the normal I was referred to a pcm out in town because there was no room for me at the NHCCL................so i'm stuck. My surgeon works with specific dieticians that are in his clinic and the Chrysalis Center primarily for counselling so I guess these are my only options.............it just SUCKS, lol but i'll be happy after surgery
  11. I'm so frustrated i'm almost ready to give up on the process. This is taking so long and hard to find daycare for my 2 kids while my husband is in Afghanistan..........These are the steps I have to complete: PCM, get referral (completed) see surgeon for consult (completed) Dietician Appt. #1 (Completed) Dietician Appt. #2 Nutritional counseling #1 Nutritional counseling #2 EKG (completed) Chest X-Ray H.Pylori Blood test(completed) 2nd Surgeon consult wait for referral to come back then surgery, hopefully I still have 5 more things to do, and they don't have anywhere near me that does it so I have to drive to Wilmington, NC to go to these appts. and get these things done....thats a 2hr roundtrip on top of my appt. so it's like a 4hr ordeal almost each time. They better approve me after all this aggravation............gas is NOT cheap.
  12. It may not be tricare, but the surgeon that or even your PCM may require that before they will give you a referral for a surgeon consultation. It's different for everyone. My pcm gave me the consult immediately, then he needs me to do 2 dietician, 2 nutritional counselings, 1 support group at the hospital, then tricare requires an EKG, bloodwork, & chest xray.........
  13. My husband is extremely supportive, however I do have some questioning family members. They are supportive but they are kind of weird about it, my grandma almost seems embarrassed that she has a granddaughter that needs a weight loss intervention. I brought all of my information when I went to see them on a recent trip but no one really seemed interested in looking at it, or talking about it. It kind of sucks that way, but I know that even if they don't understand it and really dont seem to want to TRY to understand it they still support me.........I think they are just scared at the surgery aspect. Maybe your husband is just scared but doesn't want you to know that he is
  14. "Tossing your salad" is an expression for "licking your anus" There are LOTS of nerve endings around that area so i'm gonna raise my hand and say YES, I do like it and I like to do just about anything within reason with my husband that I trust. The only things that I would not do is anything involving someone else, I'm just NOT into bringing a 3rd party to our "party".............I'm selfish
  15. Well I got the call from the bariatric appointment lady at the surgeons office.............They have classes every other tuesday...SOOOOOO...........They pick 7people and we are seen individually then we go to a class together. She did a phone screening with me to see if I qualify, and I do. Problem is they dont' have anything available til the end of MAY!!! Then she said it could take up to 4months........i was really hoping for a sooner procedure but I guess I should be happy that i am getting it..........My hubs is going to Afghanistan in March and i wanted to lose some before he got home and suprise him with my new bod, LOL. Oh well...........
  16. well keep us posted on how things go with you..........i wish you the best of luck. I know that personally for me, I feel like this is my only hope at help since nothing else I seem to be doing is working.............i'll keep my fingers crossed for you:cool2:
  17. I believe there is just a general chart that they use that goes by your height............I **should** be between 124-138, for my frame and height. I believe they look at bone frame too..........here is a chart at Height and Weight Chart - Women, Men, and Teens ? Height / Weight Tables ? Recommended Weight for Males and Females. This should give you a GENERAL idea. I'm 262 so I know at 5ft4 without a doubt i'm 100lbs over......lol. No question for me..........Have you talked to your doctor yet??? Is this something you are researching????
  18. I would definately think so...............are you 100lbs over weight
  19. it all depends on how people get their orgasms...........some people only have clitoral and some are able to have ones from their G-spot. I have never had a Gspot orgasm...........my husband has tried feverishly to find it but to no avail, lol. It's ok with me though............
  20. Well, i'm new to the topic in question...........hi. lol. My husband and I have known eachother since we were 15. We tried this (meaning he tried it during a doggy style session without my permission) when we were like 17/18 and he didn't have a clue as to what he was doing and lets just say it ended with me screaming something about a broom up his ass and me crying and I left. Fastforward about 8yrs........now married. We tried it again, (this time I knew it was coming, lol) and it felt a little odd but after trying a couple more times I liked it more and more..............i've only ever done it with him, and he's only ever done it with me. We enjoy it on occassion, it's not something we do all the time and it's a great alternative when i'm on my period..........:tt2: a little TMI but it's great when I "sit" on him and have a silver bullet in front, amazing :tt2:
  21. Well I found out what happened.........tricare approved me for a surgeon that DOES NOT do the surgery. Go figure right? I talked to my PCM and she said that not many people around here do it, and thats it's still relatively new around here and NO ONE in jacksonville, NC does it at all. I have to go to Wilmingon or Greenville.........and I think greenville is in SC if i'm not mistaken but there may be a greenville nc. Anyway, she is having the referral specialist fix it today and they will give me a call. She thinks I'm a perfect candidate for the surgery.........BTW they checked my thyroid (since I haven't taken mine in a couple months, big mess anyway) and my thyroid was 30........30!!! so any of you that know anything about TSH levels know that's HORRIBLE.........hopefully i wont feel so drained after I start my new dose today How is everyone coming along that has been banded recently?????? Anyone having problems??? I hope all is well, and FYI they have some cute icons on photobucket for lapbanders!!!!
  22. OK, so I called tricare north this morning to check on my referral........and they said my referral was approved for up to 5 visits with another doctor. I don't understand. I thought that my pcm put in the referral for the lap band surgery. I'm so confused.
  23. Well, the doctors office called me back and discussed a little about my thyroid and lipid panel. I already know I have hypothyroid, but I haven't been very good at taking my thyroid pill in the last 2 or 3 months. We've been getting ready for a move then home for christmas for 3weeks then actually moved and have been remodeling for approx 4wks. So needless to say I've done badly. My thyroid is off the charts apparently......or "really really really bad" is what the nurse on the phone said.........and my cholesterol is 278. I already have an appt. on Wednesday.....she said that my doctor would discuss things in more detail then but for now i should buy some fish oil. She said that I should loose some weight, WELL DUH!!! I went in for a lapband consult, no shit, I know I need to loose weight. I'm sure the lady on the phone didn't know that though............I just keep thinking this is a bad sign and they are going to tell me that they are going to stop the referral process or that I need to wait 6months to have the surgery......I can't wait........hubby is going to Afghanistan in May........and no one else is able to help me take care of our kids while I have the surgery. Geeez I hope she doesn't tell me that..............
  24. So I've talked to tricare and my paperwork has been received but still pending............hopefully i'll know something by Wednesday, they told me to call back at 7am..............I totally forgot Monday was a holiday.
  25. I'm currently awaiting insurance approval. I should know by Monday **Fingers crossed** I have told my mom, grandma, and a few close friends. I only have one friend that doesn't really agree with it......I think mainly cuz her sister lost about 150lbs on her own (which is wonderful of course) but not everyone has the same situation. She supports me because we are very good friends for 18yrs (since we were 11:scared2:), but she wishes I would do it another way........at least I have her support as a friend even if she doesn't agree..........everyone else has been VERY supportive........my friend Jessica stopped me mid-conversation and bluntly told me "Amanda, you have absolutely NO reason to justify your choice to me, you don't need to justify it to anyone........this is a choice that you have made to make a healthier & happier you and thats all I care about is for you to be happy.......you are my friend and i'm here for whatever you need" it really brought tears to my eyes. I sure hope that I'm banded soon!!!!
