  1. I agree, I think it's a decision each person has to make for them selves and them live with it. I went to Mexico because they had so much experience, over 6000 bands and then the price and it went wonderful and I have Dr. Curry for fills and any problems but had I known about Dr. Curry before hand I would have paid more and went to him just because he is tops too. Good luck. I paid 8500 for everything.
  2. I was 145 pounds and 5'8" tall my first 38 years of life. Then after 3rd degree burns, back surgery, neck surgery, and foot surgery I gained 100 pounds. I had it on me for 4 years and then decided to get banded. BC/BS would have covered me but, they needed the 6 month supervised diet and I was too impatient so I just took money out of savings and went to Mexico, but other than that it was not going to be any trouble I just didn't want to wait. If I can help you with anything pm me and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Good luck.
  3. I regret not doing it sooner but never have I regretted getting my band. I love it and wouldn't take anything for it.

My surgeon charges 8500 for everything and was doing a spring special where it's just 7500 and he's done over 6000 of them and it includes everything, and free fills for life.
  5. I went to Vanderbilt too for the seminar but when I found out they hadn't done as many bands I went to Mexico to Dr. Sanchez because he'd done over 6000. My cost was 8500.00 for everything and fills for life. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I'm in Nashville every week.
  6. Wow, I'm glad my surgeon used glue, that sounds painful. Hope your doing well.
  7. Mine didn't require because he said to get any really good effect from preop diet you would have to be on it at least 6 weeks so he didn't require any and I was at 270 and 5'8" and my liver was fine. I guess they're just all different. Congrats and good luck on your upcoming surgery.
  8. I had never had laproscopic before but mine was a breeze. I had no problems at all and very, very, little pain and didn't need anything for pain. I take loritabs about 4 a day from back surgery and they're fairly large so I'd think you'd be fine. Good luck on your surgery.
  9. Yes, After you pick which one you want and it goes to the last page, go to the first one, copy and paste from the word img to img, then right click and copy, then go to user cp on here and go to edit signature and then paste it on there and then click save and viola. PM me if you have any trouble. Good luck.
  10. Thanks for all of your advice. Yes, I'm exercising, and trying to do more everyday, and drinking water. It's like I got here and now I'm done. I still need to loose 50 pounds. I emailed Dr. Curry today to ask his opinion since he's my doctor, maybe he has a clue. I do still get hungry but I've had 5 fills and it is hard to believe with 2.7cc's in 4cc's band that I'm not full enough.
  11. I'm so sorry you've had such a horrible day. Your sister, that is awful, but don't keep beating yourself up. I hope that you find a bigger, better job where your appreciated. Again I'm very sorry and hope you and your sister can patch things up if that's what you want but try to keep your chin up, it will get better. We're all here for you.
  12. I have had my band for 8 months. I lost 60 pounds the first 6 months, now nothing. I have had 5 fills and am up to 2.7cc's in a 4cc's band. I guess I have good restriction and I'm eating maybe 1000 calories a day and about 30 g of protein is about all I can get in and I haven't lost an ounce and in fact have gained 4 pounds for the first time since surgery that I've gained anything. My last fill was 4 weeks ago and I just don't know what to do????? I am beginning to think my band is done working. Any suggestions at all?
  13. Mine don't seem to last very long and I don't think I've ever been tight enough yet, too scared.
  14. My doc says it's fine in moderation and I have about 1 a week and absolutely no problems from it. To each his own I guess.
  15. I see Dr. Curry and he is fabulous. He's 5 hours each way from me but more than worth it. He has excellent bedside manner and is a doll, you'll love him. Why not check out his website. I don't know how far he is from you but he is very experienced and knows what he's doing. www.thebanddoctor.com
  16. I'm so sorry and I know that this makes your healing that much worse and yes, it's even harder when you can't make things better like you use to and eat your way through it. But, It WILL get better and you will make it through this. PM me or anyone would be glad to talk you through this as best as we can. Take a long hot bath, and just try to be good to yourself through all of this. Things will get better. Your in my thoughts and prayers.
  17. OMG, You did fabulous. Pat yourself of the back and congrats of the baby boy. I'm a Granny of one and just found out we have another on the way so I'm all into babies. I wouldn't think you'd have to wait at all since you didn't just have surgery. Good luck and congrats again.
  18. None for me and I ask my surgeon before surgery if they put one in and just took it out while I didn't know about it and he said no that it was too short of a surgery as for him. I think very very few do.
  19. I Just wanted to welcome you and tell you I too didn't need anything for pain and was up and doing everything I had always done on day 4 and riding 4 wheelers all day on day 9 or 10 so don't let his pain scare you. It was much easier than my root canal, seriously. If you have any questions about before, during, or after surgery, although you have been through it basically first hand please feel free to pm me with any questions you might have. I wish you all the luck in the world and you will be in my thoughts. Hope you hubby is doing well.
  20. I agree, I have the 9.75cm inamed lowpro band and it hold's 4cc's plus my surgeon said they will actually hold almost double if need be and I have 2.7 in mine right now.
  21. Hi everyone, Sounds like everyone is doing great. Boy, those pictures of you guys are great, and 97 pounds down, that is sooooo wonderful you should be patting yourself of the back, in fact, turn around and I'll do it for you. Hi ready2bthin, Beth, Steph, DonnaMarie, Chris and everyone else that I have forgot. Boy, I've learned my lesson and no more politics talk for me. wow, that was intense, lol. Well, I'm glad I still have my July friends. I'm still not losing any so I called Dr. Curry back again today and he still thinks I need maybe .2 more. Boy, this is getting expensive. I figured up today I have over 15,000.00 in this baby and have only lost around 60 pounds and none in 2 months. I've been a bad girl. I'm really and truly not eating much but I guess for one thing I'm not exercising much because it hurts my back so bad and I'm not drinking my water, I know, bad girl. I really, truly, vow to do better. I have that new grandbaby on the way so I do need to trim up. My 19 month granddaughter keeps me very busy and these babies are going to be 24 months apart to the day if she has it on her due date, boy. Just wanted to say hi and that I'm not going to let them run me off at least on this thread anyhow and wish for everyone a huge loss this week. Love you all, Sherri
  22. I'm a Mexican patient and didn't have to loose or have any preop diet so I can't be of any help that way but don't be so hard on yourself. Your not perfect and you don't have your band yet. I'm sure your doc will still do your surgery and after surgery just know that the diet your on after surgery is very important for proper healing so make sure and try hard afterwards. My thoughts and prayers are with you but it really is a very simple surgery and I didn't have any downtime.
  23. 150.00 and I'm selfpay. With fluro it's 200.00 more but he can hit mine first time with out fluro.
  24. I went to Mexico and Dr. Zapata is wonderful. There are several good ones there. I lost 50 pounds the first 6 months and just love my band. Good luck with your decision.
  25. Don't give up just yet, maybe everyone on here can put our heads together and can come up with something that could help. I too had bc/bs and so I had to self pay and they don't even pay for any fills, fluro, nothing and I've been out about 15k so far. I wiped our savings account out and we're in the middle of building a house so it will take longer now to finish it. What about 2nd mortgage or capital one health loan, it was at 2 percent. My surgery in Mexico was just 8500.00 with free fills for life and it's 7500.00 all this month. Pm me if I can help you any and good luck.
