  1. Yeah, I was self pay and went to Monterrey Mexico and it was just 8500.00 for absolutely everything and right now they're doing a special for 7500.00. I had to take out of savings and I didn't have the 23000.00 they wanted here plus here I checked with 4 different hospitals and the most anyone had done was less than 500 and my surgeon had done over 6000. I wish I knew something to help you. Keep trying though and don't give up.
  2. Okay, I know it's not the best thing in the world but I complained about slowed up weight loss got .3 fill last week and God, about all I can do is drink but I can get my liquids down. Late in the evening I can sometimes get a little bit of food down. I'm not going to rush and get an unfill as it's took 7 fills to get here 11 hour drive for fills and thousands and thousands of dollars. Anyone have any good ideas of foods that will go down when your very tight.
  3. Pb- Productive burp, it's actually throwing up what ever is stuck but it's not like throwing up before surgery it just like spitting it up. t.o.m. time of the month, usually really tight around this time.ICBINb-I can't believe it's not butter sprayDH - Dear hubbyDD- Dear DaughterDS- Dear SonFYI-for your informationBTW- By the wayThere is just a few.
  4. First of all I would not have worried and been scared, was such a simple operation. Second, I would have done it 5 years ago when I first heard about it. Thirdly, I would have gotten a little more in each fill instead of inching my way through.
  5. Alex, You will be in my thoughts and prayers and I'm adding you to our church's prayer list if that's okay. I pray the surgeon will be well rested, and steady hand and repair or replace your's for you. Congrats on the 30 BMI, that's great. For all of us that know you but worry about a slip as well, are there any signs you can give us to be aware of? Take care and good luck.
  6. Dr. Curry uses fluro the first 2 or 3 times and then he hits it first time and takes about 10 seconds so I don't need fluro. He charges 150.00 and is Cinci, Ohio. 11 hour drive for me but he's worth it.
  7. I had my surgery in Monterrey Mexico and although my fills are free for life there I prefer Dr. Trace Curry. It's a 11 hour round trip for me but worth every minute of it. I've had six fills with him and they are 150.00 each. He's in Cincinatti Ohio.
  8. As of yesterday I now have 3.00 cc's in my 4cc's mini lowprofile port. It took me 6 fills to get here so it's took a while and boy oh boy do I have restriction. If this isn't my sweet spot then I don't have one, lol.
  9. Welcome, It sounds like you've done so great. It is so great to hear from such a gregarious person and would love to see your before and after pics. Congrats again on such a wonderful job.
  10. Usually I stay for a night or two to make sure everything is okay but tonight I felt so good I thought I would get my fill and turn right around and drive the 5 1/2 hours home. I had gained 9 pounds last month the week of flo and couldn't loose it. It was the first gain since surgery so I weighted and I had lost that 9 and 4 more for a total of 13, I was so proud. I still got a fill, I was at 2.7cc's and luckily it was all still there and he ask me how much Iwanted and I said take me to 3 cc's. I have the 4 ccs band but didn't know until tonight it was the mini, low profile band. I really feel this one will do it because I already had good restriction but I still need to loose 50 pounds so maybe this will jump start it. Dr. Curry is the greatest. I got there almost 2 hours early and they took me back within 5 min. and the fill took 2 min. and didn't feel a thing. If anyone is ever looking for a fill doctor who will also do Mexican patients as a I am he is the one.
  11. Rock, you really rock, I love reading your posts and I laughed my azz off at that one.
  12. Mine was 8500 in Mexico and that was for everything from start to finish and free fills for life. My surgeon has trained most US Surgeons and all of them in Houston and had done more than 6000 bands so I really feel I had a great doc and everything went great. The hospital was beautiful and so was Monterrey.
  13. The new Special K protein waters are good and they have 5 grams of protein per drink and they're water with flavoring. I've got the strawberry/kiwi and it's very good.
  14. I went for 2 months without losing after losing 60 pounds the first 5 months. My surgeon told me to try 900 calories a day, 1 gallon of water per day, 80 g protein per day, 120 carbs per day and exercise and now in the past 2 weeks I've lost 10 pounds. You might could give that a try and see if it helps, it sure did me.
  15. My surgeon said it was fine and I drink one occasionally and before surgery I would drink 8 regular cokes a day but just don't care for them much anymore. I had to go the first 6 months after surgery without and just don't like them much now.
  16. Hi everyone, mysherrijo here, new name. Sounds like everyone is doing great. I finally after not losing an ounce for 2 months and gaining 8 pounds, (first gain since surgery) started really watching what I was eating lost the 8 pounds and 2 more so finally 10 pound loss. I am scheduled for a fill Thursday but not real sure if I'm going to get it. I've already got 2.7cc's in a 4cc's band so I'm trying to really pace myself. Heck, I've already had 5 fills. Glad to see everyone doing great, and congrats Chris, Edie, DonnaMarie and everyone.
  17. Same here, they gave me something before surgery and then something in recovery. Just tell them ahead of time. Good luck on your upcoming surgery.
  18. Welcome and if I can answer any questions for you please feel free to pm me. I have been banded since July 06, lost about 60 pounds or so and have about 40 more to go. I love my band.
  19. You've came to the right place. Most everyone on here have been banded or are getting ready to be banded. We'll try to answer any questions you might have just ask on and welcome to.
  20. That was too cute.
  21. I agree. I have no tolerance for pain and at this time I take 6 loritabs per day for my neck and back. Had neck and back surgery and still have 2 ruptured discs and after surgery I had liquid loritab that my pcp prescribed for me so I would have something to take after surgery. My script was for 5 huge bottles. I got one filled and never even needed it. I take pain medicine now but didn't need any for the lapband surgery.
  22. I just wanted to congratulate you lapbandit. You've done an awesome job and you need to pat yourself on the back. Just noticed your weight loss and it's wonderful.
  23. My doc says no soda for 6 months too. He has been doing these for a long time and says there is just not enough evidence of pouch stretching but I just don't care for it now. Before surgery I would drink at least 6 reg. cokes a day but quit them cold turkey the day of surgery and just don't want them anymore.
  24. Go to Dr. Curry. I have free fills and can fly back to Mexico for 250.00 bucks but I drive 5 hours each way to see him and it's 150.00 for fills. It's well well worth the drive. He has such wonderful bedside manner, very skilled at bands, fills, and bypass surgery and is a sweetheart as well. I highly recommend him.
