  1. I was a twice a dayer morning and before bed. Sometimes an occasional surprise. I've gone twice since surgery (9 days ago) I asked my doc at my followup and he said not to worry, a lot less is going in so a lot less will come out. Made since to me. I will hate being constipated though. I usually sit down do my business and I'm done. It usually doesn't take me any longer to poo than it does to pee.

  8. Hey It is amazing who so many of us feel this way. I could have wrote this myself. Back in 2005 I went through the whole process of getting the band only to be turned down 3 months into it. I was having those exact feeling then but I still wanted it so badly. Well since I had those feeling about maybe I should have tried to lose weight before I try surgery I decided that I would do it on my own. I lost 40 lbs yeah me!!!! I went from 236 to 195 and was feeling awesome. I was 38 and 1/2 and it took me about 8 months to loose that. By that time I got to that weight I was approaching 40. Well when that hit me I decided I wanted to lose another 20 lbs before I hit the big 40! The only problem was that the scale started going the other way. I was beside my self. I didn't want to , couldn't gain weight back. I was feeling great and didn't want to go back to where I had just came from. Well despite my attempts to continue to lose I ended up gaining 30 back. I had a thought maybe my insurance was now covering the lap band. Well yeah they where. After saying all that...Even this time I was saying to myself do I really need surgery to do this? I still went through all the emotions you mentioned above. Even after surgery I was questioning why did I do this. Even when I just had the answer. It is just a tool. It is still up to us to make it work, and I have to keep telling myself that. If I think the band will do all the work, I will fail. I was talking to my sister who is very over weight and she like to garden so I used this analogy. I asked her if she would rather garden with her bare hands or have a small spade to help her do he work. She preferred using the tool to help her get the job done. Yeah she could do it with just her bare hands, it would take her a lot longer, and she may give up along the way because it's just to much work. Using the spade will still take work but it will be much easier.
  9. good luck to everyone having surgery tomorrow! I did not have a fill and am not scheduled to get one until June 16th. I was hoping for sooner! I had surgery May 6th. I'm down 9 lbs in just 1 week!
  10. Wow Cyndi! Sounds like you have your hands full with your 17 month old. Congrats on getting through the surgery.! My doc mad me wash with soap before bed and again in the morning as well, I had not ever heard of anybody doing that before. Yeah changing sheets at midnight? That's a little crazy. You didn't mention much about pain I hope that means your doing great! I Hope you are doing well too KELLSTER!
  11. I went for my 1 week followup appointment and got my staples out Yeah! I have to admit I was a little nervous about it. They only ones that hurt coming out are the ones where my port incision is. It didn't hurt that much just stung a little bit. I didn't even feel the others come out. Here is the awesome news! I'm down 9lbs since surgery day, and 13lbs since my pre-op appointment! Never ever ever in my intire life have I lost 9 lbs in 1 week!!!! I know that is not something that will happen from here on out I here 2 lbs a week is average. That is my goal. I hope everyone else is having good if not better results than me. I talked to 2 girls at the doctors office that had the same surgery date as me and they where down 11, and 13 lbs awesome!!! The surgeon and dietician said I can start solids today (cottage cheese, string cheese, eggs, refried beans) as long as it is soft and soft Protein only! Yeah!!!!!
  12. Congrats John! I'm glad to finally hear from you! Sounds like you are doing great! I wasn't really hungry either. I pretty much just had 3 shakes to get my protein in and sips of water throughout the day. The 1st 3 days are the toughest then it gets better every day! Beware of head hunger it's an evil thing. (not really hungry but want to eat!) I'm doing so much better with that.
  13. I have staples and makes me look like frankenstein! I hope it doesn't hurt when I get them out! My post op is today, so we will see!
  14. I think you are not getting much response to this because when you are on Clear Liquids there is not alot of options. If you like tea you might try some flavored teas. I mostly just drank my shakes and Water. Some one had suggested on here once to get some egg drop Soup and strain the eggs. I did this but found it way to salty, but you could water it down. You could also try wonton soup. You might go to Arby's and see if you could buy some Au Jus, some restaurants sell french onion soup (you would have to strain the onions) Full liquids are a little easier I was able to start them on day four and is what I am on now. Here is a list from my surgeons offfice Liquid Protein V-8 Diet Splash Strained thinned cream Soups (this has given me the most variety) Lowfat yogurt thinned Skim milk and of course the other clear liquids. I know it's difficult but you can do it! The thing that helps me is find something to occupy your mind TV didn't work for me very well, too many tv commercials. I cruised the internet and read as much as I could got out side just to get out of the house.
  15. Hey Mac and Ann, what about creamed Soups? I've been having those and adding Protein powder and have been doing pretty good. I thought I had oatmeal in the cupboard but was mistaken. I was going to put that in my bullet to thin it some more, but since I didn't have the oatmeal I tried something else. Here's what I had... I pureed a 1/4 of a banana with just a tiny bit of milk, added
  16. I would like to hear from others as well, I just had surgery on May 6th and would like to see some results of others post- op only. You are doing awesome! I hear some don't lose at all but gain until they get their 1st fill. Looks like you are right on target at 2 lbs a week. Which is what I would love to shoot for. Plus your skin will thank you!
  17. Everyday has been better and better:thumbup:. The most difficult thing will be HEAD hunger. I was never really hungry but all I could think about was all the food I couldn't have. FYI that gets better too. Key is to occupy your mind as much as possible. And change the channel when commercials come on! It just goes to show you how much different we all are. You didn't have much pain at all but couldn't get any Water down, while I was saying hitting me with the pain meds every time they asked. I went through 2 styro foam cups of water in a half hours time. My mouth was dry and I couldn't get those "sips" in fast enough. Do you know if your doc put a small fill in your band? Some do and some don't. Mine did not, that might make a difference. So be sure to be sweet to your wife if she's not a big strong man like you. She could be a sissy like me. I din't start sleeping in bed until last night (4 nights after surgery)
  18. It's great to finally hear form you! I think Amy is right on. Even though I had mentally prepared myself for all this, it wasn't until I had the surgery that it became 100% real, no backing out, changing my mind or anything and I think everyone or most of us anyway go through a bit of morning period. I feel beth mentally and physically better each day!
  19. The unjury doesn't give it a weird texture but it does seem to make whatever I put it in thinner. YOU CAN DO IT!
  20. Hi all, I can't really saying I've been hungry, but head hunger has been a big pain to deal with. I just want to eat for the sake of eating. Today I get to start having things other than broth and Clear liquids, yeah!!! I was mostly just having 3 slim fast shakes a day and as much Water as I could get down. I found if I drank juices it would just stimulate my appetite and make me feel sick or hungry. I bought some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chocolate, vanilla, and unflavored powered whey Protein isolate to make shakes with. supplements for Everyday Health! High Protein and High Quality. I haven't actually made any shakes with them yet, but instead I am finding myself just adding a scoop to whatever I am having at the time. My slim fast only had 10 grams of protein in it, so I would just add another scoop to my shake making it 30 grams of protein in stead of 10 so just 2 of those a day would give me 60 grams of protein. Today for Breakfast I had 4oz of yogurt and 1 scoop of vanilla powered protein which gave me 24 grams of protein For lunch I will have some tomato Soup with 1 scoop of unflavored protein which will give me another 20 grams It's really cool:thumbup: to be able to add protein to your meals. Unjury is awesome!!!! If I was to only buy 1 to try it I would start with the unflavored it really does not change the flavor of what you are eating. 2nd choice would be vanilla because you can add it to almost anything sweet, then if you want chocolate flavor just add a little bit of cocoa. I am beginning to think I can do this with the help of UNJURY!!!!
  21. Drinking is pretty easy for me too, and I feel like there is nothing I can't eat, but I'm not taking any chances so I'm sticking to my surgeon's diet. Starting today (Day 4) I can now have the following in addition to my water juice and protein shakes.... V-8 Juice or Tomato Juice Diet Splash Strained thinned cream soups (without meat or veggies) Low fat yogart I have found it very easy to get my protein in today by adding unjury powered protein to my yogurt, and I'll probably add some non flavored protein powder to my soup today. On day 8 (only 4 more days) I can start having mushies.... I can't wait!!!!
  22. Thanks John, Tomorrow is the Big Day Hooraay! You'll be in my thoughts!
  23. It's finally great to hear some stories and welcome to the other side! You are all doing great! The pain does get better each day and I haven't been real hungry, but I do have to admit my head hunger has been horrible. Just trying to get through 1 day at a time. We can do this though! Good luck!
  24. Sounds really good, but until day 4 post op which is tomorrow I can only clear liquids, (juice, sf jellow, broth) and as many protein shakes as I can tolerate days 4-7 I can add v-8 juice diet splash, cream soups, milk and yogart yeah! I can't wait until tomorrow!!!!! I can have cottage and string Cheese on day 8.
  25. My surgery was on May 6th and am not liking this clear liquids thing at all. My surgeons office called the day after surgery and I asked them about the clear liquids phase and I was told I cold have sugar free Jello, sf juice, sf popsicles, and broths. They also said I could have as many Protein shakes as I could tolerate and to sip on them through out the day. I have been sipping on Protein Shakes and Water through out the day, but the broths are salty and make me cough, which I would rather not do, and the juice and other things make me hungry. I keep telling myself I can get through this, I and I know I can, but I also go through periods of "What the heck did I do!!!!!"
