So today I went in to the hospital to have my Echo Stress done. Technician says everything looks great will meet with the Dr on May 3 and have my final nutritionist appt on May 8. The Bartric Coors say I'm looking at probably the middle of June

My pre-op was 2 shakes 2 Protein Bars and one small meal. I lost 16 lbs that week and we ate at Applebees. I just ate small amounts.
    Good luck!

Thanks, Gabybab. Mine is a liquid, so no worries there. Did you have ulcers?

gabybab reacted to ms.sss in (ms.sss) 6 Month Post-op Update
I had gastric sleeve surgery on October 24, 2018.
So that makes today my 6 month post op anniversary.
It's been a crazy experience so far, this weight loss surgery thing. I am still amazed sometimes at how much my life has changed for the better.
I started off at 235 lbs on Oct 10, 2018 (start of my 2wk pre-op liquid diet) and am now 138.1 lbs, which means I lost 96.9 lbs (or 41% of my TOTAL body weight) since October 10th. Crazy.
Went from a BMI of 43.2 (morbidly obese) to 25.4 (almost a normal 25!)
    Chest-Waist-Hips measurements (in inches) went from 48 - 431/2 - 491/2 to 35 - 29 - 361/2
Off all prescription meds, no longer pre-diabetic nor do I have a fatty liver anymore. And Mr. is so very happy that I stopped snoring (like a freight train, apparently) the day after surgery.
I feel stronger, more confident, more energized and more.....AWESOME.
Of course there are some downsides:
Alot of my hair has fallen out (but I *think* it has stopped and new teeny hairs seem to be spouting...but this may just be wishful thinking lol) My arms are pretty saggy. Though I am already shopping around for surgeons to get this fixed, hopefully by the fall. I am trying to wean myself off of my PPI and it is proving to be an unpleasant task. I've only been at it for a week and a bit, so I'm still holding out hope that it will turn around soon. I have a love-hate relationship with my toilet as far as pooping goes. But for the record, I would still do this all again in a heartbeat.
I am more than pleased with my progress so far and credit it with the following:
** Disclaimer: the following works for ME, and may not jive with others' way of doing things...**
Tracking and recording EVERYTHING I eat and drink Weighing myself every morning (and track fat, lean body mass percentages) Take my body measurements once a week Try to get 70g of Protein a day (don't always make this) Drink at least 2.5 litres of Water a day Keep net carbs to less than 20g per day Go to bed on an empty stomach Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep at night (don't always make this either) Exercise of some form or another for at least 1 hour every day ...and when I can, get said exercise in before I have my first meal of the day. I had already surpassed my doc's projected goal for me back in January, and I am about 18 lbs from my own personal goal and am pretty excited about it , though I may be more excited about getting rid of these bat wings.

Yes it is a chore and struggle you had surgery 3 days before me. I’ve set alarms to remind me to eat but sometimes it works . If I’m not hungry I cannot force myself to eat. Good luck It might take some time to get a routine

I'm not sure if I have binge eating disorder, but I ate an awful lot at night. That seems silly to put off approving you. You will definitely not be able to binge ear afterwards.
I Hope you get approved soon!

It's been a minute since I updated anything, but here it is! I am now in a size 5...never thought I would be in that size without a 2 in front of it!!! Still trying to cope with the reflection in the mirror, because she's so foreign to me still. I have moments of just being down, because I no longer look the same. I miss some of the physical attributes I used to have. I feel like i'm in middle school again when I look at myself...flat chested once again (never thought that would happen). Contrary to the hype...SQUATS DON'T WORK (I lost that attribute as well)!!! On the good side...i'm much healthier and now have a normal BMI and have much more energy. So all in all, even though I have had some struggles and dealt with some stomach issues throughout this journey...i'm still happy with the decision I made to go through with it.
I want to say thank you, to those of you that have been so supportive and have been following my progression with me️

Whaaaa? How do they know if there's a problem without labs? lol. You could have a Vitamin deficiency without any symptoms (like I did with Vitamin D).

My PA told me they only do labs if there is problems. I'm like what? Will probably insist at my 6 month checkup. Love my PA though.

I got the call!!!! I’m APPROVED!!!! Thank God I have stuck to my pre-op liquid diet this whole time!!! It’s so real now! I’m so ready to start this new chapter in my life. If anything’, this pre-op diet definitely put me in the right mindset. Watching everyone Celebrate on Easter with tons of food and alcohol didn’t even bother me at all because I wanted this more then anything!!! This is why I know I’m going to take this tool/gift I’m given and do everything I can to succeed!

Try the Protein Shake thinned out with milk. I only tolerated it ice cold initially. Maybe just try Fairlife milk and see if that is tolerable and work up to the shakes?
What about Soups? I was allowed low fat cream of chicken, mushroom etc. but I had to strain the pieces out. Maybe try that. I would only do 2 tablespoons, wait an hour, try 2 more etc. Otherwise maybe low sugar yogurt, it can be flavored but not chunks of fruit.

I remember going to my first OA meeting and coming down the steps and telling my friend I thought they all had way more problems than me and I didn't need it. I was about 230 and moved out of state. I went on to gain another 100 pounds, so obviously my problem was just as bad.
OA Is a good program and has helped many people. I have seen first hand.
    Good luck!

I know it is really frustrating. They told me they had to put it in Dr Anwar's desk for approval as well.
It seemed I would never have surgery and now I'm two months post-op.
I'm sorry it is taking so long, I know the frustration. Hopefully your voice mail will get then to do something and schedule you!
    Best wishes!

Don't do like I did and purchase stuff. I would say maybe Vitamins and a Protein supplement. I gave away 90% off what I bought, and it was a lot!
My taste buds changed so much. I couldn't stomach whey afterwards. I used fairlife milk and yogurt.
    Good luck!
