Hi again I had my second fill yesterday and I definatly can tell the difference. I tried to eat a little bit of chicken last night and it came right back up. I finally know what PB means LOL. I was not supposed to eat anything so it was my fault to start with. My fill center says liquids the day of the fill and mushies the next day, I should have followed the directions better. I can have a fill once a week if I want and I think I will stick to that until I get good restriction. I did not get the shot to numb the skin ahead of time and it did not hurt at all. Im so happy that I had this done, Im down 25 lbs and I love it! Bernadette

Time to Get Back On Track
I was banded on March 16th and last week I had my first fill and yesterday I had my second fill. I did not feel any restriction after the first one but do feel it now. I was told that I could have a fill once a week if I did not feel restriction, so I will probably get another one in a week or two if I don't get enough restriction. I was told that they want you to get to that sweet spot as soon as possible. The reason we all had this was to get this weight off and getting aggressive with the fills is exactly what I wanted. I don't want a year to go by and Im still trying to loose my weight!! I had 70 pounds to loose and I have lost 25 so far and Im very happy with my weight loss. Aurelia I think you are doing fine, try to get in a little more excersize if you can that always helps me to drop more weight. Good luck to you! Bernadette

I just had my second fill yesterday and I definatly feel restriction!! Im happy that it will keep me from over eating again. This last week was really bad for me, we had a death in the family and I tend to eat when Im stressed. I got on the scale this morning and it has actually went down again. My total loss is now 25lbs!! Im very happy with that. Happy mothers day to you too!

Hi everyone I had my first fill yesterday, I feel absolutly the same so far. I'm on liquids thru today. I was told that this fill would not really make a difference, I have another fill in two weeks that one will make a difference. I can't wait to feel a little more restriction. I did ask about the water issue and was told that it does not matter how much you drink because it goes right thru and will not damage your band. It was really no big deal having the fill done, they gave me a shot of lidocain before and that stung a little my next fill I will skip any numbing meds and just get the fill. I never had it numbed when I had chemo and it never hurt. NEWBEGINNINGS I'm glad your fill went well too. Do you have another scheduled for the next few weeks? Take care everyone! Bernadette

Hi New Beginnings Wow you have done great on your weight loss, I wish that I was at 30 lbs. I have my first fill tomarrow and I can't wait to have it done. I still am not sure about the water thing, I have no problems drinking fast and I only do so when I have no food in my tummy. I hope it is alright. I love my water and had a tough time the first couple of weeks when I was unable to get enough in. So you have been thru the big C too? I have battled it twice and have had 9 surgeries, 6 months o chemo and 2 months of radiation. It has been a life changing event, I have slowed down some and learned how to relax a little. I tend to be a very busy person (type A) so it is good that Im relaxing more. Take care, Bernadette

Can someone help?
I had a TT breast reduction and lift all in one and I won't tell you that it does not hurt, but I will tell you that it is worth all of it. I know you will probably read this and say what?? she had all of this before losing her weight. I had cancer so I had a mastectomy and then the reconstruction which included using tummy fat for a new boobie!! I stayed 3 days in the hospital and spent every extra minute I could walking the halls. The day that I got home from the hospital I took my dogs for a walk with minimal pain.Go for it $11,000 is a good price for all of that and you will feel like a new woman when you are healed and can fully appreciate the surgery. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them! Bernadette

I really enjoy reading about other peoples journey. It gives me an insight into everyones everday challenges. About the water, I still did not get a complete answer about guzzling it. I can drink it very fast but wanted to make sure that it won't hurt my band. I have always been a huge water drinker but if I have to sip I don't seem to get all of my water in. It does not bother me to drink alot of water at one time, no upset tummy either. I do get an upset tummy if I eat too much. I will finally get my first fill next week, can't wait to see what restriction feels like. Bernadette

I have a question or two
I wanted to know how everyone gets their water in?? I have always been a big water drinker but now Im lucky to get 40oz in a day. Can you guzzle water if you have not eaten anything? I have no problem drinking fast but I keep remembering them telling me sip, sip, sip. I still feel full before I even eat something but I know that I need to eat. I have still not had a fill yet and Im 5 weeks out, don't know if I need one or not time will tell. Thanks in advance for any answers to all of my questions. Bernadette

Newly banded..........
Welcome Sandy You have just made the best choice for your life. It is fun to watch your body change and get thinner, Im just 5 weeks out and have dropped a pant size already. I also was self pay and went to Mexico, I had soo many people freaking out before I went. I had Dr Almanza and I had a wonderful experience too. They were very supportive and caring. Keep posting we love to hear about different journeys. Bernadette

Gregnir I could not sleep last night so I ran across your blog, that is great! I love the way you outlined the process and then the actual surgery and recovery. I should have done that too it makes it easier to remember everything if you write it down. I have been thru cancer and I kept a journal and it is soo wierd to look back and remember all of the feelings that you had. Keep up the good work! Bernadette

Welcome Julia! I can't belive that you had your first fill after 3 weeks, thats incredible. Did you feel restriction after it? How are you doing on your weight loss? There are alot of March 16thers so you will probably get alot of other people welcoming you too. How has your journey been so far? You will have to write back and get us updated on your weight loss story too. Bernadette:thumbup:

Sillygoose WOW that sounds like you had to go thru alot, hopefully he numbed it up before all of that poking. Well hopefully you will get the restriction that you were wanting. I hpe your tummy is okay today and not painful. Have a great day, Bernadette

Gregnir I want to get a fill because I can still eat too much. I don't really get that hungry feeling but when I eat I can eat anything and lots of it. Its a good thing that I have will power or I would have gained all of my weight back. I look at it this way, why waste the money and go thru all of this not to follow the rules. My sister had her band done almost a year ago and has only lost 45 pounds, she eats anything she wants. She knows that she needs a fill but just has not done it. I want to do well with this, I can't wait to wear normal clothes again. Bernadette

March 16
Hi Gregnir I know what you mean about the naps, I used to take one eery day off that I had and I have not had one since the day after surgery. Life does not revolve around food anymore, I still don't have an appetite but I can eat. I will be getting my first fill next week so that will help. Im glad that I did this. You are doing great on the weight loss, the walking helps too. Take care, Bernadette

Hi everyone Does everyone feel as good as I do??? I don't take anymore pills for heartburn and I used to take 2 Zantacs a day. My clothes are loose and I have alot more energy. I don't weigh very often, but the last time I did I was on the verge on ONEDERLAND, one more pound to go. I took up a walking routine and get anywhere from 3-5 miles 3-4 days a week. I go as long as it is not raining, which it does alot here. Is everyone else happy with their decision?? Bernadette:thumbup:

I have started losing again. I started a walking routine every night for at least 45 minutes, today I did 1 hour 25 minutes. Im beat but feel good. Bernadette

Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
Hi Big Mama I love your name by the way. I work with all men and they call me MAMA too, now if they put big in front of it someone might loose some teeth. LOL Yes I felt selfish about spending the money, but then my hubby kept saying you deserve it. I used part of my yearly bonus from my work so I guess in a way I earned it. It has been so long since I have spent anything on myself so it feels wierd. Im sure I will get into shopping again when I drop a couple sizes. Did you have the band? Bernadette

Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
Hi everyone I finally got on the scale and I have lost another 3 pounds!!! YEAY! I knew that I was loosing because all of my clothes are falling off me. I guess it is time to get into the closet and start pulling out smaller clothes. I soo can't wait for my first fill, but I have heard that if you are still loosing they won't do it. Does anyone know if that is true?? Im so happy that I did this, even if it is a little selfish (self pay) but I deserve it, I never do anything special for myself. I don't like to shop but I have a feeling when I loose more I will be happy to buy new things. How is everyone else doing?? Bernadette

Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
Hi all My port site sticks out where the port is, I hope when I loose my weight that it is not like that. And anyone fearing the stick when they get their fill, I have been thru cancer twice and had a port for my chemotherapy. Not once did I have any numbing done and it was no worse that a regular shot. 99% of the time I did not even feel it when she put the needle in, and that needle is larger. Don't sweat it that will only make you dread it even more. I have not had any cravings yet, I don't like chocolate so I guess that is a plus. I have always loved chips, popcorn, nachos anything salty and spicy. So far I have been happy with my bland food. I have a question that I have not seen answered here, is it okay to guzzle water?? I'm a big water drinker and all this sipping is driving me NUTS I don't have any problem with gulping but did not want to hurt the band, any answers?? Have a great day!! Bernadette

Hey 16thers Gregnir, I just get a little frustrated about the weight not coming off quicker. My mind tells me just relax it will come off, but the scale is not helping. I have put it away and decided to only weight once a week. I know that Im losing inches because all of my clothes are loose. I just need to be patient!!! When is everyone getting their first fill?? I can't wait to get mine, so I will have more restriction. Good luck!!

I have started to get a little annoyed at this plateau...I have stayed the same for what seems like forever. I have not been cheating either, thats what really sucks. I have been eating all low fat or no fat foods, I sure wish that I would start losing again. Good luck everyone!!
