  1. You can lose weight with restriction alone but for most folks it really helps to count calories. Just try and stick to good small meal portions and see how you do.
  2. Funny. I had a food dream last night. I dreamt that I was eating a huge hot fudge sundae, yummy!
  3. if you have your surgery in January or February you may be on solids, particularly January. If your surgery is in February it will be really close to your vacation so I would wait until April or May if I were you. Its tough enough to be banded, but when you are mushy stage that is tough.
  4. mis42, you should have good restriction. A fill will definitely help.
  5. All I am saying is for ME I look like hell at 150. In fact, I have never been under 165. And yes, when your bones stick out, its too far to go.
  6. I'm fine. I have plenty of protein in my diet as I always start the day with a protein shake. 1 cup is too much food for me. Been there, done that ie. weight gain.
  7. I hear you but skin and bones isn't good.
  8. For me I look sick at anything under 165. Ghastly.
  9. You can have protein shakes on the liquid stage. I would highly recommend a protein shake from the beginning after surgery.
  10. The first 60 lbs were a breeze. Its the remaining 40 that are not so easy! Good luck with your band!
  11. Sounds like you may need a fill for sure. I'm 16 months out and I am constantly filling and unfilling. Sorry!
  12. I wasn't hungry at 2 weeks either. You will need a fill when a)you aren't losing 1-2 lbs per week  you are unbearably hungry. Otherwise you can hold out. Good luck.
  13. I live in Gilroy and I've been banded 16 months. My sister uses the Bodybug and loves it.
  14. that was 3-4 incisions not 304
  15. How bad is the scarring? I have about 304 incisions and yes you can see them. Is saggy skin due to significant weightloss common? It depends on your body. For me losing 100 lbs I will need a tummy tuck. Does lapbanding really work? Yes, it works. Its never been easier for me to have portion control. Am I going to feel hungry from such small portions? No, once you start to get fills you will not be as hungry. Recovery time? My recovery was 5 days and then I was back to work. I love my band. I would replace it for anything.
  16. It sounds like you have so reflux. I would go on Prilosec. That is what helped me. Good luck.
  17. Wt, I have had some fills last 2 weeks and others last a month. Since I've been banded 16 months I probably have had 12 fills, some unfills. I had a fill a week ago then 5 days later I went in for another since he only gave me a little bit. It just depends on your body. If you lose weight you can definitely feel the difference with your fills since the fatty tissue on the stomach disappears. Hope this answers your question.
  18. Lauren, what you are experiencing is the joy of being banded. Often times I have trouble consuming 500 calories before dinner time. Make sure you have enough protein. Protein shakes really save me because it has 30 grams of protein with 1 cup of skim milk. I have 1 every day. Good luck.
  19. I love my protein shakes because they give me 30 grams of protein with 1 cup of skim milk.
  20. Make sure what you eat is watered down. From the sounds of it you are still healing and may be swollen.
  21. Sounds like you are too tight. I asked my doctor the question last week when I got my fill. He said there are too types of tighten. 1 is tight to liquids, the other is tight to solids. If you are tight to solids then move back to soft. If soft doesn't go down or keep down then you are too tight. You may want to give it a couple days but from the sound of it, you are too tight!
  22. Yes, I have lost several fills when I lose weight. It is quite common. Just go back in for another fill. You'll get it back.
  23. 176 is fine. What size are you in? I'm 219 and would be happy at 180-200. I just want to fit into a 14/16. I am a size 18 now. 150 is too low. I would look anorexic.
