Suggestions?

Ok, surgery was 1 week ago today. I went ahead and had a little cream of chicken soup last night, blended with a little milk and chicken broth to make creamier/thinner. Later on in the evening I had a little bit of mashed potatoes which I swear I could feel traveling back up my esophagus. Ok, will make those creamier or something next time. This morning I had 1/2 cup of cream of wheat, probably the same consistancy as the mashed potatoes and almost lost it all. Could it be the texture or am I trying to eat heavier stuff too soon? The doc's office said I could start these types of foods after a week. Just started a day early. :)
