    Is this normal?

I got a fill on Oct 31st, my surgery was Oct 2nd. My fill was to 3cc. I got the AP band. I'm having pain and soreness still. Even if I'm not eating I feel sore (as if I had been doing tons of sit ups). I thought the first couple of days that it was just normal soreness. I keep PB'ing, I think. I eat something and usually feel the food in my esophagus, like it gets stuck. Sometimes I bring up what looks like clear mucus. I have also been having allergy problems. Trying to figure if this is all normal (maybe with allergies) or should I keep bugging my doc about it?

    Is this normal?

I was eating ground beef or pieces of chicken, no skin on the chicken. I did have a piece of steak last Sunday. I decided to try to let myself heal a few days and and have just been drinking protein shakes. This morning, for example...Slim Fast shake. 16 ounces of Crystal Light. I can't stop throwing up that clear, thick stuff. Although I thought it was mucus at first, I think it's what was mentioned above. When I burp, I feel better. It "feels" like something might be trapped, but I can't get it up! Heh. Yesterday....2 oz of Egg Beaters, Slim Fast shake at lunch time, and 2 oz of Egg Beaters for dinner.

    Is this normal?

I forgot to mention that a lot of times I feel pain and soreness, only to end up burping later. Hehe.
  4. That electric skillet idea was a great one! Thank you. My doc told me to go ahead and start the solid foods....so I am microwaving lean ground beef and turkey patties this week. We'll see how well that goes. I tried a meat patty from Denny's yesterday.....blech. That didn't go down so well. At least I can cook eggs in the microwave too. Hehe.
  5. There may be another thread for this, but I didn't seem to find one quite yet. Anyone have any soft ....transitioning into solid food ideas/recipes/suggestions for eating out and or microwave cooking? I had a fire at my house on Labor Day (almost one month before my band) and my insurance is paying for a hotel until December when the repairs should be complete. I have a fridge and a little microwave in the room. Help with ideas, please!
  6. I've been tons hungrier, but I'm more conscious about what I'm eating. Fat-free, low fat, sugar free, however I know that even that adds up. I think I'm more afraid to get sick and start throwing up from eating something I'm not supposed compared to just eating anything. I should be able to start solids today 10/02/07 was my banding date. I may wait until tomorrow. I'm SCARED. Heh.
  7. Hahaha. I had a dream last week that I was eating french fries and looked down to see I'd eaten half a grilled chicken sandwich. I freaked out in my dream, "I wasn't supposed to eat that yet!!!!". I still think it's funny that I dream about food now.

    fluid retention

I knew I had read it somewhere before, but I just found it online: Nutritional Deficiencies Dietary deficiency, like inadequate intake of Vitamin B1 (thiamine) can cause Fluid retention. Vitamins B6 and B5 also assist fluid dispersal. Low levels of Protein (albumin) in the bloodstream may also cause edema. Are you getting enough protein?
  9. Totally normal to have that problem, although mine was a little different. When I finally did uhm "go"....well let's just say the doctor's office said, "liquid in...liquid out". Bleh. Hehe. Oh well.

    lap band cookbook

I think there are 2 different cookbooks that y'all might be referring to. I just ordered one that's different than the one originally posted about. Does that make sense? I found 2 at amazon.com. One is: Recipes for Life After Weight-Loss Surgery: Delicious Dishes for Nourishing the New You (Healthy Living Cookbooks) (Paperback) --This is the one I ordered and there was also: Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: Over 140 Delicious Low-Fat High-Protein Recipes to Enjoy in the Weeks, Months and Years After Surgery (Paperback)--which is the one I thought was mentioned. If y'all are talking about the 2nd one, I'll let everyone know how the recipes are in the one I ordered.

    Suggestions?

Ok, surgery was 1 week ago today. I went ahead and had a little cream of chicken soup last night, blended with a little milk and chicken broth to make creamier/thinner. Later on in the evening I had a little bit of mashed potatoes which I swear I could feel traveling back up my esophagus. Ok, will make those creamier or something next time. This morning I had 1/2 cup of cream of wheat, probably the same consistancy as the mashed potatoes and almost lost it all. Could it be the texture or am I trying to eat heavier stuff too soon? The doc's office said I could start these types of foods after a week. Just started a day early.

    hunger pains?

I thought the exact same thing you did, but afterwards I wasn't even hungry for a few days. My niece had the lap band done 2 years ago and described it best to me a couple of days ago. It's like your mind thinks you have food in your stomach so you don't have the hunger itself, but it's actually empty so it growls.

    10/2 bandsters check in!

Hey 10/02/07 for me too. Ya know I've been doing the clear liquids since then. I may go ahead and try a full liquid tonight. Mashed potatoes or some cream of chicken soup. My doc's office told me to get some protein powder. Any suggestions? I was under the impression when I get back to full diet that I should lay off the protein powder some, so I don't want a big jar of stuff just sitting there.

    Banded??? Check in here

My date was 10/02/07-tomorrow I start my full liquid diet. Finally! The clear liquids didn't bother me so much, until I came back to work today. I don't know if it's the stress or everyone eating around me, but my tummy is growling a bit more today (although I'm still not hungry). I can actually drink more fluids now too. I guess my swelling is going down. Don't know if I've lost weight yet, don't want to know until I go to my doc's on Thurs.... :car:
  15. Hi everyone. I just got banded on 10/02 and am in San Antonio, TX. I'm so paranoid that my "band is going to slip" that I'm "able to eat too much and something is wrong", that I'll "have acid reflux again", etc, etc. I know this is all new and an adjustment. I had a little nausea, no vommitting thankfully. I think I'm worried that I moved around too much and made the band slip by getting in and out of bed, stretching to pick my jeans up from the floor, etc. At first I felt the constriction of the band, now I can breathe easier, but with that I can drink more liquids as well. My tummy growls once in a while, but I'm not "hungry". I had a little coughing this morning and thought it was reflux, but I think it's the normal sinus drainage I used to get. Oh and I don't think I've lost any weight. My tummy is so swollen as well, still. Is this all "normal"? Also, today is my first day back at work. I work at a call center, so I'll be sitting here about 10 hours today. We'll see how it goes.

    San Antonio Area Bandsters?

Hi...I just joined the forum today. I was banded on 10/02/07 by Dr. Carcamo. I posted some info on me in the introductions. Tomorrow I start my full liquid diet. I'm in San Antonio, as well of course. :car:
  17. HEY. I got mine on 10/2 too. I've been drinking a little warm tea as well as sugar free kool-aid, since I'm really bad about just regular water. I hope you're feeling better.
