Help!
Yes, the weight loss is slower than RYN. That being said after a year and a 1/2 and down 75 lbs I would do it all over again. I have 35 lbs to goal. I eat everything I want just less of it. I don't have any nutrional issues. I am very healthy and am glad my interiors weren't rerouted. I would do lapband again in a heart beat. Good luck with your decision.

Was Your Doc More In Favor Of Gastric Bypass?
Hi Julie. My doctor use to do 70% RYN and 30% lapband. In 1 and 1/2 years he is now doing 70% lapband and 30% RYN. Sounds just the opposite of your doctor. Lapband rocks!

Is this Normal?
Hi Sharon, sounds like you are too tight. Have you tried a soft diet to see how you do? There are 2 types of tightness. Tightness to liquids and tightness to solids. If you are losing weight now you may want to stick to more soft foods. If you find that soft foods hurt you too then you definitely need a slight unfill. That is what my doctor says. It depends on whether or not you mind a softer diet. Good luck.

Had first fill.... do feel much different
Yes, it depends on your body. For me it took me 5 fills to finally have good restriction. Keep going back until you get there. Good luck.

fast food
Jewels, banding is all about balance. If you want a cheeseburger you have it. With good restriction you just don't eat much of it!

The Magic Bullet - A Bandster Must-Have!
Lisa, I love my bullet too!

fast food
Twiggy, I eat everything just less of it. If I go to McDonalds I buy a regular cheese burger and can only eat 1/4 so that is what I do. Sometimes I would opt to have the grilled caesar wtih light dressing too.

doctor said my port is too deep to reach to have a fill
Any chance you can have it moved?

Not enough restriction again.
Sue my dear. I wouldn't worry about how many fills you have. I would go back until you hit your sweet spot. It took me 5 fills and 6 months to get there. Don't be shy of fills. How much can you eat?

nauseous and dizzy ???
How long have you been banded. Nauseau is quite common early on. I would consult with your surgeon to see if he can give you an anti nauseau medication. As far as the dizziness goes, I would assume it is low blood sugar. Make sure you drink protein shakes and make sure you get enough protein. Good luck.

Support Group Seminar
My support group is lead by a woman who is an RN and who had RYN. She has no opinion or whether or not RYN is better or worse. She knows a lot about the lapband and after care. Good luck.

Do I need a fill?
Liz, you truly need to figure out what you want. If you do want to lose weight then you can with the band. First thing I would do is to eliminate sugar, alcohol and carbs. The 2nd thing I would do is to increase my water consumption. 3rd thing I would do is to walk 20-30 minutes a day. With that being said........if you can eat 1 cup of food that is too much! I eat 2 oz at a time and am full within a few bites. My weight loss is 1 lb a week, 2-3 with good restriction. I would really have an honest dialogue with your surgeon about what you are consuming. Popcorn and sugar go down just fine, as does ice cream. Please be honest with yourself and face the lapband music. Good luck. You can do it!

What size is your meal portion???
Kayla, for me 2 oz is about right. I've been banded for a year and a half and with good restriction it is no more than that. That being said, if you can consume 1/2 to 1 cup of food and still lose then good for you. Don't force yourself into 2oz if you don't have to! If you lose at that rate that is your sweet spot. For me its much less, sometimes only 3 bites. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Breathing Tube
The breathing tube was the worst part of the surgery for me. It gave me a terrible sore throat and I had a hard time in recovery with it and had to take a throat spray to numb my throat to relieve the pain.

Baby!
So cute. Congrats on your weight loss to date and your 2nd pregnancy.

Transfering to alcohol?
Just wanted to let you all know that Oprah is having a show on Friday about this very subject. Its about WLS folks taking on new addictions. Should be a good show.

Trying Not To Get Discouraged
Sue, this is quite common until you get proper restriction. It took me 5 fills and over 6 months to get there. I would keep going back until you are losing, not as hungry and cannot eat a large portion of food. Good luck.

My jean callous is gone!
Great NSV. Good job!

A Little Confused
I agree with Wheetsin. Also, if you can eat 8 oz of beef you definitely need a fill. I would see how you do moving forward to see if you get stuffed with 2 bites. It could be that your restriction just kicked in.

My testimony-I'm losing weight again!!!
