  1. Isn't restriction the best! Good job throwing the chicken tender away.
  2. I was so excited. It was such a great time. Good luck with your surgery!
  3. Yes, very common with restriction. I can always here my liquids go down with a gurgle. Food however, I don't.
  4. Yes! 1/2 cup is perfect restriction. Just make sure you are getting plenty of protein. Some folks would argue that you don't get in enough nutrients when you consume 1/2 cup of food but my doctor specifically said that 1/2 cup of food is fine. Welcome to your sweet spot!
  5. Angel~! You will be. The pounds will melt off after you get good restriction. Just be patient and don't be shy of fills once you heal. My doctor starts the process 6 weeks after surgery. It took me 5 fills to finally get restriction. Thankfully I lost 1-2 lbs per week during that time. Right now I just want to maintain through the Holidays. I have about 30 more lbs to go and will get tightened on 1/2. I lost 3 lbs a week when I was at 3.2ccs but wanted to be able to eat more again so recently I went back to 2.9ccs to maintain. So far so good. Good luck! P.S. I started in a size 24 as well.
  6. I agree. Before I was banded I would read the other threads about complications and band and would understand the complications, etc. I also don't think all posts are positive. What is the real issue? Are you having problems already? Let us help you.
  7. Nessa, I have heard this happen before but it hasn't happend to me. I would ask your surgeon and maybe get an anti nauseau medication.
  8. Angel, I am at 218 from 282 and I'm in a nice fitting 18. My goal is 16 or 14 which would put me at 180-190ish. My doctor said 185 would be perfect. If I have a Tummy tuck and lower body lift after I get to 185 I'm sure I'll be in a size 14 or 12. You will love the band. Good luck.
  9. My doctor had me on liquids, then mushies then solids. My first few months was a slow process because I didn't have good restriction until 6 months out. Just take it easy, heal and wait for fills. Good luck.
  10. Out here in CA they have a place called Simply Beautiful. They guarantee 10-30 inches gone permently if you don't gain weight. They are mineral wraps that take an hour.
  11. Angel, we almost have the same stats. I am 5'8 and I'm currently 218 from a high of 320. I started the lapband at 282. I am considered a slow loser but I am very happy with my 65 lbs gone. It is such a great feeling not to yo yo diet anymore. I love having control. I am going in for a much more agressive fill in January. You will find that restriction is key. You will do great. Congrats on making this life changing decision!
  12. Missy, it is normal to have barium swallows although my surgeon only does that when he has a hard time finding the port or if there are other concerns. What your surgeon is doing is just his preference.
  13. My doctor didn't have me on a preop diet so I can't comment on that. For me, I had a breakdown just before surgery crying over how it had come to this. I think all emotions are normal. Good luck.
  14. Yes I have in the past. The only thing that has worked for me is the band.
  15. Yes, a runny nose can indicate good restriction. Same thing with a hiccup.
  16. Amber, what an exciting time! Good luck to you.
  17. Truthfully, I think you need a fill. You will still maintain your tightness in the a.m. but it should help you with your big meal consumption at night. That is just my belief. Good luck.
  18. I am an overeater, however with the band I have been tamed. I would love a big Mac though!
  19. Lynsay, how is it when you eat a softer diet? There are 2 types of restriction. Restriction to liquid which is not good or restriction to solids. I would move back to liquids then mushies to see how you do. It will be up to you from there to see if you don't mind a softer diet to lose.
  20. No problems but my pills are only the size of an M&M.
  21. My doctor doesn't fill under fluro unless you have a problem or something. He hits my port every time without a problem.
  22. Teri, I love my lapband. I haven't gained any weight in a year and a half. I am considered an average/slow loser at 65 lbs. I would do it again in a heart beat. Good luck with your decision.
  23. Jennifer, what you are experiencing is totally normal. It took me 5 fills and 6 months to finally have good restriction. You will get there, it just takes time.
  24. Paulax, how exciting. I am 35 lbs from goal so I can't wait.
